Trash and treasure are often indiscernible from each other when it comes to the movie business, for the sole reason that taste and personal preference are the deciding factors above all else, and they vary on an individual basis. It’s clear that nobody pays much heed to what the critics or even fellow fans have to say about a particular title, because if you love something, then you really love it.

Just because a picture is widely regarded as awful by almost everyone, that doesn’t mean it won’t have an army of supporters armed to the teeth and ready to die on the hill that it’s actually a misunderstood masterpiece. Day Shift is one of those Netflix films that made itself clear on what it was going for; straight fantastical fun. Indeed, with its surprisingly rich yet tragically unexplored lore, such as the history of the union or the nuances between the five different types of vampires referenced in the film, Day Shift seemed to fully embrace a sort of Zach Snyder-esque ethos, and Jamie Foxx, who’s shown an unabashed love for the film to the point of making plans for a franchise, never wastes an opportunity to lay down an enthusiastic anecdote about Day Shift.

DC fans praise ‘Black Adam’ costumes, with one exception

For general audiences, the big draw with Black Adam is having Dwayne Johnson back on the big screen doing his thing, but for DC diehards, the movie’s appeal lies in seeing so many underserved comic book characters finally get their dues in the DCEU. Streaming crowds tool up for a colossal comic book flop that somehow still succeeded

Usually, it’s pretty easy to determine what movies can justifiably be deemed indisputable failures, but the normal logic most definitely doesn’t apply to James Gunn’s The Suicide Squad.

On paper, the hybrid of sequel and reboot was an unmitigated disaster, failing to recoup its mammoth $185 million budget in theaters. To put that into perspective, The Suicide Squad topped out at $168 million globally after its theatrical run had drawn to a close, whereas David Ayer’s opener had netted $133 million through its first three days in the United States alone back in 2016.

‘Event Horizon’ director suggests a Snyder Cut scenario to restore the infamous lost footage

Cult classic sci-fi horror Event Horizon has been back in the headlines recently after celebrating its 25th anniversary, and Paul W.S. Anderson’s box office bomb is arguably more popular after a quarter of a century than it’s ever been.

The filmmaker’s original cut left the top brass at studio Paramount aghast at the gnarly body horror they’d just witnessed, with the theatrical release markedly different from what Anderson had in mind for the existential terror. After being ignored by paying patrons and falling well short of recouping the $60 million budget, Event Horizon went on to become something of a phenomenon on home video.

Oscar-nominated Martin Scorsese regular confirms he’s the DP on ‘Barbie’

Rodrigo Prieto, the Mexican Director of Photography behind some of the most acclaimed films of the last few decades, has confirmed his involvement in Greta Gerwig’s Barbie, directing special words of praise towards producer and star of the film Margot Robbie.

According to Mexican news outlet Milenio, at the launch of Netflix’s new Que México Se Vea campaign, which will bring Mexican cinema to the forefront of the streaming giant, Prieto, the Oscar-nominated Director of Photography known for his work in Ang Lee’s Brokeback Mountain as well as his extended collaboration with Martin Scorsese, shared some insight on his contribution to Barbie.
