To True Believers the world over, the Spider-Verse concept isn’t entirely new. Basically, it expands upon the idea of the multiverse and applies it to the various iterations of Spider-Man that have existed – and then teams them up for some sort of kick-ass crossover.
But in recent years, we’ve seen this gain more mainstream exposure thanks to the Ultimate Spider-Man animated series. In that, viewers were treated to a multi-episode arc featuring an assortment of Webheads. Then, the theatrically released Spider-Man: Into The Spider-Verse animated movie took it to a different level.
Well, if Spider-Man: Far From Home star Tom Holland were to get his way, a live action version will come to fruition. Furthermore, he’d like to stand alongside his predecessors, Tobey Maguire and Andrew Garfield:
“Of course I would love to make a movie with those guys, it would be so cool! It would be amazing, it would be really, really cool. And it’s something that the fans really want. So whether Marvel and Sony decided to do that, it’s up to them. It’s not up to me, I can’t walk in like ‘Kevin [Feige], this is what we’re doing on the next one.’ But it would be really awesome.”
Though none of us should hold our breath concerning this matter, I must admit we can’t entirely rule out the possibility of this ever happening. Don’t forget, Far From Home is set to further explore the multiverse, a subject merely hinted at by Doctor Strange a few years back.
Despite it not being a full-blown Spider-Verse affair, it’s highly recommended that you check out Spider-Man: Far From Home once it arrives in theaters on July 2nd. I mean, not only does it look to be an enjoyable flick, but it could very well chart the course for the future of the Marvel Cinematic Universe.
