Zac Efron And Amanda Seyfried To Headline Scooby-Doo Reboot

Scooby-Dooby-Doo, where are you? Warner Bros. has got some work for you now.

The talking Great Dane last graced cinema screens back in 2004’s live-action Scooby-Doo: Monsters Unleashed but the mystery-solving mutt and the rest of those meddling kids will be returning to the big screen soon for a new animated movie, and it’ll come with some big names, too.

Deadline is reporting that Zac Efron and Amanda Seyfried have signed up to provide the voices of Fred Jones and Daphne Blake. Likewise attached to the currently unnamed production are Will Forte as Norville “Shaggy” Rogers and Gina Rodriguez as Velma Dinkley. Veteran voice actor Frank Welker, meanwhile, who’s been with the franchise since its inception in 1969, will once again portray Scoob.

What’s more, this movie won’t just be revival of the Scooby gang but will see Mystery Inc. team up with other classic Hanna-Barbera cartoon characters to save the world from the evil Dick Dastardly (the villain from Wacky Races). So far, we know that Captain Caveman will feature, as he’ll be voiced by Tracey Morgan. Tony Cervone, meanwhile, is directing with Chris Columbus producing, alongside Pam Coats and Allison Abbate.

This will be the third cinematic Scooby-Doo release, following Monsters Unleashed and its 2002 predecessor. Starring Freddie Prinze Jr. and Sarah Michelle Gellar, the movies are notable today for being penned by Guardians of the Galaxy‘s James Gunn. The film series did continue after these, but went straight-to-DVD. The most recent effort, Daphne & Velma, a prequel about the girls’ teenage friendship, was released last May.

Anyways, it’ll no doubt be fun for fans to see so many beloved cartoon characters teaming up in the new Scooby-Doo, but as we know from his newfound meme status, the all-powerful Shaggy could probably take on Dick Dastardly by himself. If we can’t get Shaggy in Mortal Kombat 11, at least we’ve got this, right?

Joker Director Shares New Photo Of Joaquin Phoenix As Arthur Fleck

The standalone Joker movie is now officially in post-production, as director Todd Phillips shares a fresh pic of Joaquin Phoenix in the title role, along with a caption that simply reads, “Editing #Joker.”

Of course, this is far from the first image we’ve seen of the Her star as Arthur Fleck. In a welcome change of pace from the spoilerphobic secrecy of your average comic book movie, the production of Phillips’ upcoming film yielded a whole load of set photos and videos, many of which saw Phoenix walking the streets of New York in full Joker makeup.

What’s different about Phillips’ new Instagram post, however, is that it allows us to see the future Clown Prince of Crime in the comfort of his own home, where he seems to be staring intently at something on his TV screen.

For all we know, he could be watching footage of himself. After all, the set material has made it clear that the Joker will become a public figure of sorts, who manages to attract plenty of attention and crowds of followers. One sequence set in the subway, for instance, sees Arthur surrounded by people in clown masks holding up signs with political slogans like “Clown4Mayor” and “Kill the Rich.” Then again, maybe Fleck’s just watching the latest episode of Murray Franklin’s talk show, seeing how the VHS tape in the photo’s bottom-right suggests he might be a fan of Robert De Niro’s character.

In any case, we can expect to get a lot more context to this image once Joker hits theaters on October 4th, 2019. In the meantime, now that Phillips is in the editing stage, perhaps we can hope that a new trailer isn’t far from dropping.

Avengers: Endgame Action Figures Reveal A Major Nebula Spoiler

With Avengers: Endgame just five weeks away from release, a whole load of merchandise for the upcoming Avengers: Infinity War sequel is currently waiting in the wings, including this new set of action figures shared by Instagram user Mcucollector24.

As you can see, the package shows Hawkeye and Black Widow dressed in the same Avengers uniforms that featured in last week’s trailer, along with swappable heads for Iron Man, Ant-Man and Nebula. But while the so-called “Quantum Realm suits” are a familiar sight by now, the design for Karen Gillan’s character offers one little detail that has yet to appear in the trailers.

