Here’s Your First Look At Young Phil Coulson In Captain Marvel

Today’s first trailer for Captain Marvel gave us a lot to chew on. From revealing new plot details to showing off Carol Danvers’ breathtaking powers to that weird moment where she punches an old lady. Amongst all the excitement, though, one brief moment you might have missed in the teaser was our first look at the return of Phil Coulson.

The fan favorite has been entertaining us on the small screen in Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. for years, but he hasn’t appeared in the movies since 2012’s The Avengers. Captain Marvel will see him return to the cinematic side of the MCU though, but due to the 1990s setting, it’ll feature a Coulson twenty years younger than the one we know.

The trailer reveals just how he’ll appear in the prequel, and it looks like he’s got one fine quiff. You can catch a glimpse of him at the 1:33 mark in the video above, or in the gallery below (which also includes some other screenshots pulled from the preview).

As with Samuel L. Jackson’s Nick Fury, Coulson’s youthful appearance was realized with the help of CGI. Well, that’s what we’ve previously been told, at least. Clark Gregg took to Twitter today to reveal that, actually, the character’s revitalized look was all down to him taking a long nap.

Didn’t use any. Just took a 4 day nap.

As for how Phil will factor into things, well, Gregg has previously stated that Coulson will be a rookie S.H.I.E.L.D. employee when Captain Marvel begins. Presumably. his work alongside Fury and Captain Danvers will give him a career boost, setting up his role as one of Director Fury’s top men in years to come. It’s also likely that this is the “first rodeo” he mentioned to Tony Stark back in Iron Man.

We know that Fury’s part in Captain Marvel will lead to another supporting part in Spider-Man: Far From Home, so hopefully the same will be true of Coulson as well and we can look forward to him becoming a regular face in the MCU again. Though if he doesn’t, at least we’ll always have the quiff.

Benedict Cumberbatch’s The Grinch Gets One Final Trailer

Though Captain Marvel is stealing all the headlines today thanks to the dazzling first trailer for Carol Danvers’ solo outing, there’s another film that’s also fighting for some of the spotlight, with The Grinch dropping its final preview this afternoon to tease what lies ahead for the classic Dr. Seuss character.

Directed by Yarrow Cheney and Scott Mosier, this is just the latest spin on the famous tale from 1957, with previous adaptations including Ron Howard’s How the Grinch Stole Christmas, which had Jim Carrey in the title role and the 1966 TV special, with Boris Karloff playing the part. There were a few others along the way as well, but now, it’s Benedict Cumberbatch’s turn to curse Who-ville with his unbearable cynicism.

Coming by way of Illumination, the industry powerhouse that also brought us Despicable Me, Sing, and the inescapable Minions movies, The Grinch looks very much like another animated winner for the studio, with this new trailer promising fun for the whole family and a new perspective on the classic story.

The Grinch tells the tale of a cynical grump who goes on a mission to steal Christmas, only to have his heart changed by a young girl’s generous holiday spirit. Funny, heartwarming and visually stunning, it’s a universal story about the spirit of Christmas and the indomitable power of optimism.

Benedict Cumberbatch lends his voice to the infamous Grinch, who lives a solitary life inside a cave on Mt. Crumpit with only his loyal dog, Max, for company. With a cave rigged with inventions and contraptions for his day-to-day needs, the Grinch only sees his neighbours in Who-ville when he runs out of food.

Whether The Grinch can reach the same impressive heights that the company’s other efforts have remains to be seen. After all, it’s a story we’ve already witnessed numerous times before (as mentioned above), but this latest take on it does seem to be a bit different, and the animation on display here looks great. With any luck, it’ll at least be better than the Jim Carrey version, which aside from the actor’s solid performance, didn’t offer much worth getting excited about.

নিউ ইয়র্ক: খারাপ আবহাওয়ার কারণে ল্যান্ডিং করা যাচ্ছে না, ফুরিয়ে গিয়েছে তেল। আবার তিনটে ইন্স্ট্রুমেন্ট ল্যান্ডিং সিস্টেম রিসিভারও কাজ করছে না, ফলে বেশিক্ষণ বিমানকে শূন্যে রাখা সম্ভব নয়। এই পরিস্থিতিতে মাথা ঠান্ডা রেখে ৩৭০ জন যাত্রীকে নিরাপদে অবতরণ করালেন এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার এক পাইলট। নিউ ইয়র্কের জে এফ কেনেডি বিমানবন্দরে এই ঘটনা ঘটেছে। দিল্লি থেকে নিউ ইয়র্ক রওনা দেয় এ-১০১ নামে এয়ার ইন্ডিয়ার বিমানটি। ১১ তারিখ ১৪ ঘণ্টা সফরের পর ল্যান্ডিংয়ের আগে বিমানটিতে প্রযুক্তিগত সমস্যা দেখা দেয়। অথচ আবহাওয়া খারাপ থাকায় ল্যান্ডিং করা যাচ্ছিল না, আকাশে থাকতে থাকতে ফুরিয়ে যায় তেল। এই পরিস্থিতিতে পাইলট মাথা ঠান্ডা রেখে নিউ ইয়র্ক ট্রাফিক কন্ট্রোলে বিষয়টা জানান। বলেন, তেল যেমন নেই, তেমনই তিনটে ইন্স্ট্রুমেন্ট ল্যান্ডিং সিস্টেম রিসিভার খারাপ হয়ে যাওয়ায় বেশিক্ষণ বিমান আকাশে ভাসানো যাবে না। ট্রাফিক কন্ট্রোল তাঁকে জরুরি ভিত্তিতে সাহায্য করার কথা বলে। কিন্তু আবহাওয়া খারাপ থাকায় তারাও বিশেষ কিছু করে উঠতে পারছিল না। পরিস্থিতির গুরুত্ব বুঝে নিউ ইয়র্কেরই অন্য বিমানবন্দরে তারা বিমানটি নামানোর কথা বলে। কিন্তু অন্যত্র যাওয়ার মত তেল বিমানে ছিল না। তখন পাইলট সফলভাবে ম্যানুয়াল ল্যান্ডিং করান। কীভাবে ঘটল এত বড় প্রযুক্তিগত ত্রুটি? এয়ার ইন্ডিয়া কর্তৃপক্ষ এ ব্যাপারে তদন্তের নির্দেশ দিয়েছে।
