Disney CEO Bob Chapek has raised eyebrows with a decidedly odd speech in which he compared himself to Iron Man and got the mottos to Disneyland and Disney World mixed up. He made the remarks at his alma mater the University of Indiana, delivering a commencement in which he said (via Deadline):
“[The University of Indiana] was my ticket to a new life…I was kind of desperate. Desperate to demonstrate my worthiness and desperate not to waste a dime of my parents’ money on a school that was frankly testing my limits at the time. But that desperation turned to determination and my dream of defying expectations and the odds took over. And just like Iron Man draws his energy from that Arc Reactor, I get a thump from my drive to prove myself every single day. It’s a lifetime power supply that pushes me through doubts, difficulties, and around those who underestimate kids from the region.”
He then went on to dub Walt Disney World “the Happiest Place on Earth”, when any self-respecting Disney exec should know that the Florida resort’s motto is “the Most Magical Place on Earth”.
Taken alone, these aren’t exactly career-ending goofs, though criticism of Chapek has been building over the past year. Perhaps the most high-profile controversy came when Scarlet Johansson launched legal action over Black Widow going direct to Disney Plus. The corporation was forced to settle and faced a torrent of bad press over the issue.
That was followed by Chapek’s inept response to Florida’s homophobic ‘Don’t Say Gay’ bill. Though Chapek eventually came out against it, it took a while and the delay saw Disney employees protesting to express their disappointment with the company. Chapek was also shown up by former Disney CEO Bob Iger, who tweeted that the bill will put young LGBTQ+ people “in jeopardy”.
Chapek has also been accused of presiding over the “fiasco” of Disney moving their headquarters from California to Florida, which saw many experienced hands choose to retire or resign rather than relocate, with many of their LGBTQ+ California employees understandably upset about being required to move to a state with anti-gay laws.
Here’s hoping the Disney ship rights itself soon, as one of the biggest entertainment corporations on the planet absolutely needs a steady hand on the tiller.

Marvel Studios had a slight wobble in 2021 with Black Widow and Eternals, but with the release of Shang-Chi, Spider-Man: No Way Home, and now Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness it seems they’re firmly back on track. The Sam Raimi-helmed sequel has been a box office smash on its opening weekend and has garnered majorly positive reviews.
One factor often singled out for praise is Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez. She’s at the core of the plot and present in most key scenes. The then 15-year-old Gomez managed to stand toe-to-toe with acting heavyweights like Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen. Marvel Studios clearly has big plans for her, though we may have to wait a while to find out what they are.
However, along with praise comes the inevitable haters. The inclusion of America Chavez in the film led to the film getting banned in Saudi Arabia because of the character’s LGBTQ+ roots in the comic books. In a chat with USA Today, Gomez shared that while she is sometimes affected by the negative comments her character has received, she prefers to stay strong and “move forward.”
“I’m all about positivity and creativity (but) sometimes I can’t ignore that completely. I’m grateful to have very supportive fans that are so much louder and more enthusiastic than haters. And it’s really important, since I do have a really big young following to show them that things happen and it’s better to stay strong and continue and move forward.”

In casting young actors, Kevin Feige has his eye on the future and the next generation of heroes. We’ve recently been introduced to Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop and Florence Pugh’s Yelena Belova, with Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel about to make their MCU debut soon.
Feige recently revealed that he and key Marvel creatives had planned out the next decade of MCU stories, so here’s hoping these characters play a big role going forward as the existing MCU heroes begin to retire.

