Keanu Reeves Has A Heartfelt New Year’s Message For His Fans

In terms of popularity, especially among the online community, few celebrities have emerged to be as influential as Keanu Reeves currently is. And whether he recognizes it or not, he’s putting this to good use by sending a hopeful message to his fans as they now embark on a new year.

The actor, who’s been a well-known face since appearing in The Matrix as main protagonist Neo, recently became a sensation again for the John Wick series, where he plays the titular role of a badass hardened assassin whose body count alone would put him in the list of the deadliest fictional characters in history. Of course, Reeves will be reprising his part in both franchises in the near future, and in their respective fourth installments, no less. Indeed,The Matrix 4 and John Wick 4 are currently in production, though because of the restrictions due to the COVID-19 pandemic, progress is being made at a slower rate than one would imagine.

Now that the holiday season is officially behind us, though, the endlessly charismatic actor has given his fans a hopeful message about going into 2021, saying:

“Try and respect others. Try and continue to get the most out of life, and find ways to get that in this situation, but also to respect it. Find ways to connect. If you can. I mean, just… survive.”

Admittedly, 2020 was a bitter year in many regards. Numerous political scandals, civil unrest in tons of countries around the globe, natural disasters like the Australian bushfires and the Taal volcano eruption, not to mention the crowning prodigal son, the novel coronavirus, were but a few of the things that global communities had to endure.

Surviving, as Keanu Reeves says, puts all of these incidents into perspective, be it heartbreaking and tragic. Though let’s just hope that 2021 will prove to be different and end up as a much more hopeful and happy year for everyone.

Michael Keaton Set To Become Main Batman In DCEU Timeline, Not Ben Affleck

It’s fair to say that nobody was expecting the bombshell announcement that Michael Keaton is set to reprise the role of Bruce Wayne for the first time since 1992 in The Flash. How exactly his Batman will factor into things still remains unclear, but we know that he’ll be taking on a Nick Fury-like role as a veteran mentor to young Barry Allen.

Apparently, the film will see the titular hero go back in time in an effort to prevent the death of his mom, which leads to him creating another universe and it’s here that we’ll meet Keaton, with his Caped Crusader being the protector of this alternate reality. Not only that, but we’re now learning that he’ll actually become the main Batman in the DCEU timeline as well eventually, rather than have Ben Affleck or even Robert Pattinson take on that particular role.

In a recent interview with the New York Times, Warner Bros. exec Walter Hamada revealed that there will be multiple versions of the hero within the DC Extended Universe soon, saying:

“Coming up, for instance, Warner Bros. will have two different film sagas involving Batman — played by two different actors — running at the same time.”

Obviously, this caused a bit of confusion, but the writer behind the interview, Brooks Barnes, hopped on Twitter shortly after to explain that these two Dark Knights will be Keaton and Robert Pattinson and it’s the former who’ll be the main Batman moving forward, given that Pattinson’s version exists in a separate continuity and Affleck is being phased out after his return in The Flash. Or that’s how it looks, at least, given that the two Batmen that Hamada is referring to don’t include Big Ben.

Insider Grace Randolph is singing a similar tune as well, saying:

Tell us, though, are you happy to see Michael Keaton become the DCEU’s main Batman in place of Ben Affleck? Or were you hoping for more from the latter following his comeback in The Flash? Let us know down below.

We Can Be Heroes Sequel Reportedly In The Works At Netflix

No one can deny that audiences love a good comic book-style movie, and Robert Rodriguez’s We Can Be Heroes, the other big Christmas Day superhero streaming release featuring Pedro Pascal, has been doing big numbers on Netflix, comfortably sitting as one of the top films on the platform ever since debuting.

For those who haven’t seen it, the pic follows Missy Moreno, the daughter of retired sword fighting hero Marcus Moreno (Pascal), who finds herself taken to a secret bunker along with the other children of ‘Heroics’ when their parents are all captured by aliens. Quickly realizing they aren’t safe, Missy leads the group against their enemy to save not only their moms and dads, but the entire world.

Though not a perfect movie by any means, We Can Be Heroes certainly boasts enough wit, charm and imagination to make for an enjoyable watch and now, The Hollywood Reporter brings word that Netflix is so impressed with its performance that they’ve ordered up a sequel. And sure enough, Rodriguez is expected to return.

Of course, plot details and the like are non-existent at this very early stage, but it’s no real surprise that a follow-up is now in development. After all, most of the streaming giant’s top original movies tend to get sequelized, with Netflix desperate for more big franchises to call their own.

And in the case of We Can Be Heroes, there’s certainly a ton of potential there for further stories to be told in the same world and even possible spinoffs for some of the more popular characters. Indeed, we can only guess where Rodriguez’s imagination will take us next and we’ll be sure to let you know as soon as additional details emerge.
