Rob Zombie posts a fun BTS video from his ‘The Munsters’ reboot

Rob Zombie has a reputation for deranged, blood-soaked terror. His skills were on full display in the ‘Firefly trilogy,’ comprising House of 1000 Corpses, The Devils Rejects, and 3 From Hell, but he’s also turned out the Halloween reboots and secret gem 31. But his next release tackles some genuine spine-chilling thrills: The Munsters.
Yup, the classic horror-themed sitcom. It remains to be seen what kind of spin Zombie will put on this material, though he certainly knows his stuff. He claims to have seen every episode of the original show “at least 17 times”, and named his famous song ‘Dragula’ after the family’s car.

MCU fans debate which iteration of Hulk looked the best

Bruce Banner has had a long and eventful journey through the MCU. Hulk made his debut (in Edward Norton form) back in 2008’s The Incredible Hulk as an uncontrollable rage monster, though has mellowed substantially as time went on. By Thor: Ragnarok the Hulk persona had become more articulate, and by Avengers: Endgame Banner and Hulk had reconciled their differences and amalgamated as ‘Smart Hulk’.
This has carried forward into upcoming Disney Plus show She-Hulk: Attorney at Law. Here a slightly older ‘Smart Hulk’ has healed from his injuries caused by using the Infinity Stones in Endgame and appears to be instructing Jennifer Walters on how to live your life as a giant green gamma person.

‘Doctor Strange 2’ fan theory explains how Strange carries a piece of Earth-838 — is that what caused an incursion?

Warning: The following article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Continuing the long-standing MCU tradition, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness ends with a post-credits scene, which sees Charlize Theron’s Clea approaching Doctor Strange and informing him of how he caused an incursion. While it is not explained how the former Sorcerer Supreme is the reason behind it, fans speculated that his extensive multiversal travels and usage of the Darkhold to Dreamwalk most likely triggered it. But a new fan theory has put forward another plausible explanation.

Nicholas Pinnock and Christopher Eccleston join Muhammed Ali biopic ‘A God Amongst Men’

Fans of The G.O.A.T. rejoice: there’s a new film based on Muhammad Ali’s life in the works. A God Amongst Men will see For Life‘s Nicholas Pinnock take on the role of the heavyweight champion alongside the former Doctor Who star, Christopher Eccleston. While it has not been officially specified, Eccleston will most likely play Johnny Walker, the man who brought Ali to a small town boxing club in England.
As reported by Variety, A God Amongst Men will be directed by James Newton (2:Hrs), who has co-written the film alongside Ian Skelton (Hey Duggee). The film is set to tell the story of Johnny Walker, an ex-boxer from South Shields, who decided to bring Muhammad Ali to Tyneside, in the Northeast of England, in 1977, in order to save his decaying boxing club, Shields Park Kids. Despite facing ridicule and disbelief, Walker persevered and made “the impossible possible.”

During its recently held Upfront presentation to advertisers, Disney announced that the sequel to the 1993 Halloween classic will land on September 30, allowing viewers to gear up a whole month in advance of Halloween. The Brad Pitt vs. Tom Cruise argument kicks off like we’re in the 1990s again

Twitter users are choosing between Tom Cruise and Brad Pitt as the better actor, celebrity, hunk, and all-around person, a debate that has been happening since at least the 1990s.
Top Gun: Maverick is presumably the reason for the debate’s renewal, since it has launched Cruise back into Hollywood’s highest altitude of fame. Pitt’s cameo in the action-comedy flick The Lost City has brought him some recent attention, as well, so the two long-standing industry juggernauts are being pitted against each other for the umpteenth time. The results may or may not surprise you.