This isn’t a Christine Palmer appreciation post, so spoilers for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness will naturally follow.
Even though every version of the title hero we encountered was pining for the one that got away, Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness still managed to fall into the same trap as its predecessor by not giving audiences much of a reason to invest in the relationship between Benedict Cumberbatch’s former surgeon and Rachel McAdams’ Christine Palmer.
In Scott Derrickson’s opener, she was given the thankless and standard love interest role, with the animated “What If… Doctor Strange Lost His Heart Instead of His Hands?” doing the best job we’ve seen from the Marvel Cinematic Universe so far in deepening the dynamic between the pair.
However, the first credits scene of Sam Raimi’s sequel hinted that Christine might be out of the picture for good, with Charlize Theron’s Clea making her Marvel Cinematic Universe debut. Hiring an A-list superstar for such a role would indicate a loose plan is already in place, with writer Michael Waldron referencing their comic book history during his appearance on Deadline’s Hero Nation podcast.
“We always knew we wanted to introduce Clea, who in the comics is you could say the great love of Doctor Strange, but really in a lot of ways his formidable equal as a sorcerer herself. Her backstory is fascinating, she’s the niece of Dormammu, the giant floating head from the first movie.
They have a lot of great adventures in the comics, and we knew we wanted to introduce her, but it felt like we had to close the book to some extent on his love story with Christine Palmer, Rachel McAdams’ character.”
That could be the first hint as to where the inevitable Doctor Strange 3 is heading, with Theron set to become Cumberbatch’s sparring partner when he next takes center stage in his own standalone movie.

Nicolas Cage may have claimed that he’s never given anything less than 100% commitment to any role he’s ever played, even when he was scraping the bottom of the VOD barrel for the better part of a decade, but it’s really difficult to imagine that 2014’s abysmal Tokarev had the Academy Award winner at full tilt.
Paco Cabezas’ generic action thriller went under the name of Rage in various territories, but even the altered nomenclature couldn’t prevent audiences from giving it a hard pass. Incredibly, despite holding a Rotten Tomatoes score of just 12%, it only ranks as the 13th worst-reviewed entry in Cage’s filmography on the aggregation site, but it’s definitely got a good claim to being the most boring.
The memeable leading man stars as a reformed criminal who turned his life around to make a decent fist of the construction business, where he’s now a happily married doting father. However, once his daughter is kidnapped and found murdered via a bullet from the titular Russian-made pistol, Cage’s Paul Maguire rolls up his sleeves and gets down to revenge.
As per FlixPatrol, Tokarev has cast aside the overwhelmingly negative reception from critics and audiences to pulverize the Paramount Plus most-watched list, where it currently ranks as the eighth-top title on the platform’s global chart.
Clearly, the vague hint of some classic Cage Rage has been enough to encourage subscribers that hitting play is a risk worth taking, even if it’s one they may end up regretting 94 minutes later when the credits roll.

Kevin Feige revealed not so long ago that the Marvel Cinematic Universe is set to pivot away from tying its stars down to multi-picture contracts in favor of signing them up on a project-by-project basis, which makes sense for a number of reasons.
Not only does it prevent the franchise from shoehorning a familiar face into a feature film or Disney Plus exclusive to use up an option, but it should also in theory create more excitement and enthusiasm among the talent. Instead of the onscreen stars showing up because they have to, they’ll need to be given a script that appeals to them, and a genuine reason for returning to the fray.
Speaking to Collider, Elizabeth Olsen confirmed that she inked a one-and-done deal for Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, similar to what she did for WandaVision, so she isn’t currently attached to Marvel Studios.
“I sign extensions every time they want me to do a movie. I just signed a very short one at the beginning, so everything’s constantly just, it’s always adjusting for me. No. I don’t think of this either as the end. I don’t know in what capacity I’ll be back. I don’t know how to do it without, I don’t want spoilers.”
Olsen may not be tied to the MCU in an official capacity, but it would be foolish to imagine that Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness marked the Scarlet Witch’s final hurrah, especially when she’s already emerged as one of the most integral players in the post-Infinity Saga landscape.

