Shang-Chi Sequel Will Reportedly Feature [SPOILERS]

The movie’s chances of box office success are far from guaranteed, but given the extenuating circumstances caused by the long-lasting effects of the pandemic, Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings most likely won’t be a one-and-done venture into mystical martial arts territory should it bomb at the box office in a worst-case scenario.

Kevin Feige has already teased that several characters from Destin Daniel Cretton’s blockbuster will be returning sooner than you might think, while Simu Liu has been throwing out all sorts of suggestions for what could be next for his title hero, including a Spider-Man crossover and the MCU’s first musical installment.

However, we’re now hearing from our sources – the same ones who told us Tony Leung’s real Mandarin would be retconned as Shang-Chi’s father long before it was officially confirmed – that a sequel could lead to the introduction of the shared mythology’s rebooted Iron Fist.

We’ve been hearing for a while that Danny Rand could be on his way back, without Finn Jones after the actor’s Netflix solo series was pretty definitively named as the worst of the Defenders lineup, and the mystical lost city of K’un-Lun may have already been teased by Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings star Michelle Yeoh when she was discussing her role in the film.

While we won’t know for sure if that’s the case until the MCU’s landmark 25th installment comes to theaters on September 3rd, it wouldn’t be too difficult to have Iron Fist assimilated into the pocket of the universe Shang-Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings occupies.

James Franco Trends Following Spider-Man: No Way Home Trailer

From the second it was officially confirmed that the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Spider-Man: No Way Home would be dealing with the concept of the multiverse, the rumor mill went into overdrive about who could potentially end up making a cameo appearance in Tom Holland’s third solo film.

Almost everyone even tangentially connected to the web-slinger found themselves the subject of speculation, covering almost every character to have played a supporting role in both the Sam Raimi and Marc Webb franchises, as well as names Spidey has never shared the screen with before including Tom Hardy’s Venom, Jared Leto’s Morbius, Ryan Reynolds’ Deadpool and more.

However, one person who never found themselves being linked to No Way Home was James Franco, which most people assumed was down to the series of allegations leveled against the actor, writer, director, producer and author over the last few years, which were serious enough to see close friend Seth Rogen cut ties with his longtime regular collaborator.

As you can see from the reactions below, though, some fans think the Green Goblin tease in the No Way Home trailer could provide a major twist that would see Franco’s Harry Osborn emerge from the multiverse in addition to Willem Dafoe’s Norman.

There are definite similarities in the voices, but you’d also have to believe that Sony and Marvel wouldn’t bring in someone like Franco, knowing fine well that certain sections of the fanbase would vociferously reject his presence based on the accusations he’s faced. Now that the first promo is finally live, maybe a second trailer closer to the December release date will shed more light on the identity Spider-Man: No Way Home‘s Green Goblin.

Venom: Let There Be Carnage Reportedly Getting Pushed To 2022

It was only yesterday that the Sony Pictures Universe of Marvel Characters rebranded to Sony’s Spider-Man Universe, and the announcement of a much more palatable title for the studio’s shared superhero mythology was almost instantly followed up by some news that could be very bad indeed.

Less than two weeks ago, Sony confirmed what everyone had been expecting since the most recent trailer conveniently omitted a release date by delaying Venom: Let There Be Carnage from September 25th to October 15th. Looking at how the box office is struggling to rebound to any significant extent, it made sense from a commercial perspective when the company doesn’t have the cushion of a streaming service to fall back on.

Just days later, it was rumored that Let There Be Carnage could end up being pushed back even further, and a new report claims that Andy Serkis’ sequel could be set to take the January 2022 slot previously awarded to Morbius after Jared Leto’s debut as the Living Vampire was itself heavily affected by the pandemic-era domino effect.

If the rumblings turn out to be true, then Morbius is obviously going to need to be shunted even further into next year as the former SPUMC’s expansion plans continue to face setback after setback. It could be telling that the marketing campaign for Venom: Let There Be Carnage has effectively ground to a halt following the arrival of the most recent promo, and with October 15th just over seven weeks away, fans may need to brace themselves for the worst all over again.
