Star Wars Legend Mark Hamill Says Disney Can’t Fire Him For Trolling His Fans

Mark Hamill boasts a long history of trolling his fans with fake Star Wars reveals, and during a recent appearance on Late Night with Seth Meyers, the actor took a moment to reflect on his online mischief.

While discussing his role in the second season of Knightfall, Hamill joked that he took the job as a “challenge,” because “eventually Star Wars is going to go away.” He then suggested that after the release of J.J. Abrams’ The Rise of Skywalker, his days of screwing with his fans will finally come to an end:

“[Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker] comes out in December, so I only have eight months of trolling left.”

Hamill went on to revel in his ability to wind up his followers, pointing out that there’s not much Disney can do to stop him:

“I love to tease the fans online. It drives them crazy. I’m sure Disney is not happy about it, but what are they gonna do, fire me? It’s too late.”

Indeed, Hamill may well have filmed his final scenes for the franchise, seeing how Abrams’ upcoming trilogy-closer is set to be the concluding chapter in the Skywalker Saga. But until he’s well and truly out of the game, it sounds like the star has every intention to continue trolling his fans.

In the last few months, Hamill’s Twitter feed has been the setting for a constant stream of fake trailer reveals and phony titles. Of course, after last Friday’s big reveal, the actor will have to find new ways to tease his followers, though given how much secrecy still surrounds The Rise of Skywalker, he’s hardly at a loss for ammo.

For one thing, we currently know very little about Luke’s role in the Sequel Trilogy finale. After the character passed away in The Last Jedi, it’s generally assumed that he’ll return either in flashbacks or as a Force Ghost, but we can find out for ourselves when Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker hits theaters on December 20th.
