Greedo Actor Doesn’t Understand Latest Star Wars: A New Hope Change Either

The Han/Greedo confrontation in Star Wars: A New Hope is infamous as it’s gone through many iterations over the years, with George Lucas continually tinkering with the method of the Rodian bounty hunter’s death in the Mos Eisley cantina. The latest twist on the scene comes from the Disney Plus version of the franchise’s original movie and this time, it features a very mystifying addition.

In this version, Han and Greedo shoot each other at practically the same time, with the latter missing, which somewhat fixes the previous changes but doesn’t revert back to Han completely beating Greed to the trigger. But this isn’t the real talking point of the update, as just before he dies, Greedo now cries something that sounds like “Maclunkey!” But what does the word mean?

Well, don’t ask Greedo voice actor Paul Blake, as he revealed to Empire that he’s just as “confused” by it as the fans.

“It confused me incredibly, but I’ve never understood anything about the movies anyway, particularly that. I couldn’t understand it. I couldn’t hear a word at all.”

Blake was then asked why he thinks this sequence keeps getting tweaked over the years. He revealed that he believes it’s because it makes no sense, anyway, considering Greedo is apparently immediately resurrected as he can be glimpsed in the following scene.

“I think it’s just because there’s a big hole in the movie there. “That scene where Greedo dies, I’m there in the next scene. George’s explanation for that was very funny, ‘Well, all Rodians looks the same.’ What, they wear the same clothes? ‘Oh yes.’ George has a great sense of humour, so maybe that’s got something to do with it. But also, I think he’s pressurized a lot by people and wants to do the right thing by both the fans and the story. But God knows, your guess is as good as mine.”

As funny as it is that Greedo appears to shout a nonsense word before his death, there’s actually an explanation that fans have figured out. He’s really saying “Ma Klounkee,” a Huttese phrase which translates to “This is the end for you.” The same utterance was made by the alien Sebulba to Anakin Skywalker in The Phantom Menace. It might sound ridiculous, but it’s actually not a bad bit of world-building on Lucas’ behalf.

Still, Star Wars fans can agree the original scene is the best version. And though there is an obscure answer out there, if this edit becomes the norm from now on, then many a viewer will be left bewildered when they hear Greedo’s final word.

Dolph Lundgren Returns As The Punisher In New Photoshoot

Before Jon Bernthal. Before Ray Stevenson. Before Thomas Jane, there was Dolph Lundgren. Though often forgotten these days – and rarely seen at the time, to be honest – 1989’s The Punisher was the first live-action outing for Frank Castle. The film itself wasn’t great, but Lundgren wasn’t a bad choice for the anti-hero. And now, those fans who’ve held onto the idea of the He-Man star as the Punisher all this time are about to be made very happy, as this photoshoot features the actor (sort of) returning as the character for the first time in 20 years.

Lundgren recently appeared on The Launchpad Podcast and to accompany the show, he donned a Punisher T-shirt in order to recreate a couple of classic comic book covers with the hosts. This is actually a pretty big deal, as it finally sees the actor wearing the iconic skull insignia, something that was bizarrely removed from Castle’s wardrobe in the 1989 movie.

After 1989’s film, the Punisher next appeared on the big screen in 2004’s effort, which went by the same title, starring Thomas Jane. 2008’s Punisher: War Zone followed, with Ray Stevenson replacing Jane. Which of these is considered superior varies fan to fan, but the majority generally agree that the MCU’s version is the greatest of the four. Jon Bernthal debuted as Frank in 2016’s Daredevil season 2, with his own TV series coming the next year.

Tragically, the show was cancelled after two seasons earlier in 2019. Alongside his fellow Marvel-Netflix stars, it’s hoped that Bernthal will return in the franchise in some form. Thankfully, the odds are looking good that he could appear in a movie at some point. But after seeing this photoshoot, wouldn’t it be fun to have an Into the Punisher-verse flick in which all the previous Punishers come together to wipe out the multiverse’s criminals? Ford V Ferrari Review

James Mangold’s Ford V Ferrari is an old-school odyssey, sensationalized by burnt rubber, colliding pigheads, and grease stains. Based on a true story, it contrasts the openness of the road with the restrictiveness of the destination, and while a great deal of its hostility rightfully rests in the laps of assembly line ringleaders, much of the film feels similarly contrived by rehashed nuts and bolts.

