Justice League’s Ray Fisher Praises Avengers: Endgame

To this day, the never-ending Marvel vs. DC argument rages on as only few can. Really, this supposed rivalry is comparable to bad blood shared between competing sports teams and is met with a fanatical zealotry more often than it should be. As someone who enjoys the works of both publishers, I don’t see why more people can’t follow suit.

Now, with the enormous success of Avengers: Endgame being one of the top news stories around, the memes belittling DC have already begun circling. Of course, Earth’s Mightiest Heroes’ latest adventure absolutely trounced Justice League when it came to dollars raked in, but that doesn’t take anything away from the enduring popularity of Batman, Superman and Wonder Woman; that just means the studio dropped the ball when it came to handling them.

Much like many talented folks who work in front of or behind the camera – or in the comic book industry, for that matter – the Marvel/DC rivalry is apparently silly in the eyes of actor Ray Fisher. Taking to Twitter, the DC Extended Universe’s Cyborg went the classy route by expressing his approval for Endgame:

“You’ve certainly come a long way, Avengers. Bravo!”

Let it also be known that Fisher’s Tweet was accompanied by several different applause emojis, so there’s little room for misinterpretation. In my view, the high praise is well deserved because I believe Endgame to be one of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s finest offerings.

Come to think of it, Fisher isn’t the only person from the other side of the aisle saying the supposed war is ridiculous, lest we forget Shazam! director David F. Sandberg’s words from last month:

“I’ve always believed, that which unites comic book fans, is much greater than that which divides us. And so the whole Marvel, DC rivalry thing is kind of bullshit. Because really we’re all fans of the same thing. I love the fact that he’s directed a movie for Marvel and directed a movie for DC. And the Earth is not spinning off its axis. It’s okay.”

To provide some context, that was in reference to James Gunn directing movies based on both Marvel and DC properties. As he readies The Suicide Squad for a summer 2021 release, let’s not forget how Gunn was also given a producer credit on Avengers: Endgame, so he firmly has each foot planted in both universes.