Wanda Maximoff has been part of the MCU for some time now, first teased during the credits of Captain America: The Winter Soldier alongside her twin brother Pietro. The character has been through a lot, and actress Elizabeth Olsen has proved herself a fantastic and adaptable actor, especially seen as as she had no idea where this role would take her when she first signed up.
Olsen’s proper debut for Marvel came in Avengers: Age of Ultron, in which Wanda appeared alongside Aaron Taylor-Johnson’s Pietro, who didn’t make it beyond his first film. The actress does a phenomenal job of portraying her grief at the loss, something that would sadly become a bit of a trademark for her character.
The 33 year-old has since starred in multiple MCU films, which have only poured on more misery in the form of her love Vision’s death, which directly led to the events of WandaVision. Speaking to ComicBook, Olsen the evolution of the Scarlet Witch.
“I mean, it’s been a ride that I didn’t expect, I got comfortable just taking up a lane and showing just a couple colors of her and just helping the story and this film as a whole. And then WandaVision, I got to be all the colors of all the rainbows. That was an amazing opportunity, but also an amazing opportunity to remember playfulness and being able to fail and there’s such a freedom that we had while filming that has informed me now in how I approach her. And so to be with Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, I was at first, when I heard, I was like, ‘Really, we do WandaVision and then we do that?'”
Going from WandaVision into Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness was a big change, something that was also addressed by Olsen.
“That said, I think it was an incredible opportunity to have an audience for seven hours on her side and then throw her into a journey where you could potentially question her, where she’s coming from. And I really had a great time trying to create an evolution of her and her power and her acceptance and confidence of who she was meant to be, and that informing her decision making. And then I always, with Sam [Raimi], we were always trying to go back to find her humanity, even through it. And so it was a fun line to split between.”
The miniseries was a massive leap for the actress who has predominantly played a smaller role within the MCU at large, but was now front and center with the chance to truly shine. It was brilliantly done, earning Olsen Primetime Emmy and Golden Globe nominations. In Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness, we see a more fully-realized Scarlet Witch, one that’s more aware of her powers while still coming to terms with her past.

Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness requires quite a lot of knowledge of past MCU shows and movies. Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame are a must, as is the first Doctor Strange. But the biggest influence on the film’s story is the events of Disney Plus show WandaVision, with Elizabeth Olsen’s Scarlet Witch driving the core conflict.
But though the movie is a finale (of sorts), it’s also a new beginning. Xochitl Gomez’s America Chavez is the driving force of the story, with her character apparently set for a bright future in the MCU. Marvel Studios will be watching the reactions to her very carefully when deciding future arcs, but judging by social media today, we’ll be seeing America Chavez again soon:

It remains to be seen what Marvel’s plans for America Chavez are, though it’s notable that they’re establishing a lot of young female superheroes. So far, we’ve also met Florence Pugh’s Yelena, Hailee Steinfeld’s Kate Bishop, and Letitia Wright’s Shuri, with Dominique Thorne’s Riri Williams and Iman Vellani’s Ms. Marvel also on the way.
Is Kevin Feige heading towards some kind of all-female Young Avengers team, with their leader ‘Captain’ America Chavez? Who knows, but the fan reaction to Xochitl Gomez’s character means America will be back in action very soon.

Finnish filmmaking duo Taneli Mustonen and Aleksi Hyvärinen have been making waves in their home country for the last decade, but it was 2016’s acclaimed slasher Bodom that first brought the pair to international mainstream attention.
Retaining creative control of their careers through Don Films, the duo co-wrote the screenplay for their latest feature The Twin, with Mustonen directing and Hyvärinen producing. It was only a matter of time before they made their English-language debut, and that day has officially arrived now that The Twin is available in select theaters, on-demand, and digital, while it’s streaming exclusively on Shudder in territories where the platform is available.
The atmospheric horror stars Teresa Palmer and Steven Cree as grieving parents dealing with the aftermath of a car crash that killed one of their twin boys. Moving to the other side of the planet to start afresh, Palmer’s Rachel quickly begins to unravel when she discovers that a sinister presence is trying to exert control over Tristan Ruggeri’s young Eliot, who claims he’s being contacted by deceased sibling Nathan from beyond the grave.
Trapped in an unfamiliar location with a situation that’s in danger of spiraling out of control to deadly effect, Rachel turns to Barbara Marten’s local resident Helen for advice, only to discover her new home has a dark and sinister past with previous experience in handling supernatural occurrences.
Ahead of The Twin‘s debut, We Got This Covered had the chance to speak to Mustonen and Hyvärinen about the film, the pressures that come with making their first movie in a different language, their influences and inspirations, along with their interest in potentially “going Hollywood”, which you can check out below.

You’ve found huge success in Finland, was The Twin always envisioned as being your English-language debut from conception? Or was it more a case of being the right project at the right time to take the plunge?
Taneli Mustonen: Oh, that’s an amazing question. A big one. I guess so just, you know, after Bodom, we felt with Aleksi that, “Okay, we’re basically pretty much ready to take take the next level”, if you don’t mind me saying. It’s… we got awesome feedback from the previous horror film, and it sort of sparked something, you know, within us. We wanted to do something “next level”, basically. Like, Bodom was a film that was about us trying to come up with new stuff for slasher genre.
And in here, we’re sort of in between. We’ve sort of, as we grew up with the awesome, awesome films, from the 70s, and 80s like The Omen, and Rosemary’s Baby, and Changeling, and all that, then we felt that there would be something interesting that we would dive into next. And so, everything happened quite organically, if that’s the proper term. So we sort of, we had the idea and for The Twin, and we just moved onward, and here we are!
Smaller films are still struggling in cinemas because of the pandemic, but was it important for you to have The Twin available somewhere like Shudder, a platform with over a million subscribers that’s geared directly towards horror fans, which guarantees it’ll find the target audience?
Aleksi Hyvärinen: Well, we hope that it’s going to find the audience! Actually, Taneli already mentioned our previous horror film Lake Bodom, and Shudder actually bought it. It was a small Finnish-language film, which kind of then became a success in Finland, and then traveled to festivals and was actually distributed in a lot of countries, but Sudder was one of the first ones to buy it back then. And I think Shudder was fairly new at the time, and we were one of their, kind of, first acquisitions.
So for us, it was always kind of a natural thing to wish for them to get excited about this movie as well. Luckily, they were on board already at the script stage on this one, and they’ve been a huge, huge help. So we’re obviously excited to have them as a kind of like prime distributor, and the platform is great. And we’re just so envious of you guys that we don’t have Shudder in the Nordic countries at all. And so we kind of have to fight to see these movies. And so, you know, it’s great. It’s a wonderful community.

There’s a timelessness to the movie in terms of visuals, story, and location. Was that a conscious decision so as not to immediately date the film? Because it could just as easily be set in the 1970s as today, and there’s very little that would need to be changed.
Taneli Mustonen: It definitely was. That was one of the first things that we discussed when it came to visuals, that we wanted to sort of erase anything that remotely suggested a certain time. I think, for us, horror films are sort of like fairy tales to adults. And for us it felt… it’s sort of almost like an homage.
You need to have your certain kind of clues, visual clues, but it gives that that village, and that place, a certain kind of special vibe that it’s almost like time travel, you could say. And so, that’s where we started. And maybe, it’s also because we didn’t want to put a year and date on the whole thing from the get go. So yeah, so it was on purpose. Art by accident, you know, without budgets!
Was it fate, coincidence, or something else that brought Teresa and Steven together as the two leads? They’re obviously familiar with each other from A Discovery of Witches, and it really helps establish the dynamic between Rachel and Anthony.
Aleksi Hyvärinen: It was probably all of those things. I mean, we quite can’t fathom all of it, even now, like, how did we end up getting them? But at the time, when we started sending the script out, we had our agents and managers in the US, who were a huge help in kind of sending it out and trying to make people read it, which is obviously always kind of… there’s a lot of filters, let’s put it this way.
And we were amazed that one day, we heard that it found its way to Teresa’s table. And we kind of felt that that’s probably, you know, the highlight of our career that it’s on her table; she’s probably never going to read it. And then one evening, we get a call from our agent saying, “Teresa wants to talk”. And we were basically, “Okay, she probably is considering reading it, and just wants to know if we’re insane or not, or something like that”. But you know, funnily enough, she had read it twice or three times. And she was super excited about about the story and the character. And she had discussed the story with her husband one night and he was so excited. And we were obviously absolutely flabbergasted about it.
And that’s kind of how things started picking up, and suddenly we were driving towards production and green light really, really fast. And Steven got on board through both our wonderful casting director, Kate Ringsell in the UK who knows Steven well, but also obviously, Teresa. So it’s kind of a perfect storm of two wonderful ladies endorsing Steve, and it was it was a match made in heaven in that sense.
Barbara was in 2 episodes of the show as well, so it’s a Discovery of Witches reunion!
Taneli Mustonen: Exactly! It’s one of those things, literally we were blown away by all of our cast. Basically, the film is really about Rachel, Teresa’s character, but also it’s super important we had Barbara Marten and Steven Cree. And of course, Tristan as Elliot and Nathan. It’s was just like a perfect storm with the actors.
And they were so funny when we started filming. From the very first “action”. It was just like, you just could grab a popcorn and watch the movie, everything went really smoothly and it was such a joyous ride. Even with the COVID restrictions and all of that, that month and a half went really fast.

