Wonder Woman 1984 To Release Via Streaming And In Theaters On Same Day

As it stands, Wonder Woman 1984 is one of just a small handful of major titles that are still locked in for a theatrical release before the end of 2020, along with much anticipated sequel The Croods: A New Age and video game adaptation Monster Hunter. However, given that the theatrical industry is still clouded with uncertainty, many have been wondering whether Warner Bros. would change plans once more and delay the pic yet again.

After all, Patty Jenkins’ movie stood a good chance of cracking $1 billion at the box office had COVID-19 not got in its way, and the studio surely has a lot riding on the project. Especially since Christopher Nolan’s Tenet ended up being a bit of a flop for them as far as the finances were concerned.

But it seems that WB is holding steady and will still release Wonder Woman 1984 into cinemas on Christmas Day. However, there’s a catch, as they’ll also drop it onto HBO Max at the same time. That’s right, the film will arrive in theaters and on the aforementioned streaming service on December 25th, giving folks two options for how to watch it.

Obviously, this is an unprecedented move, but undoubtedly the smartest one that Warner Bros. could make given the circumstances. And it’ll be fascinating to see how everything shakes out in the end in terms of how Wonder Woman 1984 performs and if any other big releases follow suit.

For now, though, fans can breathe easy knowing they’ll get to catch back up with Gal Gadot’s heroine before the year is out, and we can only hope that life returns to normal sooner rather than later so that we can all enjoy going to theaters again and not have to worry about the spread of a deadly virus.

Scream Fans Are Divided On The Fifth Movie’s New Title

The next installment in the Scream franchise isn’t set to hit theaters until January 2022, but filming has already wrapped despite a couple of setbacks related to the Coronavirus pandemic, meaning that new directors Matt Bettinelli-Olpin and Tyler Gillett have plenty of time in post-production to ensure that the fifth entry lives up to the legacy established by creator and horror legend Wes Craven, who passed away in 2015.

Neve Campbell, Courteney Cox and David Arquette are back to fill the quota of seasoned players that have seen and done it all before, while fresh faces include Melissa Barrera, Jenna Ortega, Jack Quaid, Dylan Minnette and Kyle Gallner. This next outing in the slasher franchise comes eleven years after the fourth installment, and based on how the sequels have been numbered so far, everyone was expecting it to be called Scream 5, which would make sense.

However, continuing the bizarre trend of naming movies out of continuity that’s plagued the business for years, the sequel is instead titled Scream. So, in terms of canon, that’s Scream, Scream 2, Scream 3, Scream 4 and Scream. Unsurprisingly, fans are divided by the decision, and you can check out some of the reactions below.

The Halloween reboot/sequel hybrid might have been the inspiration, but as far as we know, Scream is going to acknowledge the events of the last four efforts, while David Gordon Green’s reinvention of Michael Myers ignored everything except John Carpenter’s classic original. If Ghostface’s next adventure lives up to what Craven brought to the franchise, though, then fans will no doubt get over the unusual choice of title pretty quickly. But we’re still fourteen months away from finding out if that’ll be the case or not.

Expert Believes Johnny Depp’s Career Will Never Recover

Hollywood has a famously short memory, and there are countless names over the years who have been completely written off, only to rise like a phoenix from the ashes and continue to go about their business like nothing even happened at all.

Roman Polanski, Woody Allen, Mel Gibson, Robert Downey Jr. and many more have all been embroiled in various scandals, but in the long run, it didn’t end their careers as many had speculated at the time, although none managed to hit anything even resembling previous heights with the exception of RDJ, who became the biggest movie star on the planet.

That means that it might not be all over for Johnny Depp, despite the actor having been dropped from his second major franchise. Without Fantastic Beasts and Pirates of the Caribbean, though, the 57 year-old has lost out on two very high paying roles, which isn’t ideal when he’s already frittered away an eye-watering $750 million and has even more legal battles on the horizon.

Depp certainly still has the backing of his fans, however, who have been unwavering in their support when it comes to launching petitions and threatening to boycott both Fantastic Beasts 3 and Aquaman 2, but former federal prosecutor Neama Rahmani is less than convinced about his chances of making a comeback, saying:

“I predict his career may never recover. Disney has lost interest in Depp for its Pirates of the Caribbean franchise, and I can’t imagine any other major studio wanting to work with him. He’s going to be the next Harvey Weinstein.”

You can never say never in the movie business, but Johnny Depp faces a long and difficult road to reclaim his former glories. There’ve already been reports that most of the major studios are unwilling to sign him up for future projects, and the hard work starts now for the fallen A-lister before he fades completely into obscurity and becomes Hollywood’s forgotten man.

Deadpool 3’s Cheeky Title Reportedly Revealed In New Leak

We’re closing in on the one year anniversary of Ryan Reynolds confirming that Deadpool 3 was officially in active development at Marvel Studios, and in terms of concrete information… that’s about all we know so far. That hasn’t stopped the rumor mill from going into overdrive, though, and barely a day seems to pass without a new story doing the rounds about how, when, where or why the Merc with a Mouth will finally make his long-awaited debut in the Marvel Cinematic Universe.

So far, everything has remained strictly in the realm of speculation, but a new leak is now claiming to offer up some massive details surrounding the project. Admittedly, the story originated on 4Chan, so should obviously be taken with a pretty big pinch of salt, but the site has proved to be fairly reliable in the past when it comes to revealing major developments that affect the MCU.

Not only is Deadpool 3 said to be getting announced for real this time in three weeks from tomorrow on December 10th, but it’ll apparently be titled Deadpool: Retcon, which would perfectly fit the character’s irreverent sense of humor. The movie will also reportedly be released under the 20th Century Studios banner instead of Marvel’s flagship brand, similar to how Sony are technically the outfit behind the MCU’s Spider-Man series.

That would allow Wade Wilson to retain his signature foul mouth and keep an R-rating without forcing Disney into lending their reputable family-friendly name to a raunchy and violent superhero blockbuster. If true, then these are some huge developments for Deadpool 3, and we only have to wait a couple of weeks to find out the veracity of the latest info dump.
