Marvel Co-President Says He Wants To Reveal Avengers 4 Trailer Release Date, But Can’t

Rarely, if ever, has more fuss been made over the mere release date of a movie’s trailer than in the hype surrounding the first batch of footage for Avengers 4. The simple matter of when this teaser will be arriving has been the subject of an increasingly intense wave of speculation and alleged intel, and many fans are starting to lose their patience with Marvel Studios. Nonetheless, the company’s own co-president is giving nothing away.

In the wake of the first teaser for Disney’s live-action remake of The Lion King dropping last week, one fan took to Twitter to ask Louis D’Esposito if the Avengers: Infinity War sequel will be getting the same treatment in the next week or two, to which the producer responded:

“Are you trying to trick me into telling you when A4 teaser trailer will be released.  I know the date and want to reveal it, but I can’t.  Be patient”

Well, at least we now know for sure that this trailer actually has a release date, despite Marvel Studios’ ongoing silence on the subject.

Much like the film’s long-awaited title reveal, Marvel has been holding back the teaser for a lengthier period than most of us anticipated. Just a couple of weeks ago, much of the internet seemed so sure that the footage would be coming our way by the end of the month, but while a lot of fans are still clinging to the hope that the trailer will be making its premiere as soon as November 28th, others are now viewing a December date as more realistic at this stage.

It’s going to be a big day for the internet when the Avengers 4 trailer finally comes our way, and a moment of great relief for countless fans, too. After that, the next big reveal just might be the release of the film itself, which is set to hit theaters on May 3rd, 2019.

Jordan Peele’s Candyman Sequel Confirmed, Will Release In 2020

Horror remakes and reboots are all the rage right now, and with almost each and every one we get going on to perform well at the box office, it only makes sense that the Bernard Rose-directed Candyman is now being resurrected.

Yes, as you may’ve heard, the so-hot-right-now Jordan Peele (Get Out) and his Monkeypaw Productions are looking to produce a “spiritual sequel” to Rose’s cult horror movie from 1992, which is based on the Clive Barker short story, The Forbidden. Yes, that Clive Barker.

And while it seemed like a sure thing back when it was first announced in September, we now have firm confirmation thanks to Deadline. The outlet reports that Nia DaCosta (Little Woods) has been locked in to direct from a screenplay by Peele and Win Rosenfeld, with the project eyeing a June 12th, 2020 release date.

Plot details remain scarce, but we’re being told the film will “return to the neighborhood where the legend began: the now-gentrified section of Chicago where the Cabrini-Green housing projects once stood.” Beyond that, we don’t know much, but here’s what Peele had to share:

“The original was a landmark film for black representation in the horror genre. Alongside Night of the Living Dead, Candyman was a major inspiration for me as filmmaker — and to have a bold new talent like Nia at the helm of this project is truly exciting. We are honored to bring the next chapter in the Candyman canon to life and eager to provide new audiences with an entry point to Clive Barker’s legend.”

As fans will know, a Candyman remake has been floated for a long, long time. Rose actually once expressed his interest in a possible sequel that would’ve brought back Virginia Madsen as Helen, whose encounter with the titular boogeyman was a potent dose of nightmare fuel back in ’92.

But it seems things have changed, as it’ll now be Nia DaCosta and Jordan Peele steering the ship as they work together to bring us what’ll no doubt be another chilling entry in the Candyman saga.

Jason Momoa Rises From The Ocean In New Aquaman Banner

Between the underwhelming box office performance of Justice League and a main character who’s been the butt of countless jokes over the years, James Wan’s Aquaman has faced an uphill battle in earning the interest and respect of the filmgoing public. But despite these obstacles and more, the DCEU’s next entry has accumulated some commendable levels of hype for itself, and now that the movie’s social media embargo has been lifted, the future is looking all the brighter for the Jason Momoa-led flick.

This new banner for the film probably won’t hurt matters either, showing Aquaman’s title hero emerging from the water with his trident in hand and ready to rock. The image has been unveiled as an online poster, and can also be seen out in public.

Despite the character being introduced in last year’s Justice League, this upcoming release could still be regarded as our first proper introduction to Arthur, as well as the expansive world he inhabits. Based on Wan’s interviews, the director seems very proud of the underwater realm he’s created for the character’s first big screen standalone adventure, claiming earlier this year that he even talked Zack Snyder out of introducing Atlantis in his last movie so he’d have more of a clean slate to work with.

It certainly sounds like Wan and Momoa already have sequel ideas in mind, and if this first film’s impressive pre-sales are anything to go by, then the pair may well end up getting what they want. With the DCEU currently going through a period of transition, it’s evident that various elements from the franchise’s past will soon be cleared away to make room for new ideas, and we’ll likely find out if there’s still a place for Arthur in this fictional universe’s future after Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st.

Analysts Now Predicting Huge $100 Million-Plus Opening For Aquaman

The DCEU could really use a smash hit right about now. Wonder Woman is already a distant memory and fans are feeling a bit doubtful about the franchise after Justice League. Fortunately, James Wan’s Aquaman seems like it might just be able to get things back on track.

Early reactions are calling it the best DC film since The Dark Knight and it’s currently doing extremely well in advance ticket sales. Buoyed up by the positive buzz it’s currently receiving, it seems analysts are now feeling a bit more optimistic about Aquaman‘s chances at the box office. Though they originally projected a relatively soft $40-$60 million opening weekend, those numbers have now been adjusted.

Speaking to The Wrap, industry insiders said that James Wan’s upcoming underwater adventure will be the first $100 million-plus opening since Jurassic World: Fallen Kingdom did $148 million back in June. They didn’t say exactly where it’d fall, but we imagine it’ll be on the lower end of that $100M-$148M scale. Even if that’s the case, though, it’d no doubt make the suits at WB very, very happy.

After all, given that the DCEU brand isn’t in the best standing with the general public right now, they can use all the good news they can get. And they’ve certainly been getting a lot of it lately, which is a nice change of pace for the studio and is hopefully a good omen for the pic.

Either way, it seems that despite the less-than-dazzling opening weekend predicted for the film initially, Momoa and Wan may still be able to follow through with their sequel plans after all. Although, the real test will come when Aquaman hits theaters on December 21st.
