James Gunn Would Refuse To Make Guardians Of The Galaxy Vol. 3 Without Dave Bautista

When James Gunn was initially fired from Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3 after a series of questionable tweets he made a decade prior had resurfaced and swiftly gone viral, fans were in a state of uproar. After all, the vast majority of folks aren’t the same person now as they were ten years ago, and the filmmaker had already gone out of his way to apologize for any offense caused either at the time or when his comments made the headlines the second time around.

The cast rallied behind their director, but Dave Bautista was a lot more vocal than the rest of the ensemble when it came to defending Gunn. The former professional wrestler was adamant that he would quit the Marvel Cinematic Universe altogether if the studio didn’t reverse their decision and reinstate the man responsible for bringing the Guardians to the big screen in the first place. And you have to admire the integrity of someone who would stick to their principles in the face of the hugely lucrative paycheck that comes with playing a major role in the world’s biggest franchise.

Of course, Gunn was eventually rehired and fans all over the world rejoiced, and in a recent social media exchange, The Suicide Squad director made it clear that he would return the favor and has no intention of making a Guardians of the Galaxy movie without Bautista’s involvement.

There’s a clear sense of camaraderie among the cast and crew, and now we just have to wait for Gunn to finish up on The Suicide Squad before we get a better idea of when we can expect to see Bautista and the rest of the gang back together for Guardians of the Galaxy Vol. 3.

Mortal Kombat Producer Says The Reboot Doesn’t Have A Release Date

As terrible as 2020 has been for any number of reasons, no matter how hard we might be hoping otherwise, things aren’t going to magically get back to normal as soon as we ring in the new year, and at this stage, don’t rule out the calendar changing to December 32nd, either. The Coronavirus has been the big talking point of the last eight months for good reason, and the theatrical industry has been hit particularly hard by the pandemic.

Christopher Nolan’s Tenet is the only major blockbuster that’s been released since March, and after it didn’t pull in the numbers Warner Bros. were hoping for, almost every other studio has packed up and fled from 2020, with many chains and independent theaters now facing some dire financial consequences.

January is often referred to as a dumping ground for unwanted movies anyway, and next year will probably be used to gauge the general levels of interest audiences have in returing to their local multiplex after the 2020 debacle has been consigned to the history books. Just don’t expect to see the Mortal Kombat reboot anytime soon, as in a recent social media exchange, producer Todd Garner admitted that there’s no new release date for it set in stone as of yet.

It was reported back in March that this could happen despite principal photography already having wrapped, and you can’t blame the studio for wanting to protect their investment by delaying Mortal Kombat until the video game adaptation has the best chance at maximizing its earning potential at the box office, which is looking like it might be a long way away yet given that the number one movie in America last weekend raked in $4 million.

Jason Blum Promises Fans Will Be Very Happy With Halloween Kills

Originally, we would’ve already got to see Halloween Kills about a month ago, and Blumhouse held off on moving back the much-anticipated sequel for the longest time. Unfortunately, though, there was just no other course open to them in the end, so now we’ve got another 11 months to wait until it finally hits theaters next October.

This puts the movie in a weird position where we’ve been hyped for it for a while now, meaning that when it eventually arrives, there’s a risk that we’ll be underwhelmed by the pic. Thankfully, though, producer Jason Blum doesn’t see much chance of that happening. While promoting his company’s latest effort, Freaky, he gave a brief comment on Kills to Inverse, promising that audiences will not be disappointed when they get to see it.

“Fans will be very happy, that’s all I’ll say.”

Obviously, it’s Blum’s job to talk up his movies, but we’ve heard very encouraging things about the sequel across the board. Kills sees David Gordon Green back in the director’s chair, after making the 2018 rebootquel such a success, and star Jamie Lee Curtis seems to think this one is even better, labelling it “a masterpiece.” The franchise veteran even teased how it’s got some unexpectedly timely societal themes through its exploration of mob mentality and what happens when communities feel threatened.

As that sounds, Kills will put less focus on Laurie Strode, who’ll be recuperating in Haddonfield Memorial Hospital after her experience in the last one, and more on how the Illinois townsfolk react to Michael Myers being on the loose again. Judy Greer and Andi Matichak are back as Laurie’s daughter Karen and granddaughter Allyson, respectively, with 1978 original cast members Nancy Stephens, Kyle Richards and Charles Cyphers returning. Anthony Michael Hall, meanwhile, is filling the role of Tommy Doyle.

Halloween Kills is scheduled for October 15th, 2021. In the meantime, body swap horror comedy Freaky, starring Vince Vaughn, hits VOD and limited theaters this Friday, November 13th.

Internet trolls seem to be faking Xbox Series X problems for memes

Microsoft’s latest next-gen console, the Xbox Series X (along with its smaller cousin, the Xbox Series S), has arrived. And with it comes a whole bunch of internet con artists trying to meme people into believing the new console is plagued by terrible issues.

You might, for example, have seen clips passed around the internet that showcased the Xbox Series X literally smoking. The posts would have you believe the blazing graphics of the Series X are so demanding they can cause an Xbox to catch fire, but the reality is much simpler than Xbox consoles spontaneously bursting into flame. What actually appears to be happening is that people are piping vape smoke into their new $500 consoles to give off the appearance of a fire to troll fans on...
