Batgirl Star Teases Intense Preparations For HBO Max Movie

It’s been almost four months since Leslie Grace was announced to be headlining HBO Max’s Batgirl, so it’s no surprise to discover that the actress has been putting in the work, both inside and outside of the gym.

Bad Boys for Life directors Billall Fallah and Adil El Arbi are helming the streaming exclusive with a script from Birds of Prey and The Flash scribe Christina Hodson, but that’s about all we know for sure. J.K. Simmons was reported to be in talks to return as Commissioner Gordon a while back, something Grace would love to see happen, but the Academy Award winner hasn’t been confirmed for the ensemble as of yet.

Marvel Producer Reveals How X-Men Inspired Eternals’ Costume Design

Designing costumes for a live-action superhero blockbuster requires striking the right balance; the outfits need to both reflect and respect the comic book origins so as not to piss of the fanbase, but also have a practical in-canon explanation for why the characters feel compelled to suit up in such outlandish duds.

Some fans still bristle at Willem Dafoe’s Green Goblin armor from Sam Raimi’s Spider-Man, while longtime X-Men enthusiasts were up in arms when the Fox franchise favored leather jumpsuits over anything even remotely resembling the team’s signature look.

Eternals Director Used A Photo Of Sand And A Poem To Land The Job

It must be daunting for a filmmaker to take a pitch meeting with Marvel Studios given the franchise’s unprecedented success over the last thirteen years. Stepping into a room with Kevin Feige and his trusted lieutenants to explain why you’re the ideal person to tackle the latest mega budget superhero epic is enough to cause sleepless nights, but Eternals director ChloĆ© Zhao reveals she took a more interesting approach.

At the time she landed the gig, Zhao had yet to win two Academy Awards for directing and producing the acclaimed Nomadland, so she didn’t have the industry cache that she does now. However, she clearly did something right if Feige admitted he wouldn’t have dreamed of making the movie without her.

Gerard Butler’s Next Action Thriller Has Wrapped Production

Even though he launched legal action against the production companies behind Olympus Has Fallen, Gerard Butler’s recent increase in enthusiasm for multi-film franchises hasn’t been dampened in the slightest.

Not including archival footage of the actor’s Leonidas from 300: Rise of an Empire, Mike Banning is currently the only role Butler has played more than once other than his voice performances as How to Train Your Dragon‘s Stoick the Vast, with his fourth outing in Night Has Fallen expected to begin production before the end of next year.

Iconic Horror Author Teases More Adaptations Of His Work

Although the two couldn’t be more different in terms of style and target audience, it wouldn’t be too much of a stretch to name R.L. Stine as the Stephen King of children’s and young adult literature.

After all, the author has spent the last 35 years penning a never-ending string of novels, short stories, comic books and much more, many of which hold a special place in the hearts of readers all over the world. While his back catalogue hasn’t been mined anywhere near as often or repeatedly as King’s, that could be about to change.

Halloween Producer Says He’d Love To Rework Season Of The Witch

Jason Blum is no stranger to franchise fare, having steered the Paranormal Activity, Happy Death Day, Insidious, Ouija, Sinister and The Purge properties to massive box office success, while he also resurrected M. Night Shyamalan’s long-dormant plans for an Unbreakable universe by backing Split and Glass.

This week brings the release of Halloween Kills, the middle chapter in Blumhouse and David Gordon Green’s trilogy, but questions are already being asked about what comes next. One title that keeps coming up is 1982’s Season of the Witch, the third installment in the franchise that’s notable for being the only one not to feature Michael Myers.

Is Andrew Garfield in Spider-Man: No Way Home? According to both the actor and the Marvel Cinematic Universe blockbuster’s leading man Tom Holland he isn’t, but nobody believes a word they’re saying.

Neither Marvel nor Sony have confirmed that we’re getting more than one web-slinger in December’s threequel, but you can only imagine the fury and disappointment among the fanbase were the credits to fade on No Way Home without seeing Garfield or Tobey Maguire suit up and swing back into action.

Eternals Producer Explains The Challenges Of Building To Avengers 5

It’s no coincidence that the quartet of Avengers movies account for the four highest-grossing installments in Marvel Cinematic Universe history, with Earth’s Mightiest Heroes proving to be a much stronger force at the box office than their disparate standalone adventures.

