Star Trek: Discovery season 3 trailer jumps into the future

To coincide with the 54th anniversary of the TV debut of Star Trek’s original series, CBS has unveiled a new trailer for the third season of Star Trek: Discovery which is set to premiere on October 15th. If you’re in the US, where the show will stream on CBS All Access, you can watch the full trailer via the tweet below. International viewers, who’ll be able to watch the series on Netflix starting October 16th, can watch it over on the official Star Trek website.

Nintendo is said to be increasing its Switch production again, with a new Bloomberg report saying the company is asking its partners to manufacture as many as 30 million consoles this fiscal year. While Nintendo’s official forecast remains a conservative 19 million shipments, Bloomberg has reported hikes in production targets to 22 million, 25 million, and now 30 million throughout the year.

Netflix Reveals Release Date For Adam Sandler’s Halloween Movie

After signing a deal in 2014 to produce six films with Netflix, Adam Sandler seemed poised to take over the streaming platform with his signature brand of comedy. Now, after five of those movies have been released, it’s safe to say that they didn’t resonate too well with critics, though most of them went on to be very successful with subscribers. As a matter of fact, Murder Mystery is one of Netflix’s most popular films ever, showing that Sandler’s humor can always manage to find an audience.

Earlier this year, he signed a deal to extend his contract beyond the original six pictures to include another four, but before he even gets started on those, he’s still got one final entry on the way from his initial agreement. And as of today, we finally know when it’ll be released on Netflix.

Hubie Halloween tells the story of Hubie DuBois (Adam Sandler), an unusual but friendly community volunteer that’s typically mocked by local citizens for being strange. But when he finds himself in the middle of a murder case on Halloween night, he may be the only one who can set things right.

Adam Sandler Fans Think His Netflix Halloween Movie Is Revenge For Oscar Snub

With kids back in school and the world slowly coming out of lockdown it’s finally time to start getting excited about the upcoming Halloween season. At least, that’s what Netflix seems to think, as the popular streaming platform recently shared an early look at one of its thematically appropriate offerings for this October. No, not the new season of Stranger Things, but rather Adam Sandler‘s return to comedy in Hubie Halloween.

The film is Sandler’s first role since his lauded dramatic performance in last year’s Uncut Gems and casts him as a ridiculed deli worker in Salem, Massachusetts who must prove himself by solving a murder mystery and saving the town’s Halloween traditions in a comical adventure.

The screenshots shared today have reminded fans of Sandler’s threat to make the worst movie imaginable should he not receive an Oscar for best actor after his performance in Uncut Gems.

“If I don’t get it, I’m going to f**king come back and do one again that is so bad on purpose just to make you all pay,” said Sandler. “That’s how I get them.”

The Academy did not give Sandler so much as a nomination that year, causing fans all over the internet to suspect the timing of Hubie Halloween’s release is a sign of the actor making good on his promise. While it’s a funny thought, the fact that the film wrapped up filming in August of 2019 means it was probably not made out of spite. That would be about 6 months before The Academy Awards ceremony, for those wondering. Still, as you can see below, some people are convinced otherwise.

And even if Hubie Halloween turns out to be the worst movie of all time, it still won’t fulfill Adam Sandler‘s promise to “make [us] all pay.” After all, Netflix subscribers won’t have to pay a single extra cent to see the film after it drops on the platform on October 3rd.

As far as movies go, we’ve got Capital in the Twenty-First Century, an acclaimed documentary exploring corrupt businesses and contemporary capitalism, and Cargo, a 2019 Indian sci-fi flick about a future where the dead are recycled. You may also want to check out #Alive, a Korean zombie horror about a gamer’s struggle to survive the apocalypse as he’s forced to hunker down in his flat. It was released in its native country earlier this year with Netflix now distributing it elsewhere.

From Paris With Love

On the TV front, meanwhile, season 1 of fashion-themed Korean teen drama Record of Youth drops on the service, as does the second run of StarBeam, the superhero animated series for young kids about second grader Zoey whose alter ego is the superpowered StarBeam. The first season debuted on Netflix back in April.

Last but not least, we have 2010’s From Paris with Love. This actioner comes from Taken director Pierre Morel and is based on a story from Luc Besson. John Rhys Meyer stars as a low-ranking employee in the U.S. Ambassador’s office in the French capital who teams up with an American spy, played with over-the-top relish by John Travolta, to stop a terrorist attack. It got middling reviews, but it’s still one of the better Travolta films of recent years.

Microsoft’s next-gen Xbox Series S console leaked earlier today, just before the company officially confirmed its $299 pricing. Now a new leak is providing more details on exactly what’s inside the smaller Xbox Series S. Twitter leaker WalkingCat has posted a promotional video for the Series S, confirming that the console is targeting 120fps gaming at up to 1440p resolution and offering 512GB of storage.

The Xbox Series S will also include support for ray tracing, variable rate shading, and variable refresh rate. Microsoft is also including support for 4K media streaming, and even 4K upscaling for games. The video also reveals the Xbox Series S is the smallest Xbox ever, and it will be 60 percent smaller than the bigger Xbox Series X.

Microsoft confirms $299 Xbox Series S console

Hours after Microsoft’s Xbox Series S console widely leaked, the company has gone on the record to confirm its existence. In a tweet, Microsoft describes the Series S as offering “next-gen performance in the smallest Xbox ever” and lists the price as the previously leaked figure of $299.

The accompanying image gives a better look at the Series S than the first leaked picture, showing off how thin it is and confirming the lack of a disc drive. As with the leaked imagery, the Series S is pictured standing upright, but the orientation of the Xbox logo suggests it’s expected to be more commonly used in a traditional horizontal configuration.
