Oppo’s new smartwatch looks just like the Apple Watch

Oppo has given us its best look yet at its upcoming smartwatch on the way — and it looks almost exactly like an Apple Watch.

The new watch will be called the Oppo Watch, and more will be announced about it on March 6th at the company’s Oppo Find X2 launch event, according to a tweet the company posted on Monday.

There’s still a lot we don’t know about the device, including price or many of its features, but there are a few things we can speculate about from this one image. It looks like you can use the watch to make and receive calls. And if you look at the watch on the...

AT&T TV now available nationwide with Android TV set-top box — and a two-year contract

Image: AT&T TV

AT&T TV is launching nationwide today after initially rolling out to over a dozen markets last year. The subscription TV service — not to be confused with AT&T TV Now (formerly DirecTV Now) — is contract-based, which is a departure from the freedom you get with month-to-month streaming TV apps like YouTube TV, Hulu with Live TV, and Sling TV. Signing up for a two-year agreement gets you an Android TV set-top box and a very cable-like remote control (with a Google Assistant button).

AT&T is trying to position AT&T TV as its premium streaming TV experience; it’s more for people seeking a better cable / satellite alternative than a cheaper one. This is basically AT&T’s next play as it moves on from DirecTV, which continues to bleed...

Sharp plans to start making face masks at one of its factories in Japan in response to surging demand sparked by the coronavirus outbreak, The Associated Press reports. The plant, in Kameyama, Mie prefecture, is usually used for mass-producing large LCD panels and assembling TVs.

Sharp will make 150,000 masks a day by the end of this month, rising to as much as 500,000 a day. The facility is said to be well-suited for mask production because of the essential high standards of cleanliness. Mike Bloomberg cosplays as president in coronavirus ad

Democratic Presidential Candidate Mike Bloomberg Campaigns Ahead Of Super Tuesday Photo by Joe Raedle/Getty Images

Billionaire Mike Bloomberg’s presidential campaign purchased primetime ad space Sunday night — reportedly worth at least $1 million — so the former New York City mayor could cosplay as the president of the U.S. He addressed the nation, vaguely, about the threat of coronavirus.

Bloomberg’s ad ran around 8:30PM ET on CBS and NBC, during “God Friended Me,” a CBS exclusive about an atheist who gets a friend request from God. The ad space could have cost the Bloomberg campaign anywhere from $1.25 to 3 million, The New York Times reported Saturday.

In this three-minute ad, Bloomberg stands in a room — or in front of a green screen of a room? — that looks remarkably similar to the White House’s Oval Office. He wears a pin in the shape of an...

Netflix Added A Ton Of Great Movies Today For March

Today is March 1st, which means we have a whole new set of titles to tell you about that just dropped on Netflix. The streaming service has 54 new movies/TV shows from nearly every major studio, including Warner Bros., Paramount and Sony, and while that number is still ten less than what we got last March, there’s far more original content on the service than there was a year ago. So, trust me when I say you’ve got plenty of options.

So many options, in fact, that I often find myself browsing for so long that I can’t decide on what to watch until it gets too late and I go to bed instead. First world problems, right?

In any case, below you’ll find the full list as well as a few descriptions of some personal favorites. Or some that I just felt like commenting on. Enjoy!

Full List of New Releases on Netflix for March 1st, 2020

46 New Movies

  • Any Given Sunday (1999)
  • Beyond the Mat (1999)
  • Bhangra Paa Le (2020)
  • Change in the Air (2018)
  • Cop Out (2010) – Kevin Smith made a cop movie with Bruce Willis and Tracy Morgan and while it’s pretty forgettable, hearing Smith talk about the making of it is pretty fun. Apparently, working with Willis is the worst and Smith didn’t pull any punches when speaking about the experience. It’s probably safe to say they’ll never be working together again.
  • Corpse Bride (2005)
  • Don Verdean (2015)
  • Donnie Brasco (1997)
  • Failure to Launch (2006)
  • Frank & Lola (2016)
  • Freedom Writers (2007)
  • Ghosts of Girlfriends Past (2009)
  • GoodFellas (1990)
  • Gridiron Gang (2006)
  • Harlem Nights (1989)
  • Haywire (2011) – An underrated Steven Soderbergh movie. Imagine if he directed one of the Bourne films and this is what you’d get. The fight scene between Michael Fassbender and Gina Carano is worth the price of admission alone.
  • He’s Just Not That Into You (2009)
  • Hook (1991)
  • Hugo (2011)
  • Johnny English Reborn (2011)
  • Kung Fu Panda 2 (2011)
  • Lemony Snicket’s A Series of Unfortunate Events (2004)
  • Life as We Know It (2010) – This is weird because I randomly thought about this movie about a week ago. I remember seeing the trailer for it, too, and thinking it had a great premise for a romantic comedy. Upon further review, it looks like the film did better than I thought as well.
  • Looney Tunes: Back in Action (2003)
  • Mo’ Money (1992)
  • Mystic River (2003)
  • Ordinary World (2016)
  • Outbreak (1995) – Remember when streaming sales for Contagion went up because of the recent Coronavirus outbreak? Well, I can see something similar happening with Outbreak. It’s not even close to being one of Wolfgang Peterson’s best films, but people might want to check it out now just out of curiosity.
  • Pop, Lock ‘n Roll (2017)
  • Resident Evil: Apocalypse (2004)
  • Resident Evil: Extinction (2007)
  • Richie Rich (1994)
  • Rugrats Go Wild (2003)
  • Semi-Pro (2008) – When this movie came out, I remember thinking: I love Will Ferrell comedies and I also love basketball. This is surely a win-win, right? Oh how wrong I was.
  • Sleepover (2004)
  • Space Jam (1996)
  • Sylvanian Families: Everyone’s Big Dream Flying in the Sky (2019)
  • The Bounty Hunter (2010)
  • The Gift (2015)
  • The Interview (2014)
  • The Last Samurai (2003)
  • The Shawshank Redemption (1994) –  Remember all those years watching this classic on TNT or TBS? It would take about 4 hours because of commercials, but now you can get through it uninterrupted.
  • There Will Be Blood (2007)
  • Tootsie (1982)
  • Valentine’s Day (2010)
  • ZZ TOP: THAT LITTLE OL’ BAND FROM TEXAS (2019)

