Ghostbusters: Afterlife Theory Says Paul Rudd Could Be The Keymaster

Even though we’re less than three weeks away from the long-awaited sequel coming to theaters, we don’t know much about the plot of Ghostbusters: Afterlife in any great detail other than the broadest strokes.

However, one rumor hinted that a well-known actress could be set for a cameo appearance as Gozer, which would tie the hybrid of sequel and reboot directly to the 1984 original. The recently-revealed international trailer also showed the Terror Dogs and the Temple of Gozer, so it looks as though things could be coming full circle in Afterlife.

Spider-Man: No Way Home Fans React To Latest Rumored Leaks

Barely a day goes by without some top-secret information purportedly being leaked from Spider-Man: No Way Home, and neither Marvel Studios or Sony have any intention of confirming or denying anything.

The most recent revolved around rumored character descriptions, which offered that Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield would show up wearing Spidey suits very similar to the ones we last saw them in, while Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin will get an upgrade that leans harder into his comic book origins than Sam Raimi’s 2002 effort.

Marvel Advisors Didn’t Want Captain America: The First Avenger To Be A Period Piece

During the buildup to Captain America: The First Avenger, many insiders and analysts were predicting that the movie may struggle to reel in international audiences given its reliance on the United States’ World War II effort, and a star-spangled title hero who acts as the living embodiment of Americana.

To combat this, Marvel Studios and distributor Paramount allowed overseas markets to drop the Captain America prefix if they wanted to, an offer that was gladly taken up by Russia, South Korea and Ukraine. However, it turns out that the comic book company’s own advisors were against the idea of a period piece, and they wanted Kevin Feige to set The First Avengers in the present day.

Army Of Thieves Director Reveals How He Landed The Job

Matthias Schweighöfer was a largely unknown quantity to many viewers before his scene-stealing supporting performance as Dieter in Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, and many fans were left surprised when he was announced to be directing spinoff Army of Thieves, as well as playing the lead role.

However, those that followed the actor and filmmaker’s career in his native Germany would have known that he was more than up to the task. Prior to Netflix’s cross-continental heist caper, Schweighöfer had helmed four popular comedy films, as well as the entirety of Amazon’s twelve-episode dramatic thriller You Are Wanted, all of which he also starred in.

X-Men: First Class Star Says Killing Off His Character Was A Mistake

Brett Ratner’s The Last Stand may have been the highest-grossing entry in the franchise at the time, but it also suffered from the weakest reviews, leading Fox to decide that a reboot of the X-Men series was in order. Despite the incredibly quick turnaround time for a $150 million comic book blockbuster, Matthew Vaughn’s First Class is still regarded as one of the team’s best cinematic outings.

The prequel hit theaters a little over nine months after the director called action on the first day of shooting, which makes it all the more impressive that Vaughn was able to deliver a fast-paced, refreshing, action-packed and exciting rejuvenation of the mythology in such a short space of time.

Eternals Becomes The MCU’s First Rotten Movie On Rotten Tomatoes

It was bound to happen eventually, but for the time being, the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s impeccable track record on Rotten Tomatoes has come to an end. As recently as a couple of weeks ago it seemed impossible to believe that Eternals would be anything other than spectacular, but critics clearly aren’t in agreement with that sentiment.

In a cruel twist of irony, the first installment in the franchise to be helmed by a filmmaker with an Academy Award for Best Director under their belt has turned out as the lowest-rated ever on the aggregation site. At the time of writing, Chloé Zhao’s cosmic epic is sitting just under the threshold at 59%, but it’s not a foregone conclusion quite yet.

Kit Harington once revealed that he’d contemplated quitting acting altogether after Game of Thrones ended, but it clearly wasn’t an option that remained on the table for very long when he admitted he was told there was a role for him in the Marvel Cinematic Universe a year before he was cast in Eternals.

While the 26th installment in the franchise has hardly been drowning in critical acclaim, the performances of the ensemble have been widely praised across the board. Harington’s Dane Whitman goes on to become Black Knight in the comic books, but Eternals needs to get a sequel green lit before we can even consider that a possibility.

That being said, a box office haul of $379 million is more than most Hollywood blockbusters have managed to earn during the pandemic era, so it was far from a failure. However, Black Widow has now been surpassed domestically by Venom: Let There Be Carnage, which moves the symbiotic sequel into second place on the 2021 list, although it’s still trailing well behind Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings‘ $221 million.

Army Of Thieves Review

Only with the creative freedom afforded by Netflix could the first of what’s intended to be many spinoffs from Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead be so drastically unlike the movie that spawned it. This year’s apocalyptic blockbuster was a blood-soaked $100 million zombie action thriller packed with wall-to-wall shootouts and action sequences, all shot with the director’s signature visual flair and sledgehammer subtlety.

Army of Thieves is absolutely nothing like its predecessor. Not only can you go in cold without having seen Army of the Dead, but you’d barely even know it was part of the same universe if it wasn’t for a couple of fever dreams featuring the undead and an epilogue that ties everything together in a neat little blow, helpfully explaining why Dave Bautista’s Scott Ward found Matthias Schweighöfer’s Ludwig Dieter in a store named Gwendoline’s.

Marvel’s Eternals Could Be The First MCU Movie To Get A Rotten RT Score

Marvel’s Eternals could be about to break a big record for the MCU – but not in a good way. Despite the lack of brand recognition for the team, the hype was high for Eternals, thanks to its ensemble cast, Oscar-winning director in Chloe Zhao and stunning visuals, as teased by the trailers. However, now that reviews are out, they’re surprisingly lukewarm, with the majority of critics labeling the film as one of the weakest entries in the franchise.

Unlike most MCU movies, for instance, Eternals didn’t open with a Certified Fresh score on Rotten Tomatoes – and things have only got worse from there. At the time of writing, Zhao’s Marvel debut is sitting at just 61% on RT on the back of 105 reviews. It’s still just about fresh, then, but Eternals is dangerously close to losing that rating. If the middling verdicts keep coming in, it could easily slip below the 60% mark, making it officially Rotten.

New Resident Evil: Welcome To Raccoon City Promo Shines A Light On Albert Wesker

Reaction to the debut trailer for Resident Evil: Welcome to Raccoon City was mixed. There’s a ton of fun Easter eggs and references packed into it, but also some terrible CGI and a general aura of B-movie cheapness. I’m still hyped: after all, Resident Evil has always taken its inspiration from B-movies, and I’m hopeful the more iffy monster FX shots will be improved in the final product.

One aspect that’s also questionable is the casting: sure, the scenery looks like it’s been ripped from Capcom’s games, but the characters seem quite different. Now we’re getting a series of “character vignettes”, with the latest focusing on Tom Hopper’s villainous Albert Wesker. Check it out:
