First Official Poster For Spider-Man: No Way Home Seen In Public

As you’ll no doubt be aware, we’re just six weeks away from the long-awaited arrival of Spider-Man: No Way Home, and yet there’s not even a whisper as to when we can expect that second full-length trailer, at least not in an official capacity.

The hype continues to build, though, with Tom Holland’s third solo outing surely destined to become the single biggest box office hit of the pandemic give the levels of anticipation and expectation that surround it. Before that, we’ll need Sony and Marvel to actually kick off the marketing campaign, which appears to be getting more and more imminent.

Black Adam Producer Promises A Very High Kill Count

Everyone involved in Black Adam is going to great pains to outline that the titular superhero isn’t a cookie-cutter good guy by any stretch of the imagination, even though the role is being inhabited by Dwayne Johnson, the A-list megastar who always tends to play slight variations on largely the same wholesome, heroic persona.

Having been described by director Jaume Collet-Serra as the Dirty Harry of the genre, the leading man and producer laughed off suggestions that Teth-Adam would have a no-kill rule, which was immediately reinforced when one of the first things he did in the DC FanDome sizzle reel was electrocute somebody into nothingness.

Eternals Director Appears To Cast Some Doubt On Sequel Return

Today marks the opening day of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals, which is generating plenty of headlines for the wrong reasons after becoming the worst-reviewed installment in the franchise’s history, with the Rotten Tomatoes score of the cosmic epic having dropped even lower over the last few days to 51%.

The good news is that it’s still on track to score one of the best box office debuts of the pandemic era, with the latest projections estimating a $75 million three-day frame and a $150 million global haul. Every single MCU movie with the sole exception of The Incredible Hulk has either gotten at least one sequel or has a follow up in the works, so we’ll be very interested to see what the future holds for the titular team.

Red Notice Producer Teases Plans For A Franchise

Netflix wouldn’t have spent $200 million on an original high concept blockbuster starring A-listers Dwayne Johnson, Ryan Reynolds and Gal Gadot, all of whom are more than familiar with lending their talents to a multi-film series, if there wasn’t a plan in mind for a potential Red Notice franchise.

The globetrotting action epic comes to streaming next week, where it’s guaranteed to become one of the platform’s biggest hits ever, despite the reviews being less than enthusiastic. At the time of writing, Red Notice‘s Rotten Tomatoes score has plummeted to 35%, although the central trio are largely coming in for praise.

Eternals Star Reflects On Getting A Second Chance At The MCU

Plenty of actors have tackled multiple roles in Marvel projects before, with Josh Brolin and Chris Evans playing Cable and Johnny Storm for Fox before suiting up as Thanos and Captain America for Marvel Studios, while Ryan Reynolds played Hannibal King in Blade: Trinity half a decade before he debuted as Wade Wilson in X-Men Origins: Wolverine.

However, Gemma Chan is in a category all by herself after becoming the first name to play two prominent characters in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, following up her bit-part as Captain Marvel‘s Minn-Erva by taking top billing in Eternals as Sersi.

Harry Potter Director Says He’s Glad He Chose It Over Spider-Man

Plenty of names had been considered to direct the movie that eventually became Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, with James Cameron developing the project in the 1990s before a variety of other filmmakers were contacted about the position, including very surprising candidate David Fincher.

In the end, Raimi’s lifelong love of the character and his unique visual sensibilities ended up landing him the gig, but not before it had been turned down by Chris Columbus. It must have been a flattering situation for the Home Alone and Mrs. Doubtfire director to find himself in at the turn of the millennium, when he had offers on the table to take the reins of two massive properties with multi-billion dollar franchise potential.

Zack Syder Teases Time Loops, Portals And Alternate Dimensions In Planet Of The Dead

Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead was hardly a shrinking violet, but it sounds as though direct sequel Planet of the Dead is going to be at least twice as insane as its predecessor if the filmmaker manages to cram even half of the ideas he’s been touting into the screenplay.

Army of Thieves was a light, breezy crime caper with romantic comedy elements, while upcoming animated companion series Lost Vegas will dive into the origins of the zombie apocalypse and why it involved the entirety of Las Vegas being walled in from the outside world. However, Snyder teased in a recent interview with Variety that he’s planning all sorts of crazy segues in the second mainline installment of the rapidly-expanding universe.

