James Bond Heads To Italy In New No Time To Die Set Photos

After a rocky start, production on No Time To Die seems to be running smoothly at last. The official James Bond Twitter account today revealed that shooting had now finished in Britain, following its start in Jamaica, and has moved on to Matera, Italy. Along with the announcement came a couple of publicity shots of 007 himself Daniel Craig, paired with his on-screen girlfriend Lea Seydoux and director Cary Fukunaga.

No Time To Die is the 25th Bond movie overall and Craig’s fifth and final time playing the role. Meanwhile, almost uniquely in the history of Bond girls, Seydoux will be making her second appearance as Madeline Swann, after the super-spy gave up his career to drive off into the sunset with his latest love at the end of Spectre.

However, his newfound domestic bliss won’t last long. The official synopsis for the film teases that Bond will be forced out of his cosy retirement in the Caribbean when his old pal from the CIA, Felix Leiter (Jeffrey Wright), needs his help to investigate some scientists who’ve gone missing. This will lead him into the path of a new and dangerous foe, played by Rami Malek.

Other new recruits to the franchise include Ana de Armas as Paloma, Billy Magnussen in an undisclosed role and Lashana Lynch as Nomi. Lynch’s role has already caused a lot of discussion online as it’s believed she’s the new 007, as in the agent who’s taken over Bond’s designation at MI6 since his retirement. Speaking of MI6, Ralph Fiennes, Naomie Harris and Ben Whishaw are all back as M, Miss Moneypenny and Q for the third time.

After originally being scheduled for this November, No Time To Die is now locked in to shoot into cinemas next April 8.

Joker Theory Says The Film Will Set Up A Post-Flashpoint Batman Reboot

The Batman from DC’s cinematic universe is facing two complications at the moment in terms of story continuity. On the one hand, the actor who’d been playing the role, Ben Affleck, has been replaced by the younger Robert Pattinson. Also, Joker, the origin film about Batman’s arch-enemy that’s winning massive critical acclaim, sets up a Bruce Wayne who’s too young to grow up to become Batman and fight Joaquin Phoenix’s Clown Prince of Crime.

Now, a Reddit fan theory has suggested both these facts can be reconciled through some good old fashioned reality-bending time travel, courtesy of the Flashpoint Paradox. Here’s the full theory, provided by u/Fritzson8805:

Flashpoint paradox. The reality created by The Flash going back in time to save his mother from being murdered. Causing many changes to the reality of the DC universe.

The specific change that I mean to presume to connect to the Joker movie, which is obviously based in a darker more brutal universe opposed to the DCEU, is that by the end of the Joker movie, Joker will kill Bruce Wayne. Instead of having Bruce’s parents being the ones to be murdered. Upton his death Thomas Wayne snaps and muders the Joker. Thus becoming this universes version of a brutal Batman who has no problem with killing.

The Flashpoint Paradox is a concept lifted from DC Comics, where the Flash once traveled so fast through time that he ended up dramatically altering reality itself, leading to all kinds of changes to other superhero narratives. It ‘s been strongly hinted that the upcoming standalone Flash movie will make use of this idea to reset the DCEU and introduce new actors in the roles of Superman and Batman while keeping the existing movie versions of Wonder Woman, Flash and Aquaman.

According to the theory, the Batman played by Ben Affleck had actually been Thomas Wayne this entire time, driven to become the darkest version of the Caped Crusader yet because of the murder of his son Bruce at the hands of Phoenix’s Joker. That would mean Pattinson could then safely be set up as the one true Batman after the Flashpoint Paradox resets the timeline.

It’s not the cleanest solution to the continuity mess that the DCEU finds itself in at the moment, and there’s also the fact that Warner Bros. and Joker director Todd Phillips have repeatedly insisted that the movie is not in any way related to the rest of the movies in the DC Cinematic Universe. Still, that won’t stop fans from continuing to speculate about the ways in which future films in the franchise will unfold and connect with each other.

Most Marvel Fans Say They’d Still See A Non-MCU Spider-Man Movie

No matter what happens over the next few months, it looks like the Spider-Man franchise is going to be just fine. Sony has assured everyone that they’ll thrive without Marvel, both Tom Holland and Jacob Batalon don’t seem to be worried about the future of the series and the recent re-release of Spider-Man: Far From Home is pulling in great numbers at the box office. On top of all that, a recent poll now shows that the majority of fans will still go see a movie featuring the web-head even if he’s no longer associated with the MCU.

Almost 13,000 Facebook users voted in a survey and 57% said that they’re planning on seeing the next Peter Parker film, regardless of which studio produces it. While Sony would definitely prefer this number be closer to 100%, the survey does at least prove that the visceral online reaction to the split with Marvel probably won’t affect the upcoming installments’ bottom line. This is a relatively small sample size compared to the millions of Spider-Man fans out there, sure, but it’s also substantial enough to show that the majority of people sound like they’re going to be loyal to the wall-crawler no matter what.

The news of the unexpected fallout last month was met with petitions, boycotts and hashtags from enraged zealots. A few people even proposed storming the corporation’s headquarters to show their displeasure. Thankfully, that talk seems to have died down.

Now, it looks like all of this outrage was just a passing trend. There are still plenty of people who aren’t happy that Peter Parker is out of the MCU, but cooler heads have prevailed and the protestors have started to settle down. Plus, if the poll is any indication, it looks like the Spider-Man franchise isn’t destined for financial failure any time soon. Whether the movies are actually any good from here on out though remains to be seen.

Jennifer Lopez Says It’s Tough to Make Movies That Aren’t Marvel

Marvel‘s been taking over the cinematic landscape for the past few years. It seems like every couple months, fans are gifted with a new release from the beloved studio and practically every huge star has been attached to at least one superhero project in the MCU. Not to mention that Avengers: Endgame shattered nearly every record on its way to becoming the highest-grossing film of all-time, which is a mark that could presumably be beaten in the not-so-distant future by another installment in the franchise.

All of these reasons and more are why Jennifer Lopez believes that it’s tough to make any movie not based off of a Marvel comic books. Speaking in a recent interview, the actress said:

“First of all, it’s hard to make a movie, period. It has to be a Marvel comic or some crazy franchise thing but the smaller movies about humanity and people and life and struggles, you don’t get that as much unless you do that for nothing and there’s no budget.”

Hopefully the trend will change following the expected success of her new flick Hustlers. After premiering this past weekend in Toronto, the film has been met with critical acclaim. The ambitious project stars Lopez, Constance Wu, Julia Stiles, Keke Palmer, Lili Reinhart, Lizzo and Cardi B.

For those unfamiliar with it, the movie was written and directed by Lorene Scafaria and follows a group of strippers in New York City during the financial crisis of the late 2000s. The women band together to try to rip off their Wall Street clients, who they deem responsible for the economic collapse. Lopez’s performance has been deemed the best of her career thus far and is even giving the musician-turned-actress some Oscar buzz.

If the flick really takes off, then maybe studios will open their eyes and see that there’s a thirst for female-led movies out there on the market. In the meantime, expect no shortage of Marvel outings for the foreseeable future. We aren’t complaining, of course, but it definitely would be nice to see more unique stories from women out there in the mainstream.
