This weekend brought us a new look at Avengers: Endgame, courtesy of a Super Bowl TV spot. The promo might have only been 30 seconds long, but it packed a whole lot of new material into its short runtime. Plus, with those precious few seconds and the previous 2 minute and 25 second trailer, we now have a solid 2 minutes and three quarters worth of footage to rewatch incessantly for the next couple of months.
And to help make that easier, the supercut above puts both the first full-length preview that dropped back in December and yesterday’s TV spot together. When watched back to back, you can get a much clearer view of what we have in store with the fourth Avengers movie. In short, the world’s definitely in a dark place after Thanos wiped out half of the population in Avengers: Infinity War, and the remaining heroes aren’t taking their defeat lying down.
The two trailers together also give us a glimpse of everyone still left after the Decimation. Iron Man appears heavily in the first, for instance, but there’s no sign of War Machine or Rocket. These two characters then appear in multiple clips in the second while Tony doesn’t show up much. From what we can gather, it looks like the group might be split up into three, at least initially: Stark and Nebula in space, Thor and Rocket on another mission and then Cap and the rest back at Avengers HQ.
Of course, there’s still a lot that Marvel’s deliberately keeping under wraps for now. For instance, we haven’t got a hint at any of the time travel hijinks in store or even a glimpse at the team’s new Quantum Realm matching suits. We’ll probably have to wait for the second full trailer to dig a little deeper into the plot, but if one thing’s for sure, it’s that we’re getting ever closer to Avengers: Endgame‘s arrival in theaters on April 26th.