Eternals Writers Reveal How The Multiverse Impacts The Story

Chloé Zhao may have rewritten the script when she signed on to direct, but the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals comes with four different names being credited on the screenplay.

The story was conceived by Kaz and Ryan Firpo, who penned the earliest drafts with Patrick Burleigh, before two-time Academy Award-winning Nomadland filmmaker Zhao came on board and gave it the once-over. Too many cooks can often spoil the broth, but that’s not to suggest that any of the scriptwriting quartet are directly to blame for the middling reviews that have seen Eternals become the worst-reviewed entry in MCU history.

Black Adam Producer Says It Pushes PG-13 Boundaries Like The Dark Knight

You’d be here all day if you were asked to name a list of comic book blockbusters, or just movies in general, that found themselves heavily indebted to Christopher Nolan’s The Dark Knight, which has turned out to be one of the most influential Hollywood movies of the 21st Century.

On the surface, there aren’t many direct comparisons that can be made between the middle chapter of the filmmaker’s acclaimed trilogy and next summer’s Black Adam, other than the obvious fact that both are DC Comics adaptations. However, in a new interview with CBR, producer Hiram Garcia name-dropped the modern classic when talking about how Dwayne Johnson’s superhero debut will stretch the limits of its PG-13 rating to breaking point.

Almost like clockwork, a new rumor hailing from Geekosity offers that it’s on the cards, although it does require a certain leap of the imagination, even if Johnson and Gadot are more than familiar with each other having collaborated on the Fast & Furious franchise and Netflix’s Red Notice, without even mentioning their respective DCEU credentials.

Dwayne Johnson And Emily Blunt Have Brilliant Ideas For Jungle Cruise Sequel

Dwayne Johnson and Emily Blunt may have generated precisely zero romantic chemistry in Disney’s Jungle Cruise, but the two nonetheless sparked off each other brilliantly in this summer’s theme park adaptation. Perhaps the sequel should drop the love interest angle altogether, because Frank Wolff and Lily Houghton are much better suited to a straightforward odd couple adventure.

The two A-list stars evidently get on like a house on fire, regularly cracking up on the press circuit as they mercilessly ribbed each other at every turn, with the Mouse House even reaching out to politely ask the stars to stop mentioning anal beads as they promoted a family-friendly blockbuster designed to appeal to all ages.

We’ve seen four movies starring the titular team so far, the very best of which could generously be described as mediocre. Thor: Ragnarok Trends As Fans Celebrate The Movie’s 4th Anniversary

It wouldn’t be a stretch to say that the Thor franchise was hardly the high point of the Marvel Cinematic Universe until Taika Waititi came along and completely upended the formula with his wonderfully irreverent cosmic buddy adventure Ragnarok.

Kenneth Branagh’s first installment was a perfectly solid origin story laced with the filmmaker’s signature Shakespearean trappings, but setting the majority of the story in a dusty town in New Mexico was hardly the most thrilling of locales. Alan Taylor’s The Dark World was a disjointed shambles, and fully deserves the status of being labeled as one of the MCU’s weakest entries.

Based on what we’ve seen so far, Netflix’s Army of the Dead universe is setting out a stall for each new installment to tackle a variety of different genres, with the recurring theme obviously being the zombie apocalypse.

Zack Snyder’s opening installment was an action-heavy blockbuster with plenty of blood, guts and gore, and even teased a few sci-fi elements that were never really explored or explained in great detail. Zack Snyder Teases Army Of The Dead Spinoff For Fan Favorite Character

Many reviews for Zack Snyder’s Army of the Dead, and no small amount of fan reactions on top of that, lauded Tig Notaro’s sardonic performance as helicopter pilot Marianne Peters for being one of the movie’s undoubted highlights.

While that’s hardly out of the ordinary on paper, in practice it makes the means behind her performance all the more impressive. Notaro was cast eight months after Army of the Dead had wrapped shooting once Chris D’Elia was dropped in the wake of sexual misconduct allegations, and her contributions to the film were shot against a green screen on her own, before being composited into the final cut.
