After orchestrating a Secret Service and inviting viewers into the Golden Circle, it seems writer-director Matthew Vaughn is getting ready now to complete his boisterous Kingsman trilogy.
Word comes by way of Exhibitor Relations, who tell us that Vaughn has plans for a potential trilogy-capper, which isn’t all that surprising when you consider that he’s always envisioned Kingsman as a three-film arc. In fact, Fox has made things official now by handing the threequel a release date: November 8th, 2019.
From what we understand, Vaughn and long-time collaborator Jane Goldman are already working on the script, though details on the story and what exactly it’ll involve aren’t known at this time. Whether the studio will reserve space for the likes of Channing Tatum (Agent Tequila), Halle Berry (Agent Whiskey) and Jeff Bridges (Champagne) to return in the not-so-distant future remains to be seen, but we’ll be keeping a close eye on this action sequel as things begin to fall into place.
Of course, as fans will know, this closer to the trilogy is just the tip of the iceberg. Vaughn revealed to Empire recently that, though Kingsman 3 will act as “the conclusion of the Harry Hart-Eggsy relationship,” we shouldn’t fear that the franchise is coming to an end any time soon, as he’s also got three other projects in development in the form of two more movies and a spinoff TV series.
From what we understand, one of the films will be a prequel that’ll explore the spy organization’s adventures in the 1990s, while the other will focus on the Statesman, the US equivalent to the Kingsman who were last seen in The Golden Circle. And as for the TV show? Well, it’ll take the form of a miniseries, consisting of only eight episodes, though plot details haven’t been revealed for it just yet.
In any case, it’s clear that fans of the Kingsman franchise have much to look forward to over the next few years and as soon as more news rolls in on the threequel, we’ll be sure to let you know.
