Whatever your personal opinions on it, there’s no denying Solo: A Star Wars Story was the first flop of Disney’s era of Star Wars. On the back of fan disinterest in a Han Solo origins tale, and the bad publicity that came from the firing of Phil Lord and Chris Miller, the prequel starring Alden Ehrenreich failed to make a splash at the box office, potentially even putting to bed all of Lucasfilm’s plans to make more Anthology movies.
With so much juicy material to work with, naturally, the folks at Screen Junkies lay into Solo in their latest Honest Trailer. To be fair, the voiceover guy has a few complimentary things to say, but mostly, they argue that the whole enterprise was just an OK time at the movies and didn’t really need to exist.

Screen Junkies probably hit it on the head with the line “prepare for a feature-length adaptation of Han Solo’s Wookiepedia page,” as Solo is more preoccupied with explaining the origins of the character’s accessories – his blaster, the Falcon, even his golden dice – and his catchphrases – “I know” – than actually exploring the personality of the man who’ll become Harrison Ford. In fact, SJ go as far to say that Han’s “the blandest character in his own movie.”
That might be a little harsh, but for those who aren’t fans of Ehrenreich’s interpretation of the scruffy-looking nerf herder, the likelihood is that there won’t be a Solo 2 anytime soon. Which is kind of sad, as the movie itself promises what could have been a much more exciting sequel, featuring Han meeting Jabba on Tatooine and Qi’Ra working for Darth Maul on Dathomir.
All that said, your Star Wars collection wouldn’t be complete without Solo: A Star Wars Story, which is available on DVD and Blu-Ray now.