MCU supporters disagree that Phase 4 has no direction

It’d be no overstatement to suggest that fans have been conflicted about this new MCU era ever since the Infinity Saga came to a close with Avengers: Endgame. After a viral debate on social media led many folks to wonder if Kevin Feige and co. are still at the top of their game, some Marvel enthusiasts are now rushing to its defense by reminding everyone of some very clear denominators in all of Phase Four projects.
As Richard Newby of THR points out in his original tweet that spawned the latest debate, we’re only a few years into the next era, and it took Marvel four years to set up the Infinity War in 2012’s The Avengers. So, we should probably exercise our patience for the time being.
I mean, it’s pretty clear where certain threads are headed. Phase 4 isn’t even a year in, but there are clearly traceable themes throughout. Also, Infinity War didn’t come into view until The Avengers. Also, movies can just stand alone. Also, audiences don’t need to know it all. pic.twitter.com/TKBiFvPatI
— Richard Newby (@RICHARDLNEWBY) May 16, 2022
Newby wasn’t alone with this sentiment, of course, as many fans used this opportunity to express their own optimism and hot takes. One person noted that when you consider them all together, every project is at least partially connected to something else.
I really don’t understand where this conversation even comes from. WandaVision & MoM are connected. MoM is also connected to Loki & NWH. F&WS, Black Widow, & Hawkeye have something brewing with Val, Walker, Yelena, etc. I ranted about it more here.
— Alden Diazhttps://t.co/OAOyCbakri
SWCA (@ThatAldenDiaz) May 16, 2022
Besides, why does every project need to tie into some bigger story arc in the first place? Some fans seem content with just enjoying whatever’s in front of them at the moment.
I really hate the mentality that's crept in over the last ten years that it's more important to look forward to the NEXT movie in a franchise than just enjoy what's in front of you. Everything's just a TV episode now, to be consumed in a never-ending string.
— Bob Noss (@bob_noss) May 16, 2022
While it may look like Marvel has been hopping about with seemingly no clear goal in mind, this could just be the introduction phase to another 10-year story arc like the Infinity Saga.
There are clearly five paths: Street level/earth, cosmic, Supernatural (magic, vampires, werewolves, etc…), Mythological (gods and avatars), multiverse. Some paths have already crossed and others are yet to cross. This is probably a 10 year arc, it's just getting started.
— Gatheringman1415 (@Gatheringman141) May 16, 2022
One user brings up another interesting point in the discussion, detailing why all Marvel projects don’t necessarily have to connect. Perhaps a rather erroneous presupposition is that MCU had a concrete plan in the Infinity Saga due to some brief post-credits scenes, but that hardly seems to be the case when you look at the timeline of the movies and the creatives attached to it.
People really mistook spreading out some rocks across a few projects as there being a concrete plan in the Infinity Saga. It’s very clear that the Tesseract and Loki’s Scepter were not stones to begin with and Whedon himself says he had no idea what to do with Thanos after the
— Chad (@ChadUtes24) May 16, 2022
post credit scene. It’s pretty clear from 3 of the 12 projects we’ve gotten this phase that we’re heading toward Multiversal/Secret Wars. And the rest have been (mostly) great stories that don’t need to connect every thread to one direction. After Thanos first appearance
— Chad (@ChadUtes24) May 16, 2022
what percentage of the movies even had to do with Thanos/Infinity Stones? IM3, Winter Soldier, Ant-Man, Civil War, Ragnarok, Homecoming, Black Panther had virtually nothing to do with the “Thanos Plan”.
— Chad (@ChadUtes24) May 16, 2022
Wherever the story’s heading next, it’s becoming increasingly apparent that Marvel will need to give its fanbase something more than surprise cameos to keep the box office floodgates open. Let’s hope they take the hint.

MCU fans name the next Marvel TV character they want to see return

After years of Marvel’s non-Disney Plus TV series being of questionable canon status, the MCU has treated fans of the House of Ideas’ small-screen outings to a trio of surprise returns over the past few months. First, December delivered both a Daredevil cameo in Spider-Man: No Way Home and Kingpin as the main villain of Hawkeye. Then, in a comeback, we were totally not expecting, Black Bolt of Inhumans fame featured in Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness.
With the past Marvel Television characters now apparently being fair dibs for Marvel Studios, it’s anyone’s guess who will be the next TV hero — or villain — to make a shock return. That said, folks definitely have a few names at the top of their wish lists. Journalist Adam Barnhardt got Twitter talking on this topic by asking people which Marvel TV returns they think could happen over the next batch of Phase Four projects.
Marvel Studios brought back #Daredevil, Kingpin, and Black Bolt in a six-month timeframe.

— Saavyworld (@saavyworld) May 15, 2022
As you can see, not everyone is sold on the idea of Murphy donning the metallic facemask of Victor von Doom, but he’s definitely the sort of actor Marvel Studios likes. The 45 year-old is roughly the same age as many past, present, and future MCU antagonists, he’s a recognizable star without being a genuine A-lister, and he’s just as comfortable in intense dramas as he is in effects-heavy blockbusters.
There are plenty of other viable candidates out there, though, and with Fantastic Four hitting a minor bump in the road following the departure of Jon Watts, it could be a while before we find out who plays the big bad, if the reboot is even heading down the route marked Doom.

Danny Elfman doesn’t think a ‘Nightmare Before Christmas’ sequel will happen, either

Danny Elfman has joined Tim Burton in destroying dreams of a Nightmare Before Christmas sequel.
The composer supplied the music, certain voices, and Jack Skellington’s singing for Henry Selick’s 1993 holiday classic. While producer Burton has long been the Grinch of sequel talks, Elfman shared his own similar sentiments in an interview with ComicBook. “I don’t think so,” he said when asked about a Nightmare Before Easter, Nightmare Before Thanksgiving, or other potential sequel, spinoff, or offshoot. “I think Tim has always felt that no, this is what it was.”
Although there are non-cinematic sequels (a video game and an upcoming young adult novel), Burton has been adamant about keeping Nightmare contained.