However, this strange contradiction makes sense in conversation with its arena. Ford V Ferrari seeks pure cinematic gold when it comes to being voluptuously entertaining, a benchmark it surpasses on several occasions. This is partly because the film is spearheaded by two cases of pleasantly zesty acting – courtesy of the remarkably untapped chemistry between Matt Damon and Christian Bale – as well as an entire ensemble of fine supporting performers. But it’s mostly because the rhythmic velocity of the action is so crisply composed that its most energetic moments seamlessly diffuse upon the audience.

Now, the title which presumably drives the conflict – the contention between the looming factories of Detroit and the meticulous, intimate workshops of Italy – is a bit of a red herring. In actuality, the struggle here is between the clean-polished suits at the top of the Ford Motor Company and the grease monkeys on the asphalt who inhale competition and exhale exhaust fumes. Written by Jez Butterworth, John-Henry Butterworth and Jason Keller, the exploits of Carroll Shelby and Ken Miles, the car designer and driver played by Damon and Bale, are used to flagrantly liken the manufacturing business to the movie business. It’s not too challenging a task to place Carroll and Ken in the shoes of ambitious filmmakers fighting against studio heads for creative control.

What’s interesting is that this tension is based off a desperate vocation. After experiencing persistent embarrassment at the hands of Ferrari vehicles, often effortlessly at that, Henry Ford II (boomingly played by Tracy Letts) becomes hellbent on not only entering the racing scene, but dominating it. Prepared to issue a blank check, he doesn’t care who or what is behind the wheel of that car – at least, that’s what he says – as long as it has the Ford name plastered on front and it’s the first to cross the finish line at the centerfold of high-speed events, the 24 Hours of Le Mans.

With his team, Carroll, the only American to ever win the daylong race and whose health forced him into early retirement, is brought in to conceive the automobile; while Shelby, who’s described most patiently as “difficult,” is brought in to steer. The two are peas of the same pod, whose ability to navigate a car is based almost entirely around their fused relationship with its working; simply put, their passion for the competition is only matched by their passion for the craft, a characteristic Mangold clearly shares with them.

Together, Damon and Bale bicker, batter, battle and forgive. In doing so, they join the ranks of recent films like Once Upon a Time in…Hollywood and classics such as Butch Cassidy and the Sundance Kid in comprising a tongue-in-cheek friendship that, for so many reasons, shouldn’t work but, for one or two vital reasons, does.

Given that Bale plays a loudmouth Cagney – not far from his own well-documented personality – they ironically help the film embody an empirically American motif: The Western. Cast along open ranges and cleared tracks, firing off simple shells of good guys and bad guys, Ford V Ferrari’s humble retainment of entertainment marks the film as an increasingly rare, if one-layered callback to the glorious studio productions of the past. Unfortunately, as the traditionalist suits prepare for their international massacre (“this isn’t the first time Ford has gone to war in Europe”), they increasingly belittle the setting as shallow villainous figures – primarily Josh Lucas’ icky businessman, Leo Beebe – all of whom stomp before thinking. But then again, the point may very well be that Mangold himself has come across one or two higher-ups like that.

But any misgivings bestowed upon Ford V Ferrari by the script are, more or less, eliminated by the film’s big draw: the racing. Gloriously calibrated, simply designed, and modestly edited, audiences are reminded of the dynamite, nearly natural relationship automobiles share with filmmaking; they have, after all, consistently provided the art form with some of its most thrilling sequences, from Winning and Bullitt to The Fast and the Furious and Baby Driver. Cars may not be your thing – they certainly aren’t mine – but for two and a half hours of well-orchestrated, exceptionally-paced action, they will be.

Taylor Swift provoked fans to go after her rivals and now they’re being doxxed

Taylor Swift wants the rights to her own music — and she may have just crossed an ethical line to get it. On Thursday afternoon, Swift asked her gigantic army of fans to get in touch with music industry talent manager Scooter Braun and former label boss Scott Borchetta to “let them know how you feel” about their attempts to keep her from performing her old hits on TV or using them in a Netflix documentary.

That request, of course, would require Taylor’s fans to know how to get in touch. So they promptly began doxxing the pair, publishing what appear to be Braun and Borchetta’s private contact information — including phone numbers and a physical home address — on Twitter.

Zack Snyder Shares New Aquaman Photo From His Justice League Cut

The groundswell of support behind the now-mythical Snyder Cut of Justice League only continues to grow, with fans even marking the two-year anniversary of the movie’s theatrical release by increasing their presence on social media and demanding that the director’s original vision is finally completed and released.

Snyder himself is one of the driving forces behind the movement, with the original architect of the DC Extended Universe frequently releasing new concept art, set photos or still images from the project that were left on the cutting room floor once Joss Whedon stepped in to reshoot huge amounts of Justice League following Snyder’s abrupt departure in the wake of a family tragedy.