Look closely at the left side of Nebula’s face, and you’ll notice that much of it has taken on an orange or brown hue. Though it’s unclear what this change could mean, our best guess might be that the cybernetically enhanced heroine has undergone an upgrade of some sort.

Since the film’s promotional footage isn’t offering any clues, we may have to wait until next month’s release to get some context on Nebula’s new design. In the meantime, details are still vague on the character’s role in the Phase 3 finale, though Gillan at least mentioned in an interview last year that Thanos’ adopted daughter will “confront some serious daddy issues” in her next movie.

More recently, the actress told Empire that she thinks Nebula will be “a character we’re all rooting for.” This may not sound like much, but it does seem to challenge the old fan theory that she’ll replace Thanos as the main villain of the film. Regardless, we’ll see what’s in store for the Guardians of the Galaxy regular when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.

Armie Hammer Reiterates That He’d Jump At The Batman Role

With Ben Affleck confirming he won’t star in Matt Reeves’ The Batman, Bat-fans are eagerly awaiting the reveal of who Warner Bros. will choose to be the next Dark Knight. One of the most talked-about favorites for the role is Armie Hammer, who’s valiantly put up with being asked if he’s going to takeover the Batcave again and again and again for a while now.

The latest example of the actor being faced with the question comes from USA Today. When asked if he would want to play Batman if given the chance, Hammer reiterated that he definitely would, but the fact is that he hasn’t been linked to the part in any official capacity yet.

“Yeah, that’s the problem: I’ve never been approached, but if I was, I would jump at the opportunity. You can only say “no” or “yes” to projects you’re offered.”

It shouldn’t really come as a surprise that Hammer would love to play Batman. He was already hired for the job a decade ago, after all. Seeing as George Miller’s fabled Justice League Mortal movie never materialized, though, audiences never got to see his take on Bruce Wayne. It would be fitting, then, if he finally got the chance to give us his Batman all these years later.

But first, like the actor says, he’d actually need to be contacted by the studio. Reeves recently revealed that he’s looking to start shooting this December, so it’s possible that the lead role is still up in the air enough for Hammer to be in with a chance, even if he hasn’t auditioned yet. That said, the 32-year old actor may be just a smidgen too old to fit Reeves’ aims to depict a Caped Crusader still in his twenties.

A report back in January did say that WB would announce their new Batman in May or June though, so the mystery may be resolved in just a few months. Until then, let us know your own personal pick in the comments section below.

The Team Assembles In New Avengers: Endgame TV Spot

With five weeks to go until the release of Avengers: Endgame, Marvel Studios has dropped a whole load of TV spots in the last couple of days that tease the coming fight.

Much like the rest of these previews, this latest video doesn’t offer much in the way of new footage, but it at least distinguishes itself from the other TV spots by having comparatively less focus on Captain America. Sure, Steve Rogers is still in there, and gets to be the first of several heroes to deliver the “Whatever it takes” tagline. But this time, the lion’s share of dialogue goes to Scarlett Johansson’s Black Widow, who once more reminds us that even if there’s only a small chance that the Snap can be reversed, they owe it to “everyone who’s not in this room” to try.

Like the trailer that dropped last week, the latest TV spot concludes with a quick exchange between Thor and Captain Marvel. This near-wordless clip was often singled out as a highlight from the recent preview, which had the internet shipping Carol Danvers and the God of Thunder. Sadly, there may not be time for something to happen between the pair, especially when Thor looks like he might be on the verge of leaving the saga.

In fact, out of the original six Avengers, Black Widow is the only one with a definite future in the franchise. And seeing how Natasha Romanoff’s solo movie is heavily rumored to be a prequel, even she isn’t guaranteed to survive this next film. “Whatever it takes” indeed. Regardless, we’ll see who’s still around for the MCU’s next phase when Avengers: Endgame hits theaters on April 26th.
