The parent company of the $10-per-month CBS All Access streaming platform is reportedly about to launch... another $10-per-month streaming platform. For some reason, the newly merged ViacomCBS is planning a separate service that will “build on” CBS All Access by adding content from Paramount Pictures, Nickelodeon, BET, MTV, Comedy Central, and streaming service PlutoTV — as well as Showtime for those willing to pay extra, CNBC reports.

The question remains: why launch a new channel when the company has an existing service that’s just starting to gain some traction?

Tesla remotely disables Autopilot on used Model S after it was sold

Tesla has remotely disabled driver assistance features on a used Model S after it was sold to a customer, Jalopnik reports. The company now claims that the owner of the car, who purchased it from a third-party dealer — a dealer who bought it at an auction held by Tesla itself — “did not pay” for the features and therefore is not eligible to use them.

The features were enabled when the dealer bought the car, and they were advertised as part of the package when the car was sold to its owner. It’s a peculiar situation that raises hard questions about the nature of over-the-air software updates as they relate to vehicles.

X-Men’s Rogue Rumored To Appear In Captain Marvel 2

There’s been a lot of speculation about how Marvel will introduce the X-Men into the MCU. The general feeling is that they won’t wait until the next X-Men movie to get to grips with mutantkind and may sprinkle a few familiar characters across various properties first. For example, according to this new rumor, Rogue will be making her debut in Captain Marvel 2.

The latest word from scoopster Mikey Sutton (via Superhero Buzz) is that Marvel is looking to feature the famed X-Men member as a key player in the second solo film for Brie Larson’s heroine. It’s said that Rogue will be depicted in the movie as a villain, allied with a mutant terrorist group. Fans will no doubt expect this group to be the Brotherhood of (Evil) Mutants, but apparently this isn’t quite accurate as the Brotherhood will be reimagined for the MCU. This is because Kevin Feige is apparently keen to give Magneto a rest for a while, after he’s been heavily used by Fox.

Back to Rogue, though, and an origin story like this in the MCU would make a lot of sense, as it would actually tee up neatly with her beginnings in the comics. Raised by Mystique, Rogue was initially an enemy of the X-Men before she encountered Carol Danvers. Due to her powers, she permanently absorbed not only Carol’s own Kree abilities, but also her psyche. This helped Rogue reform herself and become a hero.

This is the sort of thing Fox couldn’t do, but Marvel now can thanks to having virtually every Marvel comics character under the same roof at last. So, dropping Rogue into the MCU in Captain Marvel 2 would be a pretty cool way to go and we’re actually kind of hoping it happens.

John Krasinski Says He’d Love To Lead Marvel’s Fantastic Four Reboot

Marvel is set to reboot the Fantastic Four in a few years’ time, now that they’ve got the rights back from Fox. Given that the three previous movies featuring the team didn’t work as well as they should’ve, there’s a lot of pressure on the studio to nail it this time. One fan demand that’s at the top of the list? Get John Krasinski and Emily Blunt to play Mr. Fantastic and Invisible Woman. After all, the latter has made clear he’d be up for the role.

And, just in case you thought he’d changed his mind, Krasinski has voiced his interest in portraying Reed Richards yet again in a new interview. While speaking with Total Film, the man behind A Quiet Place reiterated that he didn’t want to disappoint all the fans that want to see him in the part and would jump at the chance to embody the character.

“You’re like, “Do you have any interest in not shattering people’s dreams”? [Laughs] I would love to be in the Marvel universe. I love those movies because they’re fun, but I also think they’re really well done. And certainly a lot of my friends are in those movies. I have no idea what [Marvel] are thinking. But if they are considering me for Mr. Fantastic, continue to considered me because I would love it.”

A recent supposed leak pointed to Krasinski and Blunt being Marvel’s top choices for the couple. A separate report also claims that Blunt was recently in talks with the studio over a mystery role. What’s more, both actors have long histories with Marvel – Krasinski was in the running to play Captain America while Blunt was up for both Black Widow and Agent Carter. Given all this, plus Krasinski’s own interest, the odds are looking pretty high that we could see the duo lead a Fantastic Four reboot.

This aforementioned leak claimed that the Foursome would be reimagined as explorers, too, journeying to the many strange lands, worlds and dimensions of the Marvel multiverse. They could even debut as soon as Ant-Man 3, coming in 2022, with their own movie following shortly after. Whatever happens, though, Kevin Feige’s promised that Marvel’s Fantastic Four film will be better than Fox’s, so it should be worth the wait.

Tobey Maguire Enters The MCU On Doctor Strange In The Multiverse Of Madness Fan Poster

OK. We’re going to speed-run this. 300 words in 20 minutes. Maybe 25. I’m a lazy man and a fourth-rate journalist with very little on who still manages to let the handful of important things he has to do in his day pile on to each other in a kind of mad uncomfortable rush that leaves me working well past regimented working hours more often than one would reasonably advise, if advice was being solicited. No prevaricating then.

If you’ve been reading the site today, you may have gleaned the news that Sam Raimi is in talks to direct Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness – a position still to be filled after Scott Derrickson’s departure from the project. Raimi is best known among superhero fans for helming the original Spider-Man film trilogy, of course, and what better way then to symbolize his potential return to the genre than this slick piece of fan-art from Twitter user @BossLogic?

I don’t always respond to fan artwork, particularly in a genre I don’t have a great deal invested in, but this is a very neat way to illustrate the Raimi-Strange story. It’s a thumbs up from this critic, that’s for sure.

Last August, Apple announced it would let more indie repair shops buy genuine iPhone parts and tools so they could do common iPhone repairs. It seemed like an exception to Apple’s tight restrictions around who it deems worthy of repairing your phone. But it sounds like Apple drew up a contract so draconian that some shops are refusing to sign it, making us wonder whether Apple meant to assist the repair industry at all.

Huawei sues Verizon for alleged patent violations

Huawei has announced that it’s suing Verizon for alleged patent violations, marking the latest twist in the Chinese tech giant’s adversarial relationship with the US. The lawsuit, filed in the Eastern and Western district courts in Texas, claims that Verizon is using 12 patents owned by Huawei without authorization.

The patents relate to network technology, with titles like “Sending Method, Receiving and Processing Method and Apparatus for Adapting Payload Bandwidth for Data Transmission.” None of them involve 5G, but a person familiar with the matter who requested anonymity describes them as crucial to network functionality. Nintendo says the coronavirus is delaying Switch production

Nintendo has informed consumers in its home market of Japan that production and shipments of the Switch console and accessories will experience delays due to the effect of the new coronavirus. The Animal Crossing-themed variant of the Switch, which was only announced last week, has had its preorder availability pushed back from Saturday to an unspecified date. The company apologizes for the trouble and says it’ll keep on monitoring the situation.