Aquaman star Jason Momoa seems to be one of the few to have actually seen the Snyder Cut and only has high praise for the original version of the movie. And now, Zack Snyder has taken to social media to drop yet another unreleased image from Justice League, this time showing Momoa in character as Arthur Curry.

It almost seems as if all of the pieces are falling into place for the Snyder Cut to finally see the light of day. With HBO Max on the horizon, the upcoming streaming service will be looking for some high-profile titles to draw in audiences in the wake of some serious competition from the likes of Netflix, Amazon Primes and Disney Plus, and releasing the director’s original cut of Justice League would certainly generate some huge publicity in the wake of the online fan campaigns.

Tom Holkenborg, better known as Junkie XL, also recently admitted that he finished the score for Snyder’s Justice League, having been replaced by Danny Elfman when the production underwent massive behind-the-scenes upheaval. Even Ryan Reynolds has been getting in on the action, and with each passing day it looks as though the Snyder Cut gets one step closer to becoming a reality.

The Purge 5 Has Cast Its Male Lead

The Purge 5 has found its male lead. Narcos: Mexico star Tenoch Huerta, who played Rafael Caro Quintero in the Netflix series, will be joining the cast of the upcoming horror sequel. This new and final chapter will be helmed by Everardo Gout, who’s known for directing episodes of Mars, Luke Cage, and The Terror, while Huerta is set to join Army of the Dead star Ana de la Reguera onscreen.

Little is known thus far about about the plot of the movie, but it’s obvious that the film will be based around the same premise that’s anchored the popular series thus far. After all, the franchise has made a killing (no pun intended) off of exploring a not-too-distant utopian future where in exchange for 364 days of peace, the American government has agreed to implement one night a year in which all violent crimes are legal.

Over those twelve hours, people are allowed to kill without any legal repercussions. The reasoning behind this theory is that citizens will be able to get out the aggression they’ve been storing up all year while simultaneously eliminating the poorest members of society. Since the less affluent literally can’t afford to defend themselves, they’re often targeted the most.

We do know that this next installment is expected to switch up its landscape a bit, as it’s already been reported that the movie will take the series out of its usual urban/suburban setting. It stands to reason that the next environment could be a desert, the mountains, the forest, the great plains or anything that takes place outside of the metropolitan area. And while we still don’t know what exactly it’ll be just yet, the change of pace could be refreshing for the franchise, as it’d cut down on background noise and really ramp up the suspense.

The Purge 5 will roar into theaters on July 10th, 2020.

New Marvel Theory Says Doctor Strange Is Actually A Bad Guy

While seemingly well-established in the MCU as a hero, Doctor Strange could actually be something else entirely. According to a new theory shared over on Reddit, Benedict Cumberbatch’s character may be heading down a darker path to being a villain. And based on Strange’s storyline to date, and some of the information we’ve heard about Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, the theory does raise some intriguing ideas.

We already know that Marvel are going to be investing heavily in the sequel, which will feature the villainous Nightmare, while Blade‘s Dracula could also make an appearance. At the very least, the Doctor Strange follow-up will be the most straightforwardly horrific of the MCU movies to date, and will also likely tie into the upcoming Disney Plus shows WandaVision and Loki via the multiverse concept.

This latest theory says that Stephen Strange has long been egotistical and indeed may have been tempted by a desire for more power after the events of Avengers: Infinity War and Avengers: Endgame, wherein his predictions contributed to the deaths of Thanos and Tony Stark. The theory goes that Strange’s motivation was to take these two characters out of the picture, leaving him with less-powerful competitors. Furthermore, Cumberbatch played both Strange and Dormammu in Doctor Strange, implying some connection that hasn’t been revealed yet.

Here’s how the Reddit post reads:

Most people think Dr. Strange is a good guy. I’m going to show he’s not. It’s well known Canon, he’s an egotistical asshole who only sought after the ancient one out of pure vanity because he had lost use of his hands. When he finally finds the ancient one, the ancient one even rejects him for this exact reason.

Dr. Strange only wins over the ancient one when mordo the ancient ones disciple betrays him on behalf of dormamu. This was all part of Dormamu’s plan, as the ancient one had already realized mordo was compromised. So in order to subvert the ancient ones role he had to trick the ancient one into naming a successor who’s will would be weak enough to manipulate into to doing his bidding. This is why mordo even goes as far as to help Dr. Strange in his development. Dr. Strange is simply a useful idiot who’s ego will be manipulated into bringing about the destruction of reality.

