This was supposed to be it. After what’s been an excruciatingly long wait, this week was finally going to bring with it our very first look at Avengers 4.
Granted, Marvel still hasn’t made any official announcements, but all the speculation pointed to November 28th being the day that fans around the world got to lay eyes on the hugely anticipated sequel. Not only did the studio release the first Infinity War trailer on the last Wednesday of November in 2017, but there’s also a special Q&A screening of the aforementioned film being held on the 28th, which only added more fuel to the fire that that would be the day when the preview made its big debut. But it seems we now have to wait a little bit longer for it to drop.
MCU Cosmic’s Jeremy Conrad, who’s usually pretty reliable with his intel, took to Twitter this evening to burst the bubbles of millions by telling us that it’s “doubtful” the trailer will arrive this week. He isn’t ruling it out completely mind you, but it’s not sounding too promising as of now.
“Don’t get too hyped up for an Avengers 4 trailer this week,” Conrad wrote. “If it happens, that’s great, but as of right now (Monday afternoon) it’s starting to sound doubtful. Fingers crossed that things change and they surprise everyone.”
Yeah, we’ve got our fingers crossed, too, Jeremy. Frankly, it’s a bit shocking how much radio silence there’s been from Marvel in regards to the trailer, but at the same time, it’s not exactly like they even need to market the thing, right?
I mean, they could literally release Avengers 4 in May without having given us so much as a single photo or second of footage and arguably, the pic would still gross billions of dollars. In fact, it could even perform better that way since there’d be more intrigue surrounding it since nothing was shown off beforehand. But we highly doubt that’s the route Marvel will take.
Rest assured, we’ll get a trailer – or two – and all the other usual goodies, but it just may be a few more weeks before we see something. As always, though, watch this space for more.
