Next month, on the first day of its I/O developer conference, Google is expected to show off its new, cheaper Pixel 3a and 3a XL. And on an earnings call with reporters today, Ruth Porat, the chief financial officer of Google parent company Alphabet, said that industry-wide pressure on high-end phones led to fewer Pixel sales last quarter compared to this time a year ago. Porat specifically cited “some of the recent pressures in the premium smartphone market.”

Podcast startup RedCircle is officially launching today with a focus on helping small shows grow. Its first step is releasing a feature that assists podcasters in setting up cross-promotions with other podcasters, agreements in which two shows promote each other. It promises there’s more to come.

RedCircle raised $1.5 million in its seed round and offers free hosting, analytics access, distribution help, and other features designed for smaller creators. The company’s cross-promotion feature allows RedCircle to automatically insert promotions into shows once both podcasters have agreed.

The sudden news, delivered to staff today by CEO Boris Sofman, means the company’s staff of nearly 200 people will lose their jobs by Wednesday, with only one week of severance. Daimler will end US and Canada sales of its electric, pint-sized Smart Fortwo cars after the 2019 model year, the company confirmed today. “After much careful consideration, Smart will discontinue its battery-electric smart EQ Fortwo model in the U.S. and Canadian markets at the conclusion of MY2019,” Daimler said in a statement to The Verge. “A number of factors, including a declining micro-car market in the US and Canada, combined with high homologation costs for a low volume model are central to this decision.” TechCrunch first reported the decision earlier today.

Last April, T-Mobile and Sprint announced their plans to merge, yet one year later neither the US Federal Communications Commission nor the Justice Department have approved the deal — and the telecommunications companies just opted to extend the deadline an extra month.

On Monday, T-Mobile and Sprint announced a deadline extension for the $26.5 billion merger in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The two companies will now have until July 29th to convince officials at both the FCC and DOJ to approve the transaction that would combine the third and fourth largest telecommunications companies in the country into one.

Uber and Lyft have stopped accepting new drivers on their respective platforms in New York City, Politico reports. The move comes after the city passed new rules that are designed to curb the explosive growth of ride-hail companies.

Daimler will end US and Canada sales of its electric, pint-sized Smart Fortwo cars after the 2019 model year, the company confirmed today. “After much careful consideration, Smart will discontinue its battery-electric smart EQ Fortwo model in the U.S. and Canadian markets at the conclusion of MY2019,” Daimler said in a statement to The Verge. “A number of factors, including a declining micro-car market in the US and Canada, combined with high homologation costs for a low volume model are central to this decision.” TechCrunch first reported the decision earlier today.

Last April, T-Mobile and Sprint announced their plans to merge, yet one year later neither the US Federal Communications Commission nor the Justice Department have approved the deal — and the telecommunications companies just opted to extend the deadline an extra month.

On Monday, T-Mobile and Sprint announced a deadline extension for the $26.5 billion merger in a filing with the Securities and Exchange Commission. The two companies will now have until July 29th to convince officials at both the FCC and DOJ to approve the transaction that would combine the third and fourth largest telecommunications companies in the country into one.

Uber and Lyft have stopped accepting new drivers on their respective platforms in New York City, Politico reports. The move comes after the city passed new rules that are designed to curb the explosive growth of ride-hail companies.

International Avengers: Endgame Screenings Include A Post-Credits Prank

It’s no secret by now (and therefore definitely not a spoiler) that Avengers: Endgame doesn’t feature a mid-credits or post-credits scene. It’s one of the few movies in the entire MCU that breaks that tradition. However, in its place, the Russo Brothers added an Easter egg that pays homage to the film that started it all, 2008’s Iron Man, as the sound of a hammer clanking on metal plays alongside the Marvel logo.

For international audiences, though, this space has opened up an opportunity for a hilarious prank in the form of an ad pretending to be an end-credits scene. As captured by a fan and shared on YouTube, audiences in Singapore got what they thought was going to be a surprise and exclusive post-credits scene, only to find out that it was an advertisement for a Huawei cell phone.

The punchline is that it looks like it could be a Marvel scene for a second, as a man appears to be drawing the moon towards him, when in reality, it’s just the zoom of a camera. You can check it out below.

With 97% of moviegoers reportedly sticking around until the end of every Marvel flick to catch a post-credits scene, it’s hard to blame Huawei for placing the ad there. However, many theaters are warning fans before the film that there’s no scene afterwards. With a 181-minute runtime – the longest of any of the MCU movies – the theaters want to get people out as quickly as possible so they can clean and seat the next, more than likely sold out show.

That quickness is also making huge box office numbers for Avengers: Endgame, as it’s already crossed $1.2 billion globally. With a cliffhanger in Infinity War that saw the decimation of hometown heroes like Spider-Man, Black Panther, and Doctor Strange, it’s hardly a surprise that the most epic MCU movie to date will also be its most profitable.

The Guardians Of The Galaxy Cameo That Most People Missed In Avengers: Endgame

Of all the comic book characters featured in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, Howard the Duck is one that most never expected to see up on the big screen. The suit-wearing, wisecracking bird featured in his own film in the 1980s, but seeing as it’s often considered one of the worst movies ever made – we kid you not – fans were surprised to see him show up in the post-credits scene of Guardians of the Galaxy. His subsequent second cameo in GotG Vol. 2 then set him up to become a recurring character in the franchise.

In fact, he was actually supposed to appear in Avengers: Infinity War last year, though ultimately, he was cut. Speaking to FANDOM around the time of its release though, co-director Anthony Russo said the following:

“Howard the Duck was in one draft of the script. Howard the Duck actually had a really good scene… we were going to cameo with [The Hangover and Community star] Ken Jeong, with Howard the Duck. That was a much-beloved scene by us but it just didn’t end up fitting at all.”

Fair enough, but thankfully, it looks like Howard made the cut this time around, as he does indeed cameo in Avengers: Endgame and you can check out a screenshot of his appearance down below.

Yes, your eyes do not deceive you, that’s Howard the Duck there, standing alongside the other heroes as he arrives to lend a hand in the epic final fight for the universe alongside the Avengers and their allies. It’s a quick, blink-and-you’ll-miss-it cameo, but for fans of the character, it should be enough to put a smile on their face.

Unfortunately, we don’t get to see anything more of him, but with Marvel planning to give Howard his very own TV show in the near future, we can all rest easy knowing that we’ll get to catch back up with the character in the near future. And until then, we’re just happy that he made the cut for Avengers: Endgame.
