Marvel Said To Have Big Plans For Norman Osborn In The MCU

Remember the Southern gangster from Ant-Man and The Wasp? You know, the charming one who tried to steal all of Hank Pym’s stuff to sell to some mysterious buyer? Well, his name is Sonny Burch, played by the criminally underrated Walton Goggins, and while he was busy stealing every scene he was in, we all forgot to ask who Sonny was working for. The answer? Well, we can’t say for sure, but word on the street is that was Spider-Man‘s arch-nemesis, Norman Osborn.

That’s right, current chatter points to Sonny Burch’s arc from the movie being a backdoor entry point for the Green Goblin himself. This isn’t the first time we’ve heard this, either, as when Wasp first released, there was chatter of a potential Osborn cameo. Of course, that didn’t happen, but notorious tipster Daniel RPK is once again asserting that Marvel have plans for him.

Taking to Twitter, here’s what he had to share:

Marvel wants Norman Osborn, they have big plans for him in the MCU beyond Spider-Man which is another reason why they’ll try their best to extend their contract with Sony.

This remains to be confirmed by Marvel Studios, but it does add up with a few things we’ve seen in the franchise to date. For one, we never found out who bought the Avengers tower in Homecoming and speculation points to it being the curly-haired fiend. Not only that, but we’ve also heard that Kevin Feige and co. have asked Sony not to use Osborn in any of their Spider-Man based movies. Why? Likely because they have their own plans for him.

And while this is all just speculation for now, it’s important to remember that the studio appears to be going with the angle that Spidey’s villains are already operating and established in the MCU and Peter’s simply stumbling onto them as he starts his superhero career. As such, it’s not too crazy to think that the seeds for the Green Goblin may’ve very well already been planted.
