Petition To Bring Johnny Depp Back To Pirates Of The Caribbean Almost At Its Goal

After Johnny Depp allegedly lost the role as the main star of Pirates of the Caribbean because of his messy legal battle with Amber Heard, fans are now petitioning for Disney to give Jack Sparrow back to him.

The Pirates franchise has always been a hit at the box office and while a number of unique features have contributed to that successful run over the years, there’s no denying that Johnny Depp is the glue that ends up holding it all together every time. Unfortunately, though, the Mouse House announced a couple of months ago that they didn’t intend to bring the star back for another installment, deciding instead to give the series a soft reboot with another actor at the helm.

Now, in light of the new evidence as part of Depp’s defamation lawsuit against Heard that exposed her for physically and emotionally abusing him during their time together, fans are banding up and asking for justice. As we previously reported, the petition to bring back Depp to Pirates of the Caribbean is quickly gaining momentum and as of now, it’s just shy of 29,000 signatures away from its 200,000 goal. It’s also interesting to note that it’s gaining traction concurrently as the petition to remove Amber Heard from Aquaman 2 is on its way to hit the next target of 500,000 signatures.

Of course, it remains to be seen if these appeals end up affecting the decision-making process at Disney and WB headquarters, but it seems that fans are quite adamant to see justice served, even if it’s at the expense of the actress behind the DCEU’s Mera losing her job. After all, as they point out, Depp had to unjustly endure the same thing, right?

Meanwhile, Paul Bettany has recently gotten dragged into the lawsuit against Heard as both sides continue to give evidence for review at court, proof that this messy squabble is still far from over.

They live on The VHS Vault, and as of this writing, there are more than 20,000 recordings you can peruse.

A lot of the recordings are from the 90s, which is when I was a kid, so I’ve found a lot of stuff that has given me all sorts of nostalgic feels. Take, for example, this collection of Nickelodeon commercial breaks recorded in April 1998:

GDC postponed to later this year over coronavirus concerns

This year’s annual Game Developers Conference has been postponed amid growing concern about the international coronavirus outbreaks. The event, which has run since 1988, was expected to take place from March 16th–20th in San Francisco.

“After close consultation with our partners in the game development industry and community around the world, we’ve made the difficult decision to postpone the Game Developers Conference this March,” reads a note posted to the official GDC post Friday evening. “Having spent the past year preparing for the show with our advisory boards, speakers, exhibitors, and event partners, we’re genuinely upset and disappointed not to be able to host you at this time.”

Another coronavirus case of unknown origin identified in California

A second case of COVID-19 with an unknown origin has been identified in Santa Clara county, California on Friday. This indicates to health experts that the novel coronavirus — which causes the disease COVID-19 — is likely spreading through more than one community in the US.

The Washington Post first reported news of the second case of community transmission in the US — a 65-year-old woman who had no known history of travel to any of the countries that have been hardest-hit by the disease.

So far, more than 84,000 cases of COVID-19 have been confirmed around the world, and more than 2,800 people have died of the respiratory disease. Most of these cases are concentrated in China, where the virus was first identified, but the disease has...

Jurassic World: Dominion Set Photo Teases Dinosaurs In The Snow

Guess Chris Pratt wasn’t kidding about the worldwide aspect of Jurassic World 3 (or Jurassic World: Dominion, as we should be saying now).

A new set image released via Colin Trevorrow’s Instagram account showcases something seldom seen in a Jurassic Park movie – snow. It should be said that just because it’s snowy that doesn’t mean it’s “worldwide.” On the contrary, the dust and snow gives off a markedly western vibe. But in terms of expanding the palette of the franchise, which is what I take worldwide to mean, this image certainly does that and seems to indicate that we’ll be seeing some dinos roaming around in this terrain.

Cool, eh? Hopefully it’s a sign of more to come – as I stressed in an earlier article, I want nothing more than for Jurassic Park/World/Dominion movies to excite, as opposed to dragging their exhausted arses back into your multiplex for another joyless billion-dollar paycheck. Joyless on the viewer’s part, as I’m sure the cheque went down very well at Universal Towers. But come on guys, give us something to cheer for.