7 New TV Series Added Today

  • Akama ga Kill! (Season 1)
  • Babylon Berlin (Season 3) Netflix Original
  • Sylvanian Families Mini Episodes Clover (Season 1)
  • The Story of God with Morgan Freeman (Season 3)
  • Toot-Toot Cory Carson (Go! Go! Cory Carson) (Season 2) Netflix Original
  • Velvet Colección (Grand Finale)
  • Voice (Season 1)

1 New Stand-up Specials Added Today

  • Voulez-vous rire avec moi ce soir? (2018)

So, there you have it. Older movies, newer movies, TV series I’ve never heard of and yet another stand-up special. Like I said, Netflix has tons of great content. Good luck getting through it all, though.

Batman: Gotham By Gaslight Live-Action Movie Reportedly In Development

While we’re getting lots of news about Matt Reeves’ The Batman, it appears that Warner Bros. are still keen to develop more standalone projects for the Dark Knight. And that’s because according to our sources, the same ones who told us Diana would get her golden eagle armor in Wonder Woman: 1984, and that Han was returning in Fast & Furious 9, WB want to build on the success of Joker with Elseworlds-style pictures placing familiar DC characters in unusual situations.

One of these projects is tipped to be a new take on Batman: Gotham by Gaslight, which has already had a well-received animated adaptation and is now set to get the live-action treatment, with the studio said to be in early, early development on it. As fans will know, the original one-shot came out in 1989, courtesy of Brian Augustyn, Mike Mignola and P. Craig Russell and focused on a 19th century reimagining of Bruce Wayne and Batman taking on Jack the Ripper. The blending of the steampunk genre with the trappings of Gotham City were a success, and it’s considered to be the first Elseworlds publication, albeit one that came before the label was used by DC to distinguish its self-contained plotlines.

The 2018 animated take on the story, meanwhile, wasn’t a straight adaptation of the original comic, but did put its Victorian-era setting to good use with another version of the Ripper storyline. And, as mentioned above, it was also received fairly well by fans and critics alike.

What was notable in the animated adaptation was the presence of many of Batman’s friends and villains, as well as its darker tone and graphic content for a DC Animated movie. We certainly enjoyed the film quite a bit when it came out and clearly it ranks highly in WB’s plans for future projects.

Of course, Gotham By Gaslight wouldn’t be the only standalone DC film in-development, with our sources previously telling us about more one-off villain pictures. Although there’s still a commitment to upcoming DCEU movies, which will hopefully overcome the recent box office disappointment of Birds of Prey, it does appear that the company want to recapture the appeal of Joker as well. Given all the uncertainty at DC right now, things can always change, but it seems execs certainly feel that Batman: Gotham by Gaslight would be a great idea for a different take on the Dark Knight.

Star Wars: The Rise Of Skywalker Novel Reveals Ben Solo’s Last Words To Rey

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker ended in a mirror of Darth Vader’s death in Return of the Jedi, with Kylo Ren redeeming himself and then sacrificing his own life to save Rey. Just to add to the tragedy, Rey and Ben Solo shared a romantic kiss before Kylo passed away. Despite their connection and his redemption, however, Ben was not depicted in the film’s final moments as a Force ghost alongside his mother Leia and uncle Luke.

The novelization of the movie, written by Rae Carson and due out next month, finally gives some additional closure to the last biological Skywalker’s demise, though. Following his sacrifice, the book reveals that Ben reaches out to Rey one last time through the Force. Here’s the passage in question:

“A voice came to her through the Force, clear and strong. I will always be with you, Ben said,” the novelization reads in the scene. “She smiled. Let the truth of it wash over her. ‘No one’s ever really gone,’ she whispered.”

As well as being a touching final parting between the would-be couple, Ben’s last words also seem to confirm that, yes, he has become one with the Force. As he wasn’t watching over Rey on Tatooine with Luke and Leia, some fans theorized that his reformation had come too late or else the Force-healing process meant he was unable to cross over properly.

Thankfully, the novelization confirms that’s not the case and, again much like his grandpappy Anakin, Ben’s purified soul has become one with the Force, after all. This leaves it open for future Star Wars media to potentially bring Ben back as a Force ghost

The novelization also confirms that Emperor Palpatine’s form in TROS is a clone body inhabited by the Sith Lord’s spirit, which gels with the previous official explanation of his return – from The Visual Dictionary – as resurrection via a mix of science and arcane rituals.

Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker – Expanded Edition is due to release on March 17th.
