Mark Hamill Shares Awesome Fan Art In Remembrance Of Carrie Fisher

Yesterday marked the two-year anniversary of Carrie Fisher‘s passing, and while the day served as a sad and solemn occasion for Star Wars fans everywhere, it’s worth remembering that the actress herself had a sense of humor about everything up to and including death. This is, after all, the same woman who famously said that she wanted her obituary to read that she died drowning in moonlight, strangled by her own bra.

You therefore have to imagine that Fisher would appreciate this fan art recently shared by her co-star Mark Hamill. The actress is looking very saintly in an image that has carrying her French Bulldog Gary in her left hand, while she flips us the bird with her right. Hamill accompanied this cheeky picture with a message showing his appreciation for the many fan tributes that have been flooding social media:

“It makes me so happy to know how overwhelmed & touched she would be by the worldwide outpouring of love & affection for her today…

#AlwaysWithUs #CarrieOnForever #KeepMovingThingsAreBoundToBeImproving”

In these last couple of days, we’ve seen an overwhelming number of posts from fans and loved ones who wish to mark the two-year anniversary of Fisher’s passing in whatever way they see fit. The star’s own daughter Billie Lourd, for example, took to Instagram with a video that paid tribute to her late mother through song, explaining that Fisher once said that you should “take your broken heart and turn it into art.”

Though Carrie Fisher shot her final scenes as Leia Organa for 2017’s Star Wars: The Last Jedi, we’ll be seeing Hamill’s old co-star back on our screens once more in next year’s Star Wars: Episode IX by way of unused footage from her last two films. Though the movie may prove a bittersweet watch for the the actress’ many fans, here’s hoping that J.J. Abrams and the team can give Leia the sendoff she deserves when the film hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.