In fact, if you count the superhero spectaculars as a standalone mini-franchise in its own right, then the Avengers are the stars of the fourth most lucrative property in the history of cinema behind only the MCU at large, Star Wars and the Wizarding World. Make no mistake; a fifth outing is happening eventually, we just don’t know how far away it is.

The Purge 6 Will Feature A 10-Year Time Jump

The situation surrounding The Purge 6 is a strange one, if only for the fact the next installment in the hit horror/thriller franchise has yet to be given the official green light by Universal.

The series has earned over half a billion dollars at the box office on combined production costs of just $53 million, while creator James DeMonaco has a script written and is willing to direct for the first time since third chapter Election Year. He did say he’d only make the movie if it starred Frank Grillo as Leo Barnes, but that isn’t going to be an issue for the actor.

Matt Damon And Ben Affleck Didn’t Write The Ending To Their First Script In 25 Years

It’s taken a long time for Ben Affleck and Matt Damon to write another script together, with Ridley Scott’s The Last Duel coming to theaters on Friday, 24 years after Good Will Hunting arrived and ultimately led to the duo nabbing an Academy Award for Best Original Screenplay.

Of course, the childhood friends have remained close friends and regular collaborators on either side of the camera since then, but they just didn’t settle on the right project to crack together. An R-rated medieval drama set in 14th Century France was hardly the obvious choice, but The Last Duel has been winning strong reviews since premiering at the Venice Film Festival.

Free Guy Star Says They’d Jump At The Chance To Return For A Sequel

Killing Eve marked her out as one of the industry’s fast-rising young talents to keep an eye on, and Free Guy was just her third feature film credit to date, with the other two being micro budget British drama England is Mine and a brief cameo in Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker as Rey’s mother.

Eternals’ New Origin Story Could Lead To More Gods In The MCU

It was recently confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Eternals will be making sweeping changes to the titular team’s origin story, one that better suits the franchise’s established canon.

In the comic books, the Eternals were created by the Celestials experimenting on human DNA, which also gave birth to their arch-nemeses the Deviants. As revealed by producer Nate Moore, the movie will instead position the immortal aliens as native to the planet Olympia, where they’re dispatched by the Celestials to take care of the Deviants on Earth, where they decided to stay.

An Old Tom Hanks Movie Is Blowing Up On Disney Plus Today

Tom Hanks might be the most beloved actor working today and is an inspirational figure both on and off the big screen. But his most iconic role consists of only his warm and friendly voice: Woody from Toy Story. Hanks has played Woody from 1995 onwards in multiple critically acclaimed Pixar sequels, but for me, the original is still the best.

Disney Plus audiences seem to agree, as per FlixPatrol the first Toy Story is zooming up the streaming charts like it’s got a firework duct-taped to its back. Sure, the CGI animation might be antiquated by modern standards (you could probably render it in real-time on a PS5), but the story of Woody learning humility and Buzz realizing he’s not a real space ranger still hits you in the feels just as it did for audiences 26 years ago.

Bill Murray Rumored For Ant-Man And The Wasp: Quantumania

The key to getting Bill Murray to sign on for a movie is being able to find him, with the actor’s avoidance of the usual Hollywood trappings having become the stuff of legend. He doesn’t have an agent, a manager, a cellphone or even a home phone, with the actor confirming that the only way he can be reached is by leaving a message on an automated 1-800 number he doesn’t check all that often.

He does make an exception for Wes Anderson, though, admitting that the acclaimed filmmaker gets an instant yes whenever he asks the Ghostbusters legend to be part of his latest project. For a lot of people, Rocket Racoon seems the most likely candidate, which makes a great deal of sense. Dave Bautista has constantly reiterated that he’s done with the franchise after Vol. 3, so Drax would be too obvious. Chinese Blockbuster Set To Become 2021’s Highest-Grossing Movie

Much has been made about the resurgence of Hollywood blockbusters at the box office, and rightly so. Venom: Let There Be Carnage became the first release since 2019 to open at $90 million or above, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings crossed $200 million domestic and $400 million worldwide in short order, while No Time to Die sailed passed a global haul of $300 million after just ten days in release.

However, they still can’t hold a candle to what’s been happening in China, with the market rebounding much faster and a whole lot stronger than business on home soil. Fast & Furious 9 may be the highest-grossing American-backed blockbuster of the pandemic era, but the current record actually belongs to Hi, Mom, which hauled in $822 million, with only a million dollars of that total coming from theaters outside of China.
