Tom Holland Might Be Playing A Second Character In Spider-Man: Far From Home

Spider-Man: Far From Home‘s second trailer dropped many new clues about what to expect from this summer’s Spidey sequel. The one that’s grabbed most of the attention is the revelation that Jake Gyllenhaal’s Mysterio is apparently from another universe, thereby introducing the concept of the multiverse to the MCU for the first time. And, if one theory’s correct, it could introduce an alternate version of the wall-crawler himself, as well.

A clip from the film that followed the release of the trailer sees Jake Gyllenhaal’s Quentin Beck explaining more about the multiverse to Peter Parker. The mainline Marvel universe, he states, is Earth-616. Beck, meanwhile, is from Earth-833. The most notable fact about this world in the comics is that it’s the home dimension of William Braddock AKA Spider-UK.

So, was this a random choice of Earth for Mysterio to come from, or could it be teeing up a cameo from the British hero in the movie? That’s the idea suggested by YouTuber Charlie Schneider/Emergency Awesome.

Obviously, much has been said about the likelihood that Mysterio is telling some fibs here as he’s not known as the Master of Illusions for nothing. Schneider argues, though, that while Beck might be lying about being a hero, he could very well be telling the truth about the multiverse and his status as a citizen of Earth-883. If this is the case, then an appearance from Spider-UK wouldn’t be out the question. It’s even speculated that Tom Holland, a natural Brit, will play the part with his own accent for once.

Seeing as Spider-Man: Into the Spider-Verse just introduced audiences to the concept of a myriad of Spider-people, it doesn’t seem like such a crazy notion that this cameo could happen. Plus, Holland’s said that one shocking moment in the movie will leave viewers feeling like they’ve been punched in the face (in a good way). Not to mention it’d also be mighty cruel of Marvel to tease fans with the multiverse and then snatch it away from us.

Either way, though, all will be revealed when Spider-Man: Far From Home swings into theaters on July 2nd.
