Considering how Avengers: Endgame clocked in at around three hours in length, it can be somewhat hard for moviegoers to pick out their favorite moments from amongst so much awesomeness. Of course, there’s the obvious stuff that’ll forever change the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s landscape, but there are also the little things to enjoy.
One of those which stuck out to me, at least, was when Thanos’ army was greeted by a group of female heroes during the film’s unforgettable third act. For fans of comic books, this seemed like a nod given towards A-Force, a team comprised solely by women fighting the good fight.
So, if you also dug that moment, then you should like the pair of photos Robert Downey Jr. recently posted to Instagram. In them, the man behind Tony Stark enjoys some downtime with MCU stalwarts such as Gwyneth Paltrow and Zoe Saldana, in addition to fresh faces like Letitia Wright and Danai Gurira – and everyone in between.
If you’re familiar with the source material, then you may have noticed how the exact A-Force lineup wasn’t reflected onscreen, but I don’t think that really matters. Super groups have often seen lineup ships when adapted to film, so I’m not going to dwell on the absence of someone like, say, She-Hulk.
Right now, we can’t be entirely sure of whether Kevin Feige and company will actually pursue an A-Force movie, but it’s certainly fun pondering the possibilities. I don’t know about you, but I’d purchase a ticket because when it comes down to it, a cool superhero is a cool superhero, regardless of gender.
Avengers: Endgame is now playing in theaters.
