Avengers: Endgame Writer Says The MCU’s X-Men Will Be Very Different From Fox’s

The X-Men and the Fantastic Four are coming to the MCU…eventually. Thanks to Disney’s historic merger with Fox, Marvel Studios got the rights back to their missing characters earlier this year, which means that we’re on road to seeing rebooted versions of the First Family and the mutant heroes that can finally crossover with the likes of Spider-Man, Black Panther and Doctor Strange.

The only thing is that we’ve been told not to get too excited just yet as president Kevin Feige has warned that the studio won’t get around to introducing the X-Men and the FF into the MCU for a “very long time.” And though that’s certainly not what we want to hear, at least we’ve now been promised that when the time comes, it’ll have been worth the wait.

In an in-depth interview with the Los Angeles Times, Christopher Markus, who co-wrote Avengers: Endgame, spoke on the topic of the new glut of characters Marvel’s just received from the merger, promising that Feige will deliver something unlike what we’ve seen before.

“It’ll be fascinating to see what Kevin Feige does with the properties he’s now getting from the Fox merger with X-Men and Fantastic Four. And to see what the MCU version of those things is, because I very much doubt it will be something that resembles what you’ve seen before. So that will be very exciting.”

Feige has only revealed so far that he’s got “vague” ideas about how to approach working these iconic characters into the already bulging franchise, but that hasn’t stopped fans from coming up with theory after theory after theory about how it could be done.

A common thought was that Endgame would tee up the introduction of the X-Men or the origins of the Fantastic Four, but that didn’t turn out to be the case – at least as far as we can tell. If you have any ideas about how the movie could have laid some breadcrumbs, though, be sure let us know in the comments section down below.
