Is it too much of a stretch to say that Avengers 4 is the biggest Hollywood movie currently in development? Probably not, but all we know for sure right now is that when Joe and Anthony Russo’s untitled sequel does arrive, it’ll completely upend the MCU we know and love.
For instance, outgoing Captain America star Chris Evans is confident that Avengers 4 will deliver on those sky-high expectations when it arrives in theaters next summer. Case in point: while appearing at ACE Comic Con this past weekend, Evans skated around the elephant in the room, before stressing that Marvel Studios simply “don’t miss” when it comes to launching their biggest tentpoles.
There’s just nothing that I can say but there’s so much good stuff…there’s so many good things. I mean, I guess all I can say is if Marvel has proven anything it’s just that they know what they’re doing. They know what they’re doing. I don’t think they’ve missed a beat. Their worse mistakes are other studios’ like biggest blessings you know what I mean? Like, they don’t miss, they don’t miss, and they have not missed with this one and it really is just an incredible culmination of this unbelievable tapestry of…I mean, how many individual series is it? Is it like, what six, seven individual parts coming together.
That’s a phrase Evans has repeated time and time again in the lead-up to Avengers: Infinity War, and after collecting $2 billion in box office receipts, it’s fair to say that the Russo Brothers’ Marvel mash-up was a landmark success for everyone involved.
But Infinity War is a difficult act to follow, so we’re intrigued to see how Joe and Anthony Russo – not to mention the core cast and crew – have handled the pressure knowing that Avengers 4 is among the most important MCU movies ever released. Hyperbole? Perhaps, but it’s no secret that the events of next year’s blockbuster will have a lasting impact on Marvel’s flagship for years to come.
Expect Avengers 4 to light up theaters the world over on May 3rd, 2019.