Enter iron man, with the ancient one out of the way Iron man is the foremost threat to Dormamu. But besides that his technological prowess makes him the antithesis to everything Dr. Strange especially with his frail ego stands for. They even fight the first time they meet. They only stop when distracted by thanos.

To speed this up when strange looks into the future to create the plan that culminates in the failed destruction of the infinity gauntlet. This was a patently absurd plan. There would’ve been several different ways to carry out that plan successfully without relying on starlord. Dr. Strange did this on purpose because while Thanos is a threat, strange through jealously sees iron man as just as big of a threat so he picks the one plan that takes out iron man and Thanos. I’m keeping this short but there’s a lot of evidence to support this.

Not only is Dr. Strange’s plan bad on the level it needlessly kills iron man, it’s bad in this sense it doesn’t actually change anything. Time travel is hypothetically possible into the future but it is unfortunately impossible into the past. While one may find a way to travel into what seems to be the past, they’re actually traveling into a parallel universe in which conditions are seemingly the past. By introducing stimuli that wouldn’t have existed, they’re actually creating an altogether new universe in the multiverse. See Stephen Hawking’s paper “a clean exit from eternal inflation.” The snap has already happened. This can’t be changed and while the universe has been seemingly saved. All threats to Dormamu have seemingly been eliminated as well. Including the time stone.

Dormamu exists in a higher dimension so he’s seemingly unaffected by these changes as well and is probably quite enjoying the subversive spectacle he has carried out. This is why he doesn’t immediately reveal himself. I also suspect now that iron man and frankly Thanos have been removed as threats that Dormamu will either full on indoctrinate strange into one of his soldiers or maybe Dormamu has already done what he wished in the first place.

Create a new reality where he is god and creator. The malevolent being that pulls strings behind the curtain. I’ve often wondered if Captain America hadn’t realized this after iron Man gets killed and feeling utterly defeated opts to stay in the past and enjoy the life he never got to live. I don’t think the new reality is beyond saving but I think like in the amazing spiderman cartoon it’s entirely on spiderman to save the world from dormamu’s subversive tactics.

Personally, I’m not particularly convinced by this argument, especially given that Marvel have so many potential villains to choose from, including Loki and maybe even Galactus or Kang the Conqueror. In addition, Strange going dark doesn’t tie in with recent plot leaks from the new Doctor Strange outing, although who knows what the reality-fracturing events of this arc and others in Loki and WandaVision will do to existing characters.

In any case, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness is currently due out on May 7th, 2021, and we’ll be sure to keep you updated with the latest on Strange’s role as more surfaces.

The wheels are 30 percent bigger than the ones that Boosted ships on its longboards, measuring 105mm in diameter (hence the name), 65mm wide, and 72 durometer — a measure of hardness. They should add about 2 miles per hour to the top speed, meaning the Boosted Plus would be able to reach 24 miles per hour, and the Boosted Stealth can hit 26 miles per hour.

The wheels are also compatible with Boosted’s second generation longboard, but the company says there’s only “limited compatibility” with the Boosted Mini...

DC Fans React To First Look At Dwayne Johnson’s Black Adam

Given that Dwayne Johnson has been attached to Black Adam in some capacity for well over a decade now, you’d be forgiven for taking every time the actor talked up the project with a huge pinch of salt. Given how long the pic seemed to be languishing in development hell, many people thought that the DC Comics adaptation may never even see the light of day.

However, in recent months, Black Adam has been picking up some serious steam, perhaps buoyed by the critical and commercial success that greeted the big screen debut of his arch-nemesis Shazam!, and earlier today, Johnson took to social media to announce an official release date for the movie, as well as provide us with a glimpse of some concept art showing him suited up in costume.

Whereas Zachary Levi’s Shazam! may have needed muscles built into the suit in order to convincingly play a superhero, Dwayne Johnson is hardly going to face similar problems. As arguably the biggest movie star in the world, the actor’s comic book film debut is huge news, and fans were quick to head online and offer their two cents on the official Black Adam announcement.

If Black Adam had been greenlit a few years ago, fans may have been worried given how disappointing the earliest installments of the DC Extended Universe turned out to be. Thanks to the likes of Wonder Woman, Shazam!, Aquaman and even Joker, though, the comic book company’s stock with audiences hasn’t been this high since the days of the Dark Knight Trilogy.

While the plan seems to be for Black Adam and Shazam! to cross paths eventually at some point down the line, Johnson’s superhero debut will focus primarily on the title character in an effort to establish him as a key player in the DCEU going forward. With Black Adam having been teased for so long, hopefully the finished product lives up to over a decade’s worth of hype.
