YouTube deletes Alex Jones’ channel for violating its community guidelines

YouTube moved on Monday to delete the Alex Jones Channel for violating its community guidelines, the latest in a string of moves from tech giants that could dramatically limit the reach of the Infowars host and conspiracy theorist. The move was the latest in a cascade of platform moves against Jones, following related bans from Apple, Spotify, and Facebook.

Platforms have been under pressure to take action against Jones, who has millions of followers across their networks, after he repeatedly posted videos containing hate speech and child endangerment.

On July 24th, Jones received a strike on his channel after posting videos that contained hate speech against Muslim and transgender people and footage of a child being shoved to the...

Dead Cells is the best Castlevania game in years

It’s a weird time to be a Castlevania fan. While Netflix has reinvigorated interest in the series with a gloriously violent animated show, the games themselves have dried up since the departure of long-time director Koji Igarashi. The most recent official Castlevania title was a pachinko game released in Japan last year. But, as is so often the case, indie developers have stepped up to fill in the gaps. There’s an entire subgenre of 2D action games dubbed “Metroidvanias” that pull from the open-ended structure pioneered by Metroid and later expanded by Igarashi’s Castlevania. It’s not hard to find a game inspired by Castlevania, but it is hard to find one that evokes the same tone and feel. That’s what makes Dead Cells so interesting.

Once Upon A Time In Hollywood Drops First Look At Margot Robbie’s Sharon Tate

BREAKING: Margot Robbie is ready for her close-up.

The prolific actress, who shot to fame via Suicide Squad and The Wolf of Wall Street, has climbed aboard Quentin Tarantino’s Once Upon a Time in Hollywood as Sharon Tate, one of five people killed by the Manson Family almost 50 years ago.

The two lead characters of QT’s period drama are Rick Dalton (Leonardo DiCaprio), former star of a western TV series, and his longtime stunt double Cliff Booth (Brad Pitt). Both are struggling to make it in a Hollywood they don’t recognize anymore. But Rick has a very famous next-door neighbor… Sharon Tate.

Rob Zombie’s Halloween Getting A Steelbook Blu-Ray In October

This October signals the release of a Halloween movie unlike any other.

Whereas before we slogged through one derivative sequel after another, Blumhouse and David Gordon Green have crafted their horror film in such a way that it honors John Carpenter’s original classic… and little else. It’s due to light up theaters in October, but there’s another Halloween-themed product about to release into the wild as well. We’ll give you a clue: Rob Zombie.

Yes, the director’s own unique spin on Michael Myers is finally getting a Blu-ray steelbook, and it’s coming sooner than you think. As spotted by the good folks at Dread Central, Amazon has listed the 2007 horror pic for a Blu-ray release on October 2nd, meaning you’ll be able to get in the spirit of all things Haddonfield before the real deal arrives three weeks later.

Feast thy eyes:

Written and directed by Rob Zombie himself, who’s currently hard at work on another horror flick in the form of 3 From Hell, this particular Halloween remake starred Malcolm McDowell, Scout Taylor-Compton, Sheri Moon Zombie, Danielle Harris, Brad Dourif, Kristina Klebe, Dee Wallace, Tyler Mane and Daeg Faerch.

Nearly two decades after being committed to a mental institution for killing his stepfather and older sister, Michael Myers (Tyler Mane) breaks out, intent on returning to the town of Haddonfield, Ill. He arrives in his hometown on Halloween with the indomitable purpose of hunting down his younger sister, Laurie (Scout Taylor-Compton). The only thing standing between Michael and a Halloween night of bloody carnage is psychologist Dr. Samuel Loomis (Malcolm McDowell).

Look for Rob Zombie’s Halloween to get its own Blu-ray steelbook on October 2nd (pre-order here) – just in time for the long-anticipated arrival of the 2018 sequel on October 19th.

New Video Shows How Ben Affleck Can Be De-Aged For The Batman

Late last week, Matt Reeves (War for the Planet of the Apes) provided a much-needed update on the status of The Batman. While the filmmaker did address some of the more pertinent questions pertaining to his “noir-driven” feature – and the production of which – needless to say, the most pressing matter of all, whether or not Ben Affleck will be donning the cape and cowl, was left open-ended.

Initially slated to be written, directed and starring Affleck, the film may not feature the two-time Academy Award winner whatsoever in the end. After all, Big Ben did step down from helming the picture in 2017, and just last month it was reported that Reeves was looking for an actor fifteen to twenty years younger than Affleck.

Nevertheless, say what you will about the DC fandom, but there’s no denying they’re a resilient bunch. In light of some new-found hope that Affleck might still inhabit the Batcave come 2020, an undyingly loyal fanboy has come up with an ideal solution should Matt choose to have Ben reprise the role.

Twitter user @LandonOLeary posted a forty-second snippet from Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice in which he’s de-aged Ben Affleck. The video – which you can check out below – is actually quite impressive, and can’t help but proffer the very notion of bringing the actor back.

De-aging is nothing new to the superhero racket, of course. Marvel’s used the tool on many MCU installments, including Ant-ManCaptain America: Civil War and Captain Marvel. That said, should DC and WB decide to go that route with The Batman, it could very well turn out to be expensive, or, at the very least, extremely complicated and may not be worth the hassle.

No, Hayley Atwell Won’t Be Appearing In Avengers 4

You can go ahead and cross Hayley Atwell off Marvel’s guestlist for Avengers 4.

That’s according to the actress herself, who took part in the Variety Autocomplete Interview with Ewan McGregor (Star Wars) to promote her role in Goodbye Christopher Robin, the live-action Winnie the Pooh movie which attempts to take a leaf out of Paddington‘s book with its warm and fuzzy family yarn.

For Atwell, though, it’s looking increasingly likely that her Peggy Carter won’t be appearing in the Marvel Cinematic Universe anytime soon, after she admitted that Marvel Studios is yet to contact her about Avengers 4 and is unlikely to do so now that the MCU sequel has entered post-production (albeit with some additional photography and pick-ups still to come).

Asked straight-up if she’s involved in Avengers 4, the actress replied:

Not that I know of.

Short and sweet, then. But this should put to bed any rumors or Internet scuttlebutt linking Agent Carter with next year’s Marvel blockbuster. Couple this with the spinoff TV series, which was pulled off the airwaves after only two seasons, and Hayley Atwell’s time working in the Marvel universe may already be over.

That’s disappointing, then, especially when you consider that the Agent Carter series scored such high reviews before ABC decided to cancel its MCU prequel, leaving the fate of Atwell’s beloved agent up in the air.

This would also rule out any potential flashback scene to MCU past – like, say, one of Captain America returning to the US of A during Avengers 4 as part of some alternate timeline – but then again, we’ve been fooled by Marvel’s cast before.

Whatever the case, Avengers 4 opens big on May 3rd – with or without Hayley Atwell in its midst.
