Daisy Ridley Teases Her Dramatic Final Scene In Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker

This December, Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker will conclude the Sequel Trilogy that began four years ago with 2015’s The Force AwakensThat’s big news for fans, but think about how massive that is for the cast, many of whom had their acting careers launched with the franchise and have been working in that galaxy far, far away for the past half-decade. It must be pretty damn emotional to be saying goodbye.

It certainly was for Daisy Ridley, according to the actress herself. Without giving away any spoilers, the Star Wars star touched on her final scene in the movie while speaking on the Couch Surfer podcast. Apparently, Ridley was the final person to wrap filming. And in a cruel bit of irony, her last shot involved her crying on camera.

“I was the last person to wrap. It was my final shot and I’m just crying in the shot… It was incredibly dramatic.”

Ridley went on to recall what she did following her wrap on the film, explaining that a lot more crying happened off-camera too that day.

“I hugged a number of people and then got in the car and looked out the window like I was in a music video: tears rolling down my face, hand to the window, thinking about days gone past,”

The actress’ intense emotion on her last day might get fans worrying that Rey meets some dark fate in Episode IX. The good news though is that we’ve reason to believe that she’ll rise again following the conclusion of the Skywalker Saga. Our intel points to Ridley returning in one of the upcoming trilogies Lucasfilm has in the works. She won’t be as major a presence as she’s been so far, but we’re hearing she may have a prominent supporting role, much like Luke, Leia and co. in the Sequel Trilogy.

But what was the context for this tearful scene that Ridley filmed right at the end of the movie? Is she witnessing a tragic death? Is she parting ways with a loved one? Our questions will all be answered when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.