Was casting the role of Rachel difficult? It’s not an easy performance to pull off without giving the game away so to speak, but Teresa has a strong background in horror and drama, and she knocks it out of the park.
Taneli Mustonen: Yes, that’s how we felt! Like, it was crazy. With Teresa of course, we know her by reputation; Berlin Syndrome, Warm Bodies, Lights Out. But she’s worked with so many awesome directors, like the biggest in the business, like Mel Gibson and Terrence Malick. To put it bluntly, she really got the character, so much better than me and Aleksi! Like, we we were on set, and she would explain to us how it’s going to be laid out. And it was such a wonderful learning curve for us, also as writers, there’s so many moments.
I know every struggling filmmaker knows that you’ve been writing something for so many years, and then when you finally see it happen in front of your eyes, it’s like it’s miraculous. That’s the best reward on any work, and she was just giving everything she got, and so was everybody else. And yeah, it’s… I could go on and on about how awesome Teresa is, but I know there’s a reason why she’s such a big star
The Twin is a slow-burner that doesn’t turn out the way audiences think it will. Was there any concerns or changes made to the script over whether or not viewers might be able to figure out the twists too early?
Taneli Mustonen: Oh, Aleksi, I’ll wait for you!
Aleksi Hyvärinen: We had, as as during any production or writing process, a lot of concerns and a lot of worries, you know, things you’re kind of scared about. But, for us, the kind of… let’s call it a “solution” or “resolution” of the story was always there from the get-go, from the very first two ideas colliding.
And so, that was where we were always heading from the first blank A4 sheet that we started writing it, that was always the goal. So I think our biggest concern was; Well, first of all, after Lake Bodom, which is a small Finnish slasher film with a lot of twists and turns, we made a blood pact with Taneli that we’re never going to write any of the big twist in the end!
Taneli Mustonen: We’re not that good!
Aleksi Hyvärinen: And suddenly, we end up with a script that is full of twists and turns! And I think our concern was more about the story being about more than just twists and turns, about making it character-driven. And as Taneli often puts it well, “You can just make people wait for the final act for 80 minutes, or 70 minutes”.
It has to work to keep people enticed. And I think that was probably our biggest challenge. We knew it was going to be a slow burner. How do you hold on to the suspense? How do you make it work? And that was, until the final day in final mix, in editing, and everything, that was always our biggest concern and challenge.

The movie balances sensitive subject matter (especially in regards to Rachel), with the scares, thrills, and atmosphere fans will expect from horror. Was that a difficult tightrope to walk at all during writing and production?
Taneli Mustonen: Yeah, of course. We wanted to do a character study from the get-go. And it was basically… we started off bigger. It’s actually a funny story, we got invited this festival in Seoul with Lake Bodom. And they asked, “Do we have another idea?”. We were so surprised! We go, “Oh, you get to do another one?”. Like, it’s really hard to get to do another one. So basically, we started from zero and we started discussing with Aleksi, we are parents and dads, we started discussing “what is our biggest fear?”.
And, of course, as a parent, your biggest fear is losing your child. And then we started going through films that we love and ideas, and we noticed that in many horror films, they use grief, or tragic loss, or an accident as sort of like a setup. And we started discussing, like, “Wouldn’t it be cool to make the story about the grief instead?”. And so, we took it from there and really tried to build a proper character study as you would when you when you’re writing drama. So that was our starting point.
And of course, always as a filmmaker you want to have something to say, otherwise it’s just a rather boring film, I guess! So we wanted to do that, for sure. And it was… with me and Aleksi, we’ve been working and writing together for so long it was it was this was really difficult, but also one of those projects that’s sort of like a pet project.
And I know how people feel about pet projects, that they become usually not-so-awesome, but it was really something that we really tried to you know, work hard, and basically act as a homage to those films that we grew up with, like Don’t Look Now, and that sort of definitely had a mark on us as writers or filmmakers. Basically, we wanted to create a film that, afterwards, you want to go and grab a beer and just discuss what you see. That was basically our idea, because we certainly did a lot of talking when we’re writing!