Many people do appreciate the purity of a single, non-exploited Nightmare, but others have enough trust in Burton’s genius to let him expand Skellington’s world if he wants to, as Elfman explained.
“If he had a fresh take on it, I would certainly go for the ride with him. But he’s never expressed any interest in that. I think he felt like this was a pure thing and it was what it was and that to try to do sequels on it would, I think it’s just not inspired him. But I won’t ever speak for Tim. It’s his universe.”
Elfman recently admitted that he doesn’t buy into any talk of a Beetlejuice sequel, either, and as one of Burton’s most famed, trusted, and tenured collaborators, you’d imagine he’d be let in on the ground floor were things to change.

Even Stephen King diehards can’t defend the ‘Firestarter’ remake

The fresh and fiery adaptation of Firestarter simultaneously released in theaters and on Peacock yesterday, and while author and concept creator Stephen King has offered up his praise, diehard fans are certainly finding faults in the Zac Efron vehicle. The remake of the 1984 original tells the story of a father who attempts to protect his daughter — who possesses pyrokinesis — from an enigmatic agency seeking to seize her.
Over on Twitter, the overall response to the 2022 adaptation has been nothing short of underwhelming, as folks are taking to the app to express their dissatisfaction with the film based on King’s 1980 novel. This backlash even includes many popular sites, such as IGN, determining that the movie “failed to ignite” upon its anticipated release.

Another user sought to praise John Carpenter’s brilliant score, but then proceeded to slander the film’s script, acting, and direction as a whole.

One user criticized Firestarter for its lackluster ability to choose a genre, and instead only praised the film’s score.
I was begging for someone to put me out of my misery while watching FIRESTARTER. It never settles on what type of film it wants to be. Action? Horror? Superhero? Family drama? Doesn’t matter when they’re all this lifeless. Has a cool retro score but otherwise, just let it burn. pic.twitter.com/yr6PYV7Q2f

One final user was as blunt as one can possibly be.

Along with the online backlash, reviews from critics are even worse, with many dubbing it as one of the worst film adaptations of King’s work. That being said, with projects like Salem’s Lot on the horizon, there’s still plenty to look forward to for diehard fans of the renowned author.

‘The Batman’ concept art reveals Penguin almost wore mustard yellow

Concept artist Adam Brockbank has posted some early designs from Matt Reeves’ The Batman that literally paints Colin Farrell’s Penguin in a different light.
As we know, Farrell’s Oswald Cobblepot is one of several archenemies of Robert Pattinson’s Batman; seeking to rise up the ranks of Gotham’s criminal hierarchy and become the city’s newest crime boss. In the film, Oz is a lieutenant of the Falcone crime family, under investigation from Batman and Jim Gordon after potential clues linked him to the murders committed by the Riddler.
As everyone knows, Penguin is often seen wearing a tailcoat tuxedo, complete with a bow tie and a top hat. Traditionally, he also has a beak-shaped nose (hence the nickname) and a monocle. Although Farrell’s iteration lacks the sophistication of his comic book counterpart, he does sport the same fur coats and pinstripe suits.
Brockbank’s art looks way more like the handsome Farrell we’ve come to love over the years than the finished product that buried the actor under prosthetics, which is surely destined for an Oscar nomination in the makeup category at the very least. He captioned the photo, “Another day, another Penguin”, and you can see the artwork below.
In the images, Farrell dons the same slicked-back hair as seen in Matt Reeves’ adaptation, but it somehow looks neater and more well-groomed than the sleazy, overweight and unattractive Penguin that made it to the big screen. Would it be fair to say that this version looks a lot less threatening than the other one? Maybe that’s why they chose the hideous appearance after all.

MCU fans wonder what ‘Doctor Strange 2’ means for Agatha Harkness

This article contains spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness
Kathryn Hahn’s Agatha Harkness stole the show in WandaVision with her entertaining brand of villainy and toe-tapping theme song. The character was such a hit that she’s getting her very own spinoff: Agatha: House of Harkness, likely due in mid-2023.
Now fans are wondering how the events of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, specifically Wanda’s fate, will impact Agatha. WandaVision ended with Wanda casting a mind-control spell on her, consigning her to live as ‘Agnes’ the bubbly sitcom personality she’d invented for herself.
r/MarvelStudios is currently debating whether Wanda’s (apparent) death will mean this spell is lifted, or whether the destruction of the Darkhold will push her back towards the light. We can surmise that Agatha: House of Harkness will somehow see her released from Wanda’s spell, though a reply points out that the show underlines that once a spell is cast it can’t be broken.
If that’s the case, the death of the spell caster won’t affect the spell itself, which also lines up with Doctor Strange’s explanation that his spell to protect the Time Stone in Avengers: Infinity War will be unaffected by Ebony Maw killing him.
Some also theorize that House of Harkness will see Wanda and Agatha reunite. Agatha’s closing words to Wanda in WandaVision were, “You’ve no idea what you have unleashed. You’re gonna need me.” and of all the characters, Agatha will probably be less judge-y about the whole murderous rampage thing.
We may get a hint when Agatha: House of Harkness starts filming in the fall, so watch this space.
In the meantime, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is now in theaters.