Drop a comment, leave a like, take a selfie (don’t do that), the message boards are your oyster. Jurassic World: Dominion is just, oo, let’s run this down, 469 days from release. That really does make it sound like the distant future. Does 67 weeks make it sound easier? You could get a lot done in 67 weeks. Fall in love, learn the banjo, join a cult.

What are you doing wasting it reading drivel like this? Forget the message boards, the world is your oyster. Go out and live your best life, and do so before Jurassic World: Dominion comes out. Let the cave trolls work in peace.

Godzilla Vs. Kong Scores Strong Test Screening After Heavy Reshoots

It appears that things may finally be looking up for the highly-anticipated showdown between two of cinema’s most iconic monsters in Godzilla Vs. Kong. The latest installment of Legendary’s MonsterVerse has suffered a couple of major setbacks, with the original March release date delayed by eight months following reports that the studio weren’t happy with what director Adam Wingard had put together. This led to some pretty extensive reshoots, which have no doubt sent the budget skyrocketing given the amount of expensive CGI needed to bring the title characters to life, leading many to speculate that the MonsterVerse was already on the brink of collapse.

The franchise got off to a good start with Gareth Edwards’ Godzilla and Jordan Vogt-Roberts’ prequel Kong: Skull Island, both of which scored solid reviews and earned over $500 million each at the box office. However, the wheels started to fall off a little bit with Michael Dougherty’s Godzilla follow-up King of the Monsters, which failed to live up to the expectations set by the stunning first trailer, with fans wondering how a movie that featured so many iconic kaiju could turn out to be so dull. It didn’t help that the sequel under-performed commercially, too, which only added extra pressure to Wingard and his team. If Godzilla Vs. Kong disappoints, then the MonsterVerse could be beyond saving.

With the reshoots now completed though, an early test screening for the new and improved version was held yesterday and the buzz surrounding it seems to be pretty positive. Wingard took to social media afterwards to post an image of the two titans from their classic 1962 brawl and the accompanying caption certainly makes it sound as though things are going pretty well, with the director teasing: “Yesterday was a great day for these two fellas!”

Godzilla Vs. Kong marks a pivotal moment for the MonsterVerse, one that could make or break the entire interconnected universe, so hopefully the reshoots have managed to fix whatever issues the studio had with the project, and the epic monster mash will manage to live up to the hype.

Ben Affleck Jokes About Playing Batman Again In The Dark Knight Returns

Two-time Academy Award winner Ben Affleck is very familiar with superhero cinema by this point in his career. Not only did he play the first live-action incarnation of Matt Murdock back in 2003’s Daredevil, but he then went on to don the cape and cowl to become the DCEU’s Caped Crusader in Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice, Justice League and, briefly, Suicide Squad. Then there was his role as real-life actor George Reeves, who played Clark Kent throughout the 1950s on Adventures of Superman, in 2006’s Hollywoodland.

But unfortunately, it looks like Affleck’s work in the superhero genre is at its end. For now, at least. After hanging up the Batsuit a few years back and declining to return for The Batman, the actor has now moved on with his career and though his personal struggles have slowed him down a bit in recent years, he’s starting to hit his stride again.

And while it’s nice to see him back in a good spot, fans are still wondering whether he could ever return as Bruce Wayne one day. Indeed, this very question was recently put to Affleck in an interview when he was asked about the possibility of doing a Dark Knight Returns movie. For those unaware, Returns features an “aging Batman coming out of retirement.” And while he didn’t exactly say that he’d jump at the chance, the actor joked that “maybe a very old Batman would be interesting. With a walker.”

While we’d love to see Ben return as an older Bruce, the chances of it happening are probably pretty slim. Then again, who knows? Stranger things have happened in cinema before and we imagine a lot of fans would be into seeing it.

But for the time being, we’ve got a new Batman to focus on, as Robert Pattinson is currently shooting his first big screen outing as the Caped Crusader, with Matt Reeves’ film now in production ahead of its June 25th, 2021 release. And only then will we be able to see how the former Twilight star stacks up to Affleck in the role.
