One cosmic hero that fans have been waiting to see in the MCU since forever is Nova. Guardians of the Galaxy delivered a much different version of the Nova Corps from the comics, but Richard Rider was nowhere to be seen. Still, the introduction of the space police left the door open for the character to eventually arrive. And new information points to this finally happening in Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
A user known as TheMarvelScoopMaster has turned up on Reddit over the past few days and has been sharing some juicy supposedly leaked intel on the future of the MCU. A lot of what he’s saying is very plausible and tees up with what we’re hearing elsewhere. Case in point: when asked by a fan if Nova was on his way to the franchise in Phase Four, the Redditor wrote that we can expect to see the hero in James Gunn’s upcoming closer to the Guardians trilogy.
There has been a lot of news swirling about Nova over the past couple of years, from official figures too. The Russos, for instance, teased that Gunn could be about to tackle the character in the MCU. Meanwhile, Kevin Feige promised that Nova has “immediate potential” in the franchise. Other reports point to Nova getting a solo movie, but this seems less certain.
If we’re to believe all the rumors and reports about the threequel, though, Vol. 3 is set to have a hugely inflated cast. Adam Warlock’s also expected to make his long-awaited MCU debut, with a possible appearance from Beta Ray Bill on the way too. Then there’s Quasar, Moondragon, Lylla and the villain of the piece, the High Evolutionary (possibly played by Mark Hamill) to think about.
TheMarvelScoopMaster also warns that a Nova announcement won’t be made official for another year or so. This fits with the fact that Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 is said to start shooting in 2020.