You’ve worked extensively in both comedy and horror, and tackled drama and thrillers, too. Is there one genre you prefer above the rest, or one you haven’t tackled yet that you’d love to get around to?
Taneli Mustonen: Yeah, that’s strange. For me, I’ve always hated boxes. Meaning that, you know, as an audience, as a movie buff, or a person who likes to see movies, in cinemas, you always really want to see different kinds of different genres and different films. And it’s funny, when you turn on this side of becoming a filmmaker, it sort of becomes this thing that have to stick to something. But it’s really hard to say.
There are days when I feel like I do love comedies. And there are times when I really, especially with The Twin, I was super stoked about horror films. And I guess the same goes with Aleksi as well. But we both love the movies, the cinema experience, that ritual where you go into darkness, and you feel together with total strangers. I think it’s still so purifying, and electrifying, and whatnot. And so I guess the answer comes sort of like from there. But Aleksi, how do you feel about it?
Aleksi Hyvärinen: Well, just to continue from there, I guess in a way, both horror and comedy are something that work best in a cinema, you know? I’m generalizing here, but in a way, you go into a dark room with a bunch of strangers and you feel these ultimate emotions; laughter and being scared, scared sh**tless basically!
And that’s kind of the physical reaction to what you’re seeing in the cinema, I guess some of the rhythm as well, in comedies and horror. There’s a lot of similarities, even though you probably wouldn’t expect it to be so open. But I guess for both of us, it’s just stories that have a hook and mesmerize you. And that’s that’s basically the whole thing. Genre comes after that.
You’ve retained control of your own careers through Don Films. Is that something you’ll be continuing for the foreseeable future? Or do you ever see yourselves “going Hollywood” if the right opportunity came along?
Aleksi Hyvärinen: We will continue to spin out of control!
Taneli Mustonen: I think yeah. that’s what it’s all about. Basically, the wonderful thing that we have with our own company that we run from from Helsinki, Finland is basically that we have total freedom, or “total freedom”. That’s one thing you need as a filmmaker.
And I wouldn’t say no if something was offered to us. But yeah, that’s a really interesting question. It wouldn’t matter. I wouldn’t mind getting more money! Because it’s not all glamor, you know, making these films, and we have to invest so many years for one film. But you get the freedom, so there’s upside to everything, I guess.
Aleksi Hyvärinen: Yeah, I guess I’ve heard some of the big, big, big Hollywood producers say that you pretty much always need at least a fifth more, no matter how big your budget is. But that’s kind of the reality, I guess. But I would say that the way we’ve worked, from ever since we started our company, coming from a fairly small country and a small marketplace, it’s all about networking, co-producing, co-writing, teaming up with people.
For us, the company has been a wonderful way of doing some things that we wanted to do, and make our dreams come true, The Twin is a great example of that. But at the same time, it wouldn’t have happened without collaborating with people. We have multiple companies, multiple producers and people who have helped us along the way. So in that sense, I don’t think either of us feels that strictly everything needs to be within the company, whatever opportunity comes, or whatever opportunity we’re able to create ourselves.
It’s not constrained within the company. Sometimes the company helps, and they have a passion to grow it of course, but at the same time, it’s all about what what drives you, and that’s through the story, and the people you work with. So, you know, we’re open to anything, I guess. Right, Taneli?
Taneli Mustonen: So yeah, we’re gonna have our phones open, for people in Hollywood to call us. Just kidding!

Disney and Marvel Studios should be forever grateful to James Gunn for what he did with the Guardians of the Galaxy. Prior to 2014, only hardcore comics fans had even heard of the team, but now they’re one of Marvel’s most popular IPs, have spawned a billion-dollar movie series, and a massive merchandising empire.
This has extended into Disney’s parks. In 2017, the company opened Guardians of the Galaxy – Mission: BREAKOUT! at Disney California Adventure Park, boasting all-new footage from Gunn and the cast.
That seems to have been a sizeable hit, as they’ve just released details of Guardians of the Galaxy: Cosmic Rewind, which will open soon at Disney World’s Epcot. Billed as a “storytelling roller coaster”, Marvel.com has just published a feature revealing some of the story.

