Peter’s Friend Ned Spoiled The Ending To Avengers: Infinity War, And No One Noticed

While Spider-Man: Homecoming star Tom Holland is known for letting a few spoilers slip, his onscreen best friend Ned Leeds just might be even worse, practically giving away the genocidal ending of Avengers: Infinity War before Peter Parker had even got off the bus.

While you may not have thought much of actor Jacob Batalon’s brief appearance in the recent Marvel mega-hit, a new Reddit post highlights how one of his few lines could be seen as strangely prophetic in retrospect. We’re specifically referring to the moment where Ned sees Ebony Maw’s ship arrive in New York and frantically blurts out the ominous: “We’re all gonna die!”

Indeed, the guy turned out to be 50% right, with half of the universe ultimately being turned to dust, including Ned’s schoolmate Peter. While it could be a stretch to argue that this hysterical outburst was deliberately written as foreshadowing, it’s still a half-decent summation of the gloomy conclusion that the film would reach.

Of course, with Spider-Man: Far From Home coming out next year, it’s clear that Peter isn’t going to stay dead for long. And with Batalon confirmed to return for the sequel, it seems that a reunion between friends will soon be in order.

Before all that, however, we’ve still got Avengers 4 heading our way, which will surely offer some explanation of how Peter could be back in one piece for his next standalone film. While we still have a lot to learn about the upcoming Russo Brothers flick, a typically loose-lipped Holland has already offered some clues, including the suggestion that the Quantum Realm could have an important part to play in the reversal of Thanos’ genocidal finger-snap.

In any case, you can expect Avengers 4 to resolve the grim concluding cliffhanger of Avengers: Infinity War when it hits cinemas on May 3rd, 2019, before Ned Leeds makes his return to the big screen with Spider-Man: Far From Home, out July 5th.
