Chuck Norris Fans Celebrate His 80th Birthday On Twitter

Action icon and all-around legendary guy Chuck Norris is celebrating his 80th birthday today… Or maybe his birthday is celebrating him.

Born Carlos Ray Norris in Ryan, Oklahoma, the famous martial artist and film producer had a surprisingly melancholy childhood. His father was a drunk who would often put his family in financial crisis, causing Norris to exhibit introverted tendencies throughout his younger years – obviously a stark contrast from his action-packed career as a no-nonsense ass-kicker later in life. He picked up the nickname “Chuck” while serving in the United States Air Force where he began studying martial arts and soon started teaching karate. He eventually became the first ever westerner to earn the rank of 8th-degree black belt in taekwondo.

In 1972, Norris earned himself a long-term spot in Hollywood when he starred as Bruce Lee’s nemesis in The Way of the Dragon, which went on to be Hong Kong’s highest-grossing film of the year. This helped him to score roles in major movies of the time, such as A Force of One, The Octagon, Sidekicks and Top Dog. By the mid-80s, he was a certified Hollywood action star alongside such names as Arnold Schwarzenegger and Sylvester Stallone, leading him on the path to his highly-successful television series Walker, Texas Ranger in 1993.

But circling back to his birthday, and fans flocked to Twitter today to celebrate it, with the below Tweets representing just a sample of what folks are saying:

Of course, in more recent times, the internet has immortalized Norris with exaggerated “facts” and jokes about his toughness and masculinity, further expanding on the already incredible legacy of the star. His appearances in films began to wane by the 2000s, though he did show up in The Expendables 2, a film he tried to demand be PG-13. He failed to get his way, though, which might help explain why he didn’t make an appearance in the third flick in the series.

More recently, Norris has starred in a handful of commercials for companies like QuikTrip and Toyota. At 80 years of age, it’s hard to blame him for settling down. He could probably still strangle you with a cordless phone, though.

Happy birthday, Chuck Norris!

Watch: New Mutants TV Spot Features The Heroes Using Their Powers

The New Mutants is less than a month away from finally hitting theaters and fans everywhere can’t wait to see the long-awaited feature. Earlier marketing suggested the Josh Boone-directed motion picture was going to go heavy on the horror, but the latest TV spot, titled “Attitude,” indicates an apparent shift in marketing, as it reveals the characters using their powers and makes the film look more like your typical MCU effort.

As you can see above, we get our first glimpse of Charlie Heaton’s Cannonball blasting off and Henry Zaga’s Bobby heating things up by going into full Sunspot mode. But the true highlight of the video is Anya Taylor-Joy’s Illyana Rasputin, aka Magik, who shows off her magical abilities armed with a badass blue sword. It seems The New Mutants could end up being just as action-packed and humorous as the rest of the Marvel Cinematic Universe movies, which should please general audiences.

That being said, the last two spots continued the terrifying theme complete with creepy music and some rather haunting imagery. We know that the movie draws from the “Demon Bear” storyline from the comics as well, which reads like an 80s Stephen King story. It’s also said to take inspiration from Wes Craven films and even contains an homage to Nightmare on Elm Street 3. But Boone has also indicated that the pic will make audiences cry and also features a beautiful same-sex story, so right now, we frankly have no idea what to expect.

In any case, given how good both the action and horror aspects of the film look, we’re definitely looking forward to seeing The New Mutants when it arrives in theaters on April 3rd, 2020.

MCU Fans Freaking Out Over Guardians Of The Galaxy Showing Up In Thor: Love And Thunder

If it wasn’t already one of the most anticipated movies of the Marvel Cinematic Universe’s Phase Four, the excitement surrounding the upcoming Thor: Love and Thunder is only set to increase now that Vin Diesel has seemingly confirmed that the Guardians of the Galaxy are set to show up in the God of Thunder’s fourth solo outing.

Based on the cast and crew already assembled, the Asgardian epic is shaping up to be one of the best movies to ever come out of the MCU. Previous installment Ragnarok completely reinvented Chris Hemsworth’s stoic title character as the star of an intergalactic buddy comedy, and his dynamic with the Guardians across Avengers: Infinity War and Endgame only made fans want to see more of them together.

Then when you factor in recent Academy Award winner Taika Waititi returning to direct, Natalie Portman rejoining the MCU as much more than a standard love interest, the possibilities that come with Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie ruling over Asgard and none other than Christian Bale set to play the villain, all of the ingredients are there for one hell of a time at the movies.

Following Diesel’s ‘accidental’ slip of the tongue, people flocked to social media to react the news that the Asgardians of the Galaxy will ride again, and below, you can see just a sample of what folks are saying:

As the first of the MCU’s heroes to get a fourth standalone movie, the pressure is on for Thor: Love and Thunder to deliver, especially with Hemsworth now representing one of the franchise’s elder statesmen. Ragnarok set the bar pretty high, but Taika Waititi has promised that the follow-up is going to be twice as crazy, and you’d be foolish to bet against him given the cast that he’s starting to bring together.

Black Widow Might Feature Two Different Taskmasters

Fans are pretty excited to see Natasha Romanoff reunite with her spy family to take on Taskmaster and a new generation of Widows in the upcoming Marvel film. Ever since it was announced though, there’ve been many theories on the villain of Black Widow and now a new rumor has surfaced indicating there may be more than one Taskmaster that our heroes have to deal with.

For those unfamiliar, Taskmaster is a formidable adversary that can mimic the movements of his opponent, making him almost impossible to take down. The identity of the Black Widow villain has been shrouded in mystery for some time now. Many believed it was Rachel Weisz who would betray Romanoff though and it would turn out to be her under the mask. That theory has since been debunked, however, and The Handmaid’s Tale actor O.T. Fagbenle has teased that he’s the one playing the big bad. But now a new report has called the whole thing into question.

According to MCU Exchange, there may, in fact, end up being two Taskmasters in the upcoming Marvel flick. We know from the final trailer that Taskmaster is running a new program of Widows who possess no free will. One of them will be a 16-year-old girl named Anya, who’s believed to be the daughter of Fagbenle’s Taskmaster. The studio has been known to kill their villains off pretty quickly in the past and if they want to have someone take over the mantle for another appearance down the road, positioning Anya as the new Taskmaster once the original dies would be the way to do it.

We’ll have to wait and see if this rumor checks out or not and unfortunately, we may have to wait longer than expected, as there’ve been reports that Disney may delay the release of the pic due to the coronavirus, even though the film’s tracking very well at the box office. Let’s just keep our fingers crossed that we get to see how many Taskmasters end up in Black Widow on the current scheduled release date of May 1st, 2020.

Will Apple Watch sleep tracking in watchOS 7 Sherlock third party apps?

Photo by Vjeran Pavic / The Verg

Although we have no idea if Apple plans on holding a Spring hardware event or even its annual summer WWDC developer’s conference, we are starting to have a clearer idea of what’s coming than we did a couple weeks ago. That’s because 9to5Mac has been posting a series of stories based on information gleaned from the next version of iOS.

Weirdly enough, a lot of yesterday’s leaks from iOS weren’t so much about iOS itself as they were about accessories for the iPhone. For example, the Apple Watch may soon be able to detect oxygen levels, track sleep, and let users share watchfaces. I use the Apple Watch for sleep tracking now with Sleep++. Hopefully with official support Apple will automate some of the stuff I have to do manually every...