At the core will be the Celestial Eson, a former wielder of the Power Stone who wants “to right a wrong in a big way” and needs the help of everyone’s favorite space oddballs. Disney promises that his first appearance will “startle” guests, and goes on to describe the ride itself as:
“A “story coaster” that will amaze guests as it rotates 360 degrees throughout the attraction so the focus is always on the action, and additionally will feature a reverse launch on a coaster, never before seen in Disney Parks. It is also one of the longest enclosed coasters in the world, which means it lives up to and matches the enormous scale of adventures of the Guardians of the Galaxy films!”
This ride will be just one part of a major hot streak for the team. They’ll first appear in Thor: Love and Thunder, star in Disney Plus one-off The Guardians of the Galaxy Holiday Special, and then, in a year’s time, the long-awaited Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.
Given that everyone who’s read Gunn’s script came away in tears, this could be their final hurrah, so let’s hope he nails it.

Anyone who has watched the latest MCU film is aware that America Chavez is at the core of Doctor Strange in the Multiverse of Madness. The plot revolves around her multiversal power set, with young actor Xochitl Gomez going head-to-head with heavyweights like Benedict Cumberbatch and Elizabeth Olsen.
That’s a lot of pressure considering Gomez was just 15 when the shooting of the film began, but she delivered her best and ensured that America will go on to have a bright future in the MCU. Now, in a new interview with Entertainment Weekly, Gomez has gone into detail about the method she opted to approach the role:
“It was very important for me to keep that youthful, fake-it-till-you-make-it kind of vibe. In this movie, there’s a lot of heavy stuff going on. It’s not easy when you’re a teenager and you have all this pressure and crazy stuff going on around you. You have to remember that you are a kid. You’re allowed to make mistakes, and we’re all learning.”

It also seems that the MCU veterans took her under their wing, especially Elizabeth Olsen, who Gomez singles out as a source of “great advice” and guidance.
“She [Olsen] did give me great advice. She told me to never hesitate to give Marvel any notes or any opinions I have because they really want to hear my input. At first, I was like, ‘Oh my gosh, really? I don’t know, okay.’ But I did take her advice, and it was really rewarding. Especially at my age, I [focused on] some of the small things that I would say, like, ‘I feel America would do this or that.’ Sam would be like, ‘Let’s do it!'”
The end result is — appropriately — marvellous and all indications are that America Chavez is destined to become a central feature in the MCU. The comics may also give us a clue as to what Marvel Studios’ eventual plans for the character are. In an issue of All-New Hawkeye, the characters travel 30 years into the future to discover that America is now ‘Captain America Chavez,’ the leader of the Avengers.
So, perhaps one day (hopefully not too soon), we may see Sam Wilson bequeath that iconic shield to Chavez just as Steve Rogers passed it down to him. It will be a long road until we get to that point, but we’re betting it’s going to be one hell of a ride.

Arguably even more so than the MCU, the disparate pieces that make up the entire Star Wars mythology are spread far and wide. Much of that owes to the fact that George Lucas’ seminal space soap opera is fast approaching its 50th anniversary, with Disney’s acquisition of the franchise — and subsequent retcon of the entire Expanded Universe — only further muddying the waters.
So where, exactly, do shows like The Mandalorian, Rebels and The Clone Wars sit, in the chronological history of a galaxy far, far away? Thankfully, the Mouse House has finally pulled its finger out and done the hard work for us all.
Disney has yet to deliver its own version of the full image, but while we wait, Reddit user u/jasmosis has handily stitched the assets, originally sent out via email, together to form one constant series of events.
No surprises here as far as the three core trilogies are concerned, then, though we suspect more than a few eyebrows will be furrowed by Star Wars Resistance. The short-lived animated series had its original run back in 2018 and followed Kazuda Xiono, a pilot of the New Republic who finds themselves assigned to keeping a close eye on the First Order during its fledging years and as a potential threat as the Galactic Empire’s successor.
As they have yet to release, Rogue Squadron and Andor have yet to make their mark on the timeline, and it’ll be interesting to see when all’s said and done, where they’ll come to rest.
