Game Of Thrones Creators Have Been Offered Three Star Wars Movies

In the words of the great Aegon Targaryen (aka Jon Snow), there’s only one war that matters, and it is here.

Yes, the White Walkers are on the march, and they’re bringing with them an undead army the likes of which we’ve never seen before – I mean, they’ve even got a freaking dragon. And so begins the final season of Game of Thrones, which will be here before we know it, as it’s due to premiere on April 14th.

It’s no wonder then viewers are already counting down the days before they can catch back up with Jon, Arya and Daenerys Targaryen, and though we still have another full season to get through, it seems that most of the cast and crew have already begun to think about their post-Thrones lives.

Showrunners David Benioff and D.B. Weiss certainly have, at least. As you surely know, the duo will write and produce a new series of Star Wars films, and today we’re learning that they’ve actually been offered three movies by the studio. Clearly, then, they’re cooking up a whole trilogy for us, but details beyond that remain scarce.

Still, it’s nice to have confirmation on how many films they’ll be in charge of, as at the time of the initial announcement, we were just told they’d be working on “a series” of them. Of course, things could always change and if Lucasfilm ends up with a Solo-level flop when the first effort from Benioff and Weiss hits theaters, they may rethink things. But for now, at least, you can expect three different movies from the Thrones masterminds.

So, while Benioff and Weiss have their Star Wars series firmly in place, folks are still feeling a little skeptical about whether Rian Johnson’s trilogy will ever see the light of day. The filmmaker himself has dismissed all that chatter about it being cancelled, but the rumors have persisted and quite frankly, it wouldn’t surprise us at all to see Lucasfilm scrap it.

But let’s not get too far ahead of ourselves. Firstly, this current trilogy is in need of a conclusion, and it’ll get one when Star Wars: Episode IX hits theaters on December 20th, 2019.

MGM-owned Epix is jumps into the streaming service arena with EpixNow

MGM-owned television network Epix is jumping into the crowded streaming service market. The company announced at the Television Critics Association press tour that its new streaming service, EpixNow, is launching today with a large library of films and the channel’s original television shows.

The service is a spinoff from the premium cable channel, which launched in 2009 and currently counts 15 million subscribers. It costs $5.99 a month, and is now available on for Apple and Google devices, and will soon be available for Roku and Amazon Fire TV users. Users will also be able to download programming and stream video to connected devices.

While the channel is owned by MGM, it’s not a streaming service that covers the larger studio. An...

Daniel Radcliffe Jokes About Being The Next Wolverine

Child stars often end up turning into weird adults, which isn’t terribly surprising when you consider that their formative years are spent with the world watching their every move. So, with that in mind, it’s pretty remarkable that the three young stars of the Harry Potter franchise – Daniel Radcliffe, Emma Watson and Rupert Grint – have turned out pretty well-adjusted.

Of the three, though, it’s Radcliffe who’s kept the busiest and remained the most in the public spotlight, with the actor obviously eager to show everyone that he’s not just a pair of glasses, a wand and a rather fetching scar. His post-Potter gigs have ranged from a critically acclaimed turn in The Woman in Black, bringing Allen Ginsberg to life in Kill Your Darlings, playing someone cursed with devil horns in Horns and, uh, a fart-propelled corpse in Swiss Army Man – among other roles. But could he be about to don the adamantium claws and suit up as our next Wolverine at some point in the near future?

Radcliffe’s been a popular pick amongst fans when it comes to who they want to see replace Hugh Jackman and while there’s been nothing official to say he’s being eyed or is even interested in the role, the actor is at least aware of the demands from his fanbase and recently joked about making them a reality.

While appearing in one of WIRED’s Autocomplete Interviews, he responded to some of the most searched-for things about him on Google and when the question “Is Daniel Radcliffe the new Wolverine?” popped up, he said the following:

“There’s going to be a new Wolverine movie, in which it starts off with Hugh Jackman being put into a hot wash. And then when he comes out, it’s me. So yes, I’m very happy to announce that here.”

Clearly, he’s just joking around and having a bit of fun. but it’s an intriguing prospect to think about and as we said above, a lot of fans would like to see this happen. Then again, we have no indication right now in regards to what Marvel’s hoping to do with Wolverine once the Disney/Fox deal goes through (aside from the fact that they want a young actor in the role), so it’ll be some time before we learn of who will be playing the iconic mutant the next time we see him on our screens.

At last year’s I/O developer’s conference, Google showed off a new augmented reality feature for Google Maps, which would provide people with directions from your phone’s camera in realtime. As my colleague Chaim Gartenberg noted, it’s a bit like what was promised with Google Glass, but without the headset. The Wall Street Journal’s David Pierce got to try out an early version of the feature.

He says that while it “isn’t likely to be your primary turn-by-turn option, it’s a huge step in the right direction for Google Maps.” He described how the feature worked — the app picks up a person’s location via GPS, and then uses Street View data to narrow it down to your exact location. Henry Cavill May Appear As Superman In Shazam! After All

The past few months have seen a never ending stream of contradicting reports and rumors on Henry Cavill’s future, or lack thereof, in the DCEU. But while it could be some time before Superman makes his return to theaters in a film of his own, we might be seeing the character back on the big screen as soon as this April.

As you may’ve heard, the Man of Steel is said to be making a cameo in the upcoming Shazam!, but there’s a catch. Apparently, it won’t be Cavill in the role as the studio has instead used a body double and won’t actually show us Clark Kent’s face. At least, that’s what we were told earlier this week, and it seemed plausible enough. But now we’re hearing something a little different.

On the latest episode of the ComicBook Nation podcast, Jim Viscardi claimed that Cavill has indeed shot a cameo for Shazam! and Warner Bros. plans to use it if they’re able to work out his contract issues in time. If not, then presumably they’ll use the one with his body double.

Of course, this all remains unverified for the time being, and with the actor seemingly unwilling to discuss the matter publicly and Warner keeping silent on it, too, it appears that both parties still have some issues to work out. That being said, it certainly sounds like those on the inside think that Henry’s still Superman.

Back in December, Aquaman star Jason Momoa told Entertainment tonight that his Justice League co-star is “absolutely not” finished with the DCEU and that he “loves the character.” A few other colleagues of Cavill’s have said much the same, so with any luck, these contractual issues are just a small hiccup and they’ll be able to be ironed out in time for Shazam! And if not, well, then at least we’ll still get to see Superman in the film, even if it’s just a body double in the role.
