For the past year, it’s been a fairly popular prediction that Tony Stark will meet a tragic end in the upcoming Avengers: Endgame, but in the new TV spot for next week’s release, Iron Man himself doesn’t seem too keen on the idea.
The promo first emerged earlier this week to mark ten days until the release of the Avengers: Infinity War sequel, but now it comes to us in a much better quality, allowing fans a more detailed look at such sights as Tony flicking a shrunk-down Ant-Man off his shoulder.
Robert Downey Jr.’s character also gets the key line of the TV spot, telling Steve Rogers, “We’re trying to pull off something damn near impossible, and to not die trying would be nice.” Given how many snap victims already have sequels lined up, the team may well pull off the impossible, but whether or not they die trying remains to be seen.
Though a lot of people are nervous about the fate of Tony, the internet seems at least as concerned that his friend Captain America won’t make it out of this movie alive. Even Chris Evans himself has joked about his character’s possible demise, much to the horror of the fans.
Either way, it’s generally assumed that Avengers: Endgame will serve as the final outing for Stark, Cap and perhaps even a few more fan favorites. If so, then Downey seems to think that he’ll be going out on a strong note, singling out the movie’s last eight minutes as possibly the best eight minutes in the history of the MCU. A bold claim, but we’ll see if the film can live up to the hype when it arrives in theaters on April 26th.
