New Captain America: The First Avenger Connection Spotted In Spider-Man: Homecoming

Despite being on opposite sides in Captain America: Civil War, there was a brief moment in the movie when Steve Rogers and Peter Parker stopped fighting and bonded over being New York born and bred. For a further reminder that there’s more in common between Cap and Spidey than you might think, though, a small detail has been spotted in Spider-Man: Homecoming which calls back to The First Avenger.

The wall-crawler’s big final fight against Vulture happens at the Coney Island Amusement Park when the Stark plane that Adrian Toomes was trying to ransack is brought down on the beach. In the background of the scene, you can see the famous Cyclone ride. One Reddit user recently remembered that the Cyclone had previously been mentioned in the MCU, when Steve recalls the time he and Bucky rode it when they were kids – and you can see the connection for yourself in the gallery below.

New York has always been a big part of who both Cap and Spider-Man are, as they’re very much formed by their upbringing in the city, albeit different parts of it. However, both heroes have travelled far and wide over their time as Avengers. Steve Rogers is 70 years away from the Brooklyn he grew up in while Peter Parker’s been to outer space in Avengers: Infinity War

And once he’s resurrected in Avengers 4, Spidey will be off traveling again, as Spider-Man: Far From Home will see Peter going around Europe, with filming having taken place in London and Prague so far. It’s thought that the film will be structured around the Midtown High kids going on a summer vacation around Europe, though knowing the ol’ Parker luck, Peter will get himself into trouble. Thankfully, then, Nick Fury and Maria Hill will be keeping an eye on him.
